SoS, please Clark - GV, Senator

<start of bill text>

A Resolution in memory of John Carl Eiffler aka 'Art Verbotten'

WHEREAS John Carl Eiffler of Milwaukee, Wisconsin - a part of the Miwaukee 'East Side' 'Old-Growth' group of friends including R. Ben Madison, Xherált L. Conâ, JJ, Josh Forziun, Sandee P., Dan Lauriér, Roibeard dal Már, and others and known to Talossans worldwide as 'Art Verbotten' since ca. late 2004, was in the Talossan community from at least 1980 onward and was active from the mid-1980s through ca. 2010.  In Talossan, he was 'Ián Carlüs Valadéir', but never used that translation.

WHERAS as the leader of the one-man Kingdom of Thord, he was a belligerent in the Conâ Wars and one of the founders of the now-defunct League of Secessionist States (LOSS) which for a time was a force in the micronational community.

WHEREAS he was an active citizen of the Kingdom of Talossa and later of the 2004-2012 Republic of Talossa and whose April 2004 renunciation of the Kingdom helped (along with Bill Cooper's renunciation the same night) throw the full light of clarity and truth on Ben Madison's vendetta against Kane Gruber,

WHEREAS his presence in Talossa was one of consistency, approachability, and a continual fount of wisdom,

WHEREAS he was rightly called the 'Conscience of Talossa' for at least thirty years by Ben Madison and others,

WHEREAS he was born 14 July 1964 and died on 10 January 2021, though the Kingdom did not hear of it until a fortnight afterward,

WHEREAS with only a few pointed and gracious words, he could distill any argument to its essence, putting everyone in their place and calling all on their b-s,

WHEREAS his obituary may be had at https://www.krausefuneralhome.com/obituary/john-c-eiffler/

WHEREAS he was just plain cool and his loss is a profound one to the Talossan Kingdom community, the micronational community at-large, the Talossan expatriate community, and most of all to his family and friends outside of Talossa,

THEREFORE, the Ziu and the whole of the Kingdom of Talossa extends its profound sympathies to Eiffler's family and friends as well as to R. Ben Madison, Xherált Conâ, Ián U. Metáiriâ (aka JJ), Danihel Lauriér, and all the greater Talossan nation.

May John Carl Eiffler aka 'Art Verbotten' be remembered for his wisdom, wit, and for being a giant who walked among us.  The Kingdom of Thord has left the building.

Rest in peace, brother.

Uréu q'estadra så Gödefrïeu Válcadác'h, Senator on behalf of the entire Ziu and the Kingdom of Talossa

For those interested, the discussion re: the 50 word statements went like this:

ME: "Here's the Option 1 50 words. You should put them all on a page on talossa.com."
THE SOS: "I haven't got Option 2 and 3's 50 words."
ME: "FREAKIN' YIPES!"

... and it was all sorted out in less than a day. Amazing enough that me doing my best to make sure the Status Quo and Dual Monarchy options got their statement on the ballot is being spun by the Regent into something shameful and corrupt.

The Regent is quite right on points of procedure.  My question is: why didn't the proponents of options 2 and 3 get their fifty-word statements to the SoS in time?  And why was it the leader for Option 1 the person who got the fifty-word statements for the opposing options onto the ballot?

GV

Because I am currently buried in work and have a life outside of Talossa.

You're not allowed to have a life outside of Talossa.  Talossa IS your life!  ;-)

I will be in shock over this a very long time and will have more words on this in Oraclâ and on Witt.  There are luminaries to be found everywhere, but then there are giants of men - John Eiffler was one of these.

Miestrâ, thank you for letting us know through the 'Chat' forum one or two days ago.  I'm only now coming across this news.

Where in talossa.ca is this result?

On the Referendum ballot page. I've double-checked the SoS's calculations and they seem accurate.

Thank you.  My bad for not finding it.

I do not question the SoS' calculations.  When an SoS calls a result 'provisional', I take it as such until a final result is published.

Where in talossa.ca is this result?  Unless this wiki data is the primary source?  No matter how the vote turned out, thank you Dr. Nordselva, for a job well-done on this, your first non-Clark public vote.

Voting has now closed on the referendum. The results are as follows:

Option 1 - an elected head of state wins the referendum.

D:na Seneschal, the Government does not conduct elections.  It seems deeply problematic for the Government to work in private with the Chancery to coordinate such things.  I hope it didn't go any farther and I hope that it doesn't happen again, because it's deeply inappropriate.

I am not insinuating anything: I am saying outright that it is wrong for the Government to privately coordinate with the Chancery and help administer an election.  Txec might be your close friend, and it might be trivial to reach out on Facebook and ask about this, and then help him.  And it might seem innocent to you, but it's not.  Please don't do it again.

Had the government not intervened as it did, making very sure the most monarchist and conservative options were appropriately represented, I'm curious: what would have happened with the vote and the ballot?

Give this a few minutes for upload to the above link.  Again, a janky presentation, but it works.

Yet another giant Royal Archives project done.

I remain amazed at the raw volume of work there is to be done, and what you've gotten done so far. I still have a lot of reading to do.

When you get those Støtanneu archives online, I'd be very interested to take a look. I was looking for a specific article from 1996, and basically gave up because I assumed the only person with a copy was Ben.

You will have to wait a while on that.  I've found a few other more-pressing Talossan projects, but I will get back to Støt eventually.

The job of archiving Witt I was able to finish (first pass-through to .html single-file only) last year, but the files are all local to me, and I've not found the time to upload the 20-30 gigs of data yet.

What we need, once-and-for-all is a one-month period in which we all go to OldWitt and archive every thread to single-file .html, .pdf (if possible), .png, and .jpg in such a way the color scheme is 'black-on-white' and not 'white-on-black'.  It will make for easier future printing of images of OldWitt.

I have made such an appeal before, but I would love to have someone take that project over.

Should it be of value to the realm, I conduct a backup of my network attached storage at least quarterly and rotate external hard drives back and forth off site to secure storage in a Wells Fargo safe deposit box.  I would be happy to include an archive of Talossan data whether it be in raw or compiled forms within that process.  There are certainly other options including alternative online storage, but consider this an offer of specific physical storage to augment other archives.

YES!!  You can start by downloading everything from libraryoftalossa.com - I'll get you access to the Secret Archives and add you as a Royal Archives staff member.  Thank you!

I am very happy to present, for the first time ever, the extant archive of Støtanneu in an online-friendly format.

Yes, the presentation is visually horrible, but the online privacy of many people is protected while giving everyone a huge primary-source text for the first four years of the Cybercit Era, Ben Madison's over-bias and all.

Enjoy!

Man, it's embarrassing to get a reminder of how little the Ziu (me included) actually reads this stuff.  :(

I'm as guilty as anyone, I fear.
