So what's the next step for this? I'd love to be able to support, even if no one wants to place any bets. If it's getting going in April, then should we set up teams?

Also, I think our magnificent organizer here should award himself a fancy job title.

I really can't wrap my brain around this just yet, but then most of my attention is focused on the upcoming election.

Well, I have been empowered to act on behalf of the Dean, so I'll message him today, but if we don't hear, I'll just do it. I'm not super eager to do that, but we are not in ordinary times and technically it's okay.

I think we should welcome our newest applicant as the Oblivious Auditing Fellow, and as his first task (and seeing there aren't really any other applications for Arms) he should go through the process of requesting and designing his own Coat of Arms. It would be a great way to get his feet wet. Thoughts?

Azul,

If you are unsure if the Chancery has your correct email address on file in the database, please send me a private message with the email address you can receive election related emails at. If I don't have your correct email, you may not get the notifications you need.

Thank you,

El Lex. B.2.2 states:

QuoteThe Ballot can also include for each referendum up to one 50-words essay per party with Cosa Members, each marked as being either in favor of the amendment or against the amendment. The argument's signatures are not counted in the 50 words limit.

This means that any party that had seats in the 56th Cosa may provide a 50 word statement on each referendum that will go on the ballot.

There are 3 referendums that will be on the upcoming ballot:

Each party that had seats in the 56th Cosa may submit either on this thread, via PM, or via email to talossachancery@gmail.com their 50 word statements.

Could this perhaps be resolved by "grandfathering" Senators? Think of it this way: Neither Benito's nor Florencia's Senator is removed from office until their original term was up. Yes, this would mean that -- assuming the merger happens during the 57th Cosa -- for a partial Cosa term, Garibaldi would have two Senators. The "balance of power" in the Senate is not (immediately) changed. However, when elections for the 58th Cosa come up, Garibaldi would simply not elect a Senator. The Benitian senator term would end, and then the Florencian senator would be the sole senator from the new province, and Garibaldi would take the place of Florencia in the Senate election cycle.
This would have the unfortunate consequence of leaving formerly Benitian voters represented by a Senator they didn't elect. Maybe the short time period makes that concern not very important though.

I'd have to check, but I also think that would involve a change to the OrgLaw also. If that's the case, a referendum would be required.

I was happy to see that we may have left the whole bitter and nasty fight behind, actually, when the FDT approved their four-point platform in the most recent convention, when you said that the issue just wasn't that pressing when compared to the continued existence of the country.

Which part of the platform are you reading? Our platform reads:

QuoteMONARCHIST/REPUBLICAN COMPROMISE. Free Democrats include both monarchists and republicans, but we all put liberty and democracy first in Talossa. We will offer our support to a Talossan Head of State who is continually active, puts the interests of the Nation above defending their own interests and prestige, and acts as the servant rather than the owner of the State. We support Organic structures which ensure that our Head of State operates in this way.

It does not say "the issue is not pressing when compared to the continued existence of the country." It says we put liberty and democracy first in Talossa. It also calls for an active head of state, and not one who hasn't even logged into Wittenberg in 31 days and doesn't respond to emails from his own Secretary of State.

RZ11 passed 163-11-14
RZ12 passed 150-14-24

The VoC passed 172-0

MC Txosuè Éiric Rôibeardescù did not vote.
Senators Béneditsch Ardpresteir and Éovart Grischun did not vote.

No one lost their seats and this was the final Clark of the 56th Cosa. It is now up to @King John for the next steps in the process to finalize the results and dissolve this Cosa.

Mr. Secretary @Dr. Txec Róibeard dal Nordselvă, Esq., O.SPM, SMM

There had been some discussion on this a little while back but I wanted to check on the possibility now of creating a party child board within The Lobby. This would be similar to what @xpb has done in the provincial boards of Cezembre. The TNC would like to have a continuous public forum, via Wittenberg, to involve and/or inform the public of our actions and all discussions except for those conducted during executive session.

If this is possible would it be the Chancery that would set this up?

Yes, it is the Chancery that administrates Wittenberg. I will give it some thought as to the best way to accomplish this.

My Secretary, we are nearly a week on from the initiation of the discussion. May I request an update on creating a child board here for the Talossan National Congress which is a registered party for the duration of this Cosa?

I've not forgotten. My time in Wittenberg is sometimes limited due to my other myriad responsibilities, such as initiating the Electoral Commission and updating election rules. I'm also considering the fairness factor. If I set up a child board for you, I will also need to do so for the other parties, as I must remain neutral in fulfilling the duties of the Chancery.

I can do this one of two ways: a fully public sub-board, or a public sub-board and a private sub-board for each party. It is arguably more work to set up private sub-boards, but either option I believe can be done.

Thank you Mr Secretary,

Perhaps a fully public sub-board here on Witt and each party can have a non-Witt private forum for confidential or privacy-preferred items? That prevents an overload on the Chancery and takes advantage of something parties are already doing.

I've created sub-boards in a new board called "Registered Political Parties". I will set the party leader as the moderator of their particular sub-board.

So...I think there are so far about ten recipes.

Mr. Secretary @Dr. Txec Róibeard dal Nordselvă, Esq., O.SPM, SMM I wanted to ask for your advice. Would it be appropriate for the Chancery to assist with spreading the word for private initiatives such as these? Maybe as a part of the monthly government gazette for the purposes of informing non-Witt users?

I am making personal and earnest efforts to initiate non-Government based projects but am disappointed by the response here on Witt. Is it OK to email citizens who do not frequent Witt to spread the word on these projects?

There are certain types of emails the Chancery can send: election information, ballots, party communications (limited amount under El Lex), and L'Chronica.

If the initiative is in L'Chronica, it can go out. Check with Miestra as I believe she has taken over publication and see if she will include it in her monthly digest.

I see.  So the issue is just that we're still getting so few immigrants that there's no work for TalossaAssistants beyond that one example?  Yikes.  Okay.  Thanks for the update!

We seem to be getting a good level of applications, but few of the applicants are actually posting and interacting on Witt.
