Oh, so
that's why the shoutbox I was trying out earlier was misbehaving. I thought it was AJAX-based, but I checked out so many of them that I must have mixed two of them up.
BTW, the shoutbox is hidden because I just commented out the PHP bit that spawned it, but some of the code was still there as I hoped to get it to work eventually (...I guess that isn't happening), and that's what triggered the Flash alert.
Edit: I wasn't wrong, apparently only the sound notification used Flash, which is hilariously odd.
