Title: Culture Minister on Leave
Post by: Ian Plätschisch on October 22, 2022, 12:48:27 PM
Minister @Antaglha Xhenerös Somelieir has informed the cabinet that she is traveling to Finland and will be mostly unavailable until November 12th. She will catch up on her duties upon her return.

This brings up an interesting issue: Antaglha is the leader of the FDT, and in her absence I don't think there's any legal way for the FDT to assign its seats.  It occurs to me that this is weird and seems unnecessary, since we could add a provision to the law allowing parties to designate representatives to assign seats in the absence of the party leader.  It could be kept to a pretty minimal procedure, legally, so that parties can sort out themselves how they want to do it.

The Constitution of the Free Democrats (clause VIIb) clearly states that the Party Secretary assumes the duties of the Party President in her absence. Moreover, in anticipation of the current situation, this has already been communicated clearly to the Secretary of State in advance, as provided under El Lexhatx B.7.1. Until Antaglha returns, Senator Plätschisch is therefore "the leader" of the Free Democrats within the meaning of OrgLaw IV.3.
