Fiôvâ / ELECTIONS FOR CAPITÁN OF FIOVÂ 2019/2020
December 06, 2019, 12:37:35 AM

Esteemed Fiováes and others present!
The role of Capitán (head of government, analogous to Governor) of this province has been vacant since June 1 of this year, when Audradâ Roibeardét declined to stand again and there were no candidates for the office.

Given that I have been informed that a Fiovan has decided to stand up and make themselves available for this role, I hereby announce that nominations are now open for the role of Capitán of Fiovâ for the term ending June 1 2020.

In accordance with The Fiovan Elections and Referendum Law Title III, all candidates must provide:

  • their name
  • their party affiliation (if any) and
  • a statement, no longer than 50 words, of their candidate's aims and objectives
See you again in a week!

miestrâ, provincial SoS since time immemorial

What's to stop France from annexing you back? Is your barbed wire better quality? Are they unaware of your existence? Or just indifferent?

According to the 1992 History of Talossa, KR1 formally notified the French government of the annexation by nailing a postcard to the internal wall of one of the German WW2 forts on Cézembre, so obviously they must have taken notice of that.

There is currently no authority except common usage. Since "Still Into This" passed the CÚG no longer has any standing in law and SIGN doesn't really exist yet.

The analysis of the election results would be more interesting if it diverged from the maths a little bit to questioning why the large surprises happened. The two "random factors" would IMHO be: (a) a truly sterling GOTV effort from the PNP; (b) the entire Ventrútx family neglecting to vote.

Can we have the feature of tagging users with "@username"? I've just realised how hard it is to remember the Talossan-language spelling of some people's names without that feature :D

El Viestül/The Lobby / 54th Cosâ Cabinet
December 05, 2019, 02:26:43 PM
Esteemed fellow citizens!

I am happy to announce that, following the recent Cosâ election, the Free Democrats of Talossa, the Awakening and Magnifying Passion party, and the Peculiar Nationalist Party, have agreed to form a government together. A draft Programme for Government has been agreed by the incoming coalition and will be published once it's put into more formal language.

Your incoming Cabinet lineup, as transmitted today to the King for his approval:

Miestrâ Schivâ, UrN: Seneschál, Minister of Culture
Ián Plätschisch: Distáin, Minister of STUFF
Eðo Grischün: Interior Minister
Txoteu É. Davinescu: Foreign Minister, Defence Minister
Cresti Nouacastra-Läxhirescu: Attorney-General
Dame Litz Cjantscheir: Minister of Finance

Well, this is why I asked  :o  Why "deo Vao", instead "del Val"? Does the letter L represent a different phoneme in Talossan?

"L: At the end of a word after any vowel except o, ø, u or ü, pronounced like "w" in "wet"."

If my only choices were the two, I'm partial to "Açafat del Val". How would it be pronounced?

Just the way it's spelled, lol

(seriously: AH-suh-fut deo VAO, to rhyme with Father-nut Day-o Cow)

I'm using Firefox on Windows right now.

"Spencer" historically means "steward" or "administrator", so Açafat.

"The name K*****t is of Anglo-Saxon origin and came from when the family lived in a valley or at the foot of a hill": so, I recommend Açafat del Val or Açafat Ped D'Oveir.

Would it be possible to have an "edit count" function?  IE, a tag regarding the number of times a post has been edited?

In time, the Republic will be known for what people said about it, not what it was.  That's a serious loss.

Well, if fewer people had told lies about us because they had a disagreement with our very existence, that might not be a problem. But seriously, MPF put Witt X online in read-only format a while back, though I can't remember where. I forget who hosted Witt XII.
