Quote from: Miestră Schivă, UrN on July 21, 2021, 05:38:06 PMa) the KLüP was not prepared to actually put their flagship policy into action at this time; (b) after a week or two of delays, we found out that no-one had actually asked Lüc da Schir, who actually does not want to be King of Talossa. So that went nowhere, and the KLüP's voters might wonder what they actually voted for.

Well the first part of this is an egregious lie. The KLüP (which is not Lüc) would be more than happy to make Lüc our King, preferably in a backroom deal without an election, as the coalition generously proposed.

Sadly, the part about Lüc not currently wanting to be King is true, at least at this moment. I guess he is the hero we need, but don't deserve. In the KLüP's defense though, we never claimed he did. (As our campaign mails noted: "Lüc da Schir is not responsible for the content of this advertising.") I still dream of the day Lüc returns to fulfill his destiny. Perhaps a bigger mandate for the KLüP next election would help convince him.

I'd have to abstain as well I'm afraid. I applaud the attempt at expanding the Cézembrean culture, but three languages is probably enough, especially since I'm not aware of any Cézembrean citizen who actually speaks Breton.

El Viestül/The Lobby / Question for the LCC
July 01, 2021, 06:00:08 PM
I was disappointed to see Danihel Txechescu not being assigned any seats, despite being on the candidate list. What happened?

Each party gets to nominate ONE person.

What is the reasoning behind this interpretation?

Reluctantly, the seats of P are assigned to myself.

Thanks to Sir XPB for organising the election.

I'd like to register the Partisan Party (P) for the upcoming Etats elections.

Thank you.  May I list your name as associated with the Party on the ballot, or is there some other individual to name in this hybrid style of a party list?

Well my argument is really that according to the constitution " Each party will receive a number of
seats, equal to the number of high quotients it received.
Each party may divide its seats amongst Cézembrian
citizens as it sees fit.", so you could add my name to the ballot but then in my view I could still assign these seats to someone else (or reassign them if I were to resign as Mol'E), even if Im not planning to do so.

La Cosă/The Cosa / Re: Nomination of a Túischac'h
June 10, 2021, 04:48:31 AM
Fwiw, I would strongly urge the coalition parties NOT to make any internal agreements on who should become Túischac'h, and any MCs to sign/nominate freely. This is one of those things any functioning democratic Cosa should decide for itself and it should not be decided for in shady backrooms.

For context, the way this works (I just looked it up and was very surprised) is that any MC can nominate someone, but nominations have to be countersigned by a majority of MCs before the nominee gets elected.

Also, you only get one nomination/countersignature, but it can be retracted and given to someone else. And we just keep playing this game until a majority occurs.

This is all in Lex H 21

So any takers on the above nomination?

La Cosă/The Cosa / Nomination of a Túischac'h

Marcel makes a good point in discord.

I therefore nominate Marcel Eðo Pairescu Tafial as Túischac'h for the 56th Cosa term.

Like the general idea of this bill (though I do think some of the problems with legislating are cultural and shouldn't be fixed by binding rules). Will comment on some of the details later, except:

should there be certain exceptions? For example bills that don't affect law but exclusively contain appointments, non-binding recommendations to the government/King (Sense of the Ziu), foreign policy declarations, appropriations, setting up committees, may not always need to spend 30 days in committee.

And then of course, the blame of any future negative consquences rests not on people voting for a bad bill but on the people warning for these consquences not putting in hours of work to write a better one.

Yay, politics...

So basically, judges will now have full discretion to declare anything they dislike enough a crime as long as they can find some justification in the sixth amendment (which should be easy enough for most things)?

OH NO!

Edit: Ok, this was based on the bill at the top of thread. Apologies
