You want me to stay, I'll stay... but I'm 40 goddamn years old with a Masters Degree. I don't have anymore time in my life to argue with children! If I want to argue with kids, I have a 8 & 9 year old at home.

Davinescu

Edited to add tag @Dr. Txec Róibeard dal Nordselvă, Esq., O.SPM, SMM Mr. Secretary, I assume you will be charitable in your requests for decorum with your own party members? Coming from another 40-something with a Masters degree.

I have completed twenty wiki edits and request a day of observance entitled "Peacebuilders Day" honoring those whose work furthers the application of nonviolent solutions to contemporary problems, the awareness of structures of domination and unethical coercion in contemporary society, and the building of stronger and more vital communities.

@Bråneu Excelsio  other new citizens have requested a new citizen seat in this thread. Please use their request as a template.

I am enjoying Strange New Worlds. Especially the first episode. Pike's monologue to the Kylee rulers where he showed Earth's WWIII destruction was some of the best Trek I've seen. It really moved me.
There does appear to be more humor and more exploration of the main cast's backstories which deepens my interest and connection with the show overall.

I haven't seen the show but I was surprised to overhear a conversation the other day in which they were discussing the show as if it were fact LOL

Wait my mistake the show they were talking about was Stranger Things

I have yet to sit down and watch Stranger Things but still harbor some excitement for the start of the binge. If you check out Strange New Worlds I would love to hear your thoughts on the show.

I wanted to confirm that this resolution can bypass the CRL under the following section of El Lex:

Quote6.4. After a legislative proposal has spent at least 10 days in the Hopper, its proposer may request that it "move to committee". No bill may be Clarked without being "moved to committee", except as provided by Lex.H.6.2 or Lex.H.6.3.

as this resolution falls under the following exceptions mentioned in El Lex:

Quote6.2 A bill has passed the hopper if it has spent at least 10 days in the Hopper, and is exclusively limited to the following:
6.2.1 Non-binding proclamations that have no effect other than express the wish of the Cosa, Senate, or Ziu as a whole, in which case the bill must contain the words "Sense of the Cosa", "Sense of the Senate" or "Sense of the Ziu" in its title.
6.2.2. Proclamations that establish the position of the Ziu on a foreign policy issue.

This is correct, and the bill does not need review by the CRL, unless you think it would be helpful in some way.

Thank you very much Baron

And the way that is accomplished is that I am relinquishing one of my seats and he is reassigning it as party leader :-)

Thank you Baron. This must be an unprecedented act of civic generosity. Giving up seats for new citizens twice in one term.

Welcome to the Ziu (Parliament) S:reu Excelsio

Oy ok. I was so excited to give a seat to our new member that I did not really think that through. I, uh, do not have thirteen Senate seats of which to give one to Braneu!

Here is the actual seat reassignment.

Somaliland Recognition Act

Whereas the international community currently only recognizes Somaliland as an autonomous region of Northern Somalia, and

Whereas Somaliland has possessed its own distinct culture and heritage since the 1800s, and

Whereas in 1991 Somalilanders took a stand against the murderous rule of military dictator, Siad Barre, and declared their independence, and

Whereas since this time in contrast to Somalia the Somaliland government has drafted an enduring constitutional democracy and maintained societal stability, and

Whereas the democratic features of Somaliland governance have been observed by the international organizations including the European Union, and

Whereas, this present Act follows on the precedent of 28RZ28, An Act to Officially Recognize Taiwan, then co-sponsored by current sitting Fiova senator Gödafrïeu Válcadác'h.

Therefore, be it resolved that the Kingdom of Talossa officially recognizes Somaliland, to be referred to in official documentation as the Republic of Somaliland, and

Be it further resolved, that the Kingdom of Talossa encourages all nations of the world to initiate diplomatic and economic relations with Somaliland.

The last census took place in June of 2021, and before that June of 2019. The next census will be in June of 2023.

Understood.
What happened here in March 2018? Not trying to be difficult but genuinely curious.
This is a PD from Seneschal da Schir directing the SOS to conduct a census in March 2018 (https://talossa.proboards.com/thread/12560/national-census-prime-dictate-51pd01).
Did we have a census in both 2018 and 2019?
Or did the directed census in 2018 get delayed to 2019?

Hmmm, thank you.
@Lüc do you have any insight?

Mhm, as per the Wiki,

Quotea Prime Dictate by then-Prime Minister Lüc da Schir, calling for a third Census in March 2018, ultimately fell flat due to personal issues by the Secretary of State.

With the Chancery changing hands at the end of the 51st Cosa, a third Census would ultimately launch with little fanfare in January 2019, right before the elections to the 52nd Cosa.

I know I wrote that bit myself, so I trust this to be accurate :)

Excellent, that clears up my confusion, Lüc. Thanks very much!
