Thank you for running this election so well. Using the database sounds like a pain when you can't get at the back-end, but everything seems to have run smoothly. Well-done.
Well. Congratulations to all on the most nailbiting election in most of a decade. A few preliminary remarks:
1) Talossa has had a number of elections where one party has run on a promise of "a competent team for Government with a programme of action", while their opposition have staked out an ideological position. The thing is, the Free Democrats have historically taken the first role; this time, we took the second role. Our Government team was exhausted, we had no way of hiding that fact, and yet we had to step up and face the music - rather than taking the path traditionally taken by exhausted Talossan political parties, meekly dissolving. Clearly we lost some (valuable) support on that principle. Including one actual Cabinet Minister - and another was too demoralised to even vote. It's been an unwelcome surprise how much of our support the incumbent government had burned off.
2) The idea of a Historic Compromise between Monarchy and Republicanism is dead. Honestly, it should have been clear how unlikely it was based on the very results of the Ranked Choice Referendum, where it became clear that Status Quo and New Republic were equally matched, leaving other options in the dust. And yet, we (the forces who now make up the Free Dems) gave it the damndest of tries, in two different variations, over a number of Cosas. It didn't work. Clearly, Talossa will no doubt continue to be a Monarchy-for-Life; until the day it once again becomes a Republic. I, personally, will continue to work for the latter goal. The Free Democrats as a party will have to consider our purpose in an era when constitutional compromise is no longer an option (and, of course, in the light of the exhaustion mentioned above).
3) The Free Democrats, dare I say it, deserved to lose our role as biggest party. Congratulations for the TNC for one of the best-run campaigns in a long time in Talossa. But, as I told Senator Tzaracomprada at the beginning of the campaign, to be the champ, you gotta whup the champ. I think the Free Democrats can help build a government based on these results. I have no idea what role I might play in such a government, having exhausted all my personal resources, but I'll keep you updated.
I want to particularly thank the Secretary of State for his work on the election; and Senator Ian Plätschisch for being pretty much the last person standing beside me in the outgoing Cabinet. You guys did what you needed to. No higher compliment can be given.

This reminds me, and I was going to bring it up in the coming days. Don't forget that after the certification comes the Seneschal election to determine who will have the confidence of the Cosa.
My pretty much instant, gobsmacked but delighted reaction:

Whatever happens, it's clear with this expectations-smashing victory at the polls that the energy and drive of the people are behind the TNC and a new Talossan renaissance. Let's get things done and get things moving! Heck, let's get those ID cards into people's hands!
I had more than a few shots of whiskey. This was a delightful result.
Congratulations, you earned it.
You can see my dispassionate analysis in the Election Predictions thread, but in terms of my opinions:
-If the TNC ends up in government, I wish them well. I support Monarchy reform only as a tool to generate more activity, so if a TNC government is able to increase activity some other way, that's awesome.
-If the TNC ends up in opposition, it will be fiercest opposition we've had in a while, which will be great too.
Those election graphs which the good Baron seems to find useful
I love the fact that I have created two parties which both lasted two elections, so you have to create new labels for both of them rather than just stick them in "other"
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Turnout percentage bounced up a good amount, which is great. I actually foresee even better numbers on that score if we keep things up and energized, since so many non-voters lost their citizenship this election. And then if we keep activity levels up, the country can actually start to grow again while still keeping our turnout high. Good things on the horizon!
Congrats to everyone on their results! I don't know who the eight of you are that expressed confidence in a pair of newcomers, but I don't intend to let you down.

What happens to the last seat? I only count 199. Is this one that would end up being assigned by the King after the first Clark?
Congratulations to the winners (and to be honest, 30 votes isn't bad for the FreeDems, considering the circumstances). And special congrats to the PDR, who stood for election for the first time and ended up becoming the kingmaker of this election!

Thank you Ian for congratulating the winners of this election. 78 seats (higher than the LCC's crest and with even Dien's slight increase in seats) was at the very high end of my personal projections for the TNC. I think the idea of a grand coalition and our focus on revitalizing immigration and activity were attractive to voters and I hope that other parties will have the same response too.

A final tally will be announced once the election is certified. These are preliminary numbers.
So I was thinking about not voting, but decided that I would vote, but then I forgot the deadline :-[
Anyway, congrats to the winners. I havent followed Talossa very closely, but this sure seems like its a surprising, and actually sort of exciting, result. The close result and the potential change in government suggests there is still life left in Talossan politics. On the other hand I actually thought the final compromise bill was a solid proposal in the end, so Im slightly disappointed it is now declared dead. Props to Ian and the FreeDems for trying anyway.
Maybe I should have paid more attention and registered the KLüP again. Obviously I would have unduly tried to claim Lücs return as a major partisan victory, but he only told me about his return after the GE already started.
Good luck to whichever parties will form the next government.

Take it up with Italy for not winning a Six Nations game earlier :p
I just hope that whoever my successor will be is gonna kick the Cosă into shape and turn it into a proper parliament.
I have moved numerous off-topic posts to a new thread for discussion of the results. This thread should be kept as clean as possible for further Chancery updates. As such, I am locking this thread as well.
Thanks.
The Electoral Commission has
certified the results of the 57th Cosa General Election. Two issues arose during the certification process, but none of them resulted in a change in the unofficial results. It is important, with an eye toward transparency, that the two issues that arose were:
- Inability to remove and appoint a third member of the EC due to issues with the national database.
- One vote was accidentally marked as invalid (oddly enough it was the vote of the Secretary of State) and due to database issues, it could not be marked as valid. This will be rectified at the earliest possible time, but as the invalid notation was accidental, it does not affect the vote of citizen #386 or the results of the election.
