Messages - Eiric S. Bornatfiglheu

As the New Peculiar Way will not be fielding a list for the Cosa this election, we have opted to formally endorse the FreeDem ticket for the Cosa and encourage all Peculiaristas and Talossans to vote the FreeDems.

Why?

  • The status quo on the monarchy (including and especially the current rump in the seat) simply isn't working.
  • Cutting the red-and-green tape can help every Talossan find and ride their hobby-horse to victory.
  • Greater democratization is the path to greater Talossanity.  The rhetoric surrounding "real Talossans" that often is tied to stultifying monarchism and blaming others for "ruining the fun," attempts to corner the market on what is and isn't Talossa.  Enough clubbiness.

Votez FreeDem for Cosa!  Bornatfiglheu for Benito Senats!  NPW for Benito!

Please, show me more mind reading through the glass heads of your opponents.

They're letting a biased party moderate?

I wish to stand for the Senate Seat in Benito.

I can firmly get behind a coffee day as an annual holiday.  But then, I easily put away a pot per day on my own.

This piece combines sci-fi, noir, and comedy in an almost pitch-perfect way.  Also has a cameo by Ivan Stand and J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, for those Subgenii out there.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on December 10, 2022, 04:58:04 PMIf I had my way, this would be a magnificent annual festival with a budget equal to total revenue and a special elected Potato Czar with absolute authority to administer it, as beautiful and terrible as the dawn. Those who spoke against the potato would be summarily executed.

Down with those damn parsnips!

You can even set memberships on this board?

So... logistical question.  Can ANYONE else see the NPW party board, or am I just talking to myself on there?

In terms of direct correlation?  I'm not sure that they do.  Or at the very least the correlation is, currently, "These are two books I read where a differing style of governance is at least discussed, and so I mentioned them."

One specific dose of Peculiarism that I think could be particularly healthy at the moment might be just a simple change in the way we consider the operations of the nation.  I think we approach it too often as a "what do real nations do?" question as opposed to a "what do entities that more strongly resemble Talossa do?" question.  In some ways, the dynamics of Talossa are less that of a nation and more one of a fraternal or civic organization.  All too often, these organizations rely on a very few key individuals to keep the lights on and the wheels turning.  And if they are not careful to husband this resource in a sustainable manner, it burns out.  The IOOF Lodge where I live essentially just imploded due to just this thing.

I'm going to be honest and admit that I only kinda grok Mastodon is all about.  It seems vaguely like Twitter, but is decentralized on its servers.  But I don't really know what it means to turn our website into an instance/Server.

But in terms of overarching infrastructure, I'll echo Breneir on this.  Opening another blank window might not be the greatest plan, especially given the personnel issues that were acknowledged during today's Living Cosa.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on November 14, 2022, 08:20:31 PMI've looked this over a few times, and I can't see anything jumping out at me to change.

@Ian Plätschisch and @Breneir Tzaracomprada , please be aware that you'll be provided the opportunity to make brief speeches, should you so choose.  Three to five minutes would probably be respectful of everyone's time, if you're looking for a guideline.

@Eiric S. Bornatfiglheu , I was thinking it might be appropriate to have you make apologies for any senators who can't make it, if you're willing, as Mencei?  And then party leaders ( @Dr. Txec dal Nordselvă, GST and @Breneir Tzaracomprada and @Mic'haglh Autófil, MC EiP  ) would make apologies for their own.  That all sound good to everyone?

@Eiric S. Bornatfiglheu , I was also hoping you would be Doorkeeper and Sergeant at Arms?

I will invite His Majesty to attend, and ask him to serve as Chaplain to deliver the invocation and/or address the Living Cosa with general remarks as sovereign.

Estimat Tuis,

Please forgive the intrusion onto the Cosa floor, but I'll keep it quick.

Very Sorry.  For some reason this thread did not ping me as being spoken to.

I am willing to serve as doorkeeper/sgt at arms.  Also, I am willing to address the body w/ Senatorial regrets.

I have, at this point, sent the Zoom invite via EMAIL to all of the email addresses I was provided (essentially all FreeDem).  If other party leaders want to shoot contacts my way, I can send it over as well.  If there is a closed forum somewhere, I am also willing to post there.

To confirm, we are looking at 11am Eastern Time, 11/20.
