We unknowingly celebrated Humble Potato Day this morning with hashed browns.

Unfortunately I did not have the forethought to take a picture before it was all gone. ;D

Had some delicious rosemary home fries at a local restaurant. Happy Humble Potato Day folks.

If I had my way, this would be a magnificent annual festival with a budget equal to total revenue and a special elected Potato Czar with absolute authority to administer it, as beautiful and terrible as the dawn. Those who spoke against the potato would be summarily executed.

I've had the equivalent of two whole potatoes in the last 30 hours and
I've just watched this fine sketch to conmemorate such a deeply humble and fine tuber.

A few nights ago I made myself a sort of Thanksgiving-lite meal, mostly to have a reason to try making a port-wine reduction because the bottle I bought wasn't quite as good as some of the others I've had (the 10-year-aged stuff is too bitey, I like the smoothness of the regular tawny).

That being said, it comes out wonderfully as a gravy to use on, among other things, mashed potatoes, so I think I may have to make those wonderful spuds the star of my plate of leftovers tonight for dinner...

Maybe I should include the sauce as a recipe for TBoC Vol. III...

Yes, please. The third volume will likely come out sometime in the middle of next year but recipe submissions are certainly welcome now. Thank you!

I was joking earlier in the thread, but we have had more positive engagement on this topic than so many other things. Having an actual annual potato day seems like it might be a good idea!
