Estimadâs és estimats citaxhiêns!

As of today 49 citizens of Talossa, one former citizen who struck out and one prospective are registered on New Wittenberg.

The government previously set a target of 50 citizens. We believe that this is close enough for Government work.

Therefore we officially decree that New Wittenberg at wittenberg.talossa.com is now "Wittenberg" as referred to in El Lexhatx Title J, and all official business - Government, Ziu, Corts and the Royal Civil Service, will henceforth be carried out there.

We also humbly request:

- that the Secretary of State and the Chancery quickly move towards establishing standards of "Wittiquette" and methods of enforcing the same, as mandated in El Lexhatx Title J;
- that (if possible) henceforth posting new threads should be disabled on "Old Witt", although responding to existing threads should be left open for a while. If this is not technically possible, then @the King and the SoS should strongly encourage this behaviour.

We are aware that @Ián Tamorán is still having trouble accessing the talossa.com domain, and until these issues are sorted out, he gets a special dispensation to continue to post on OldWitt.

Questions? Comments?

(Holy balls, I think I just realised that the SoS is not actually registered for New Witt yet!)  :o

I said a few days ago that I was kind of shocked to see Cresti Caveglhet on the list of striker-outers.  The fact that he registered an account of New Witt right before striking out makes it all the more odd.

Obviously the compulsory-voting rule isn't actually working to make sure that those who are still interested in Talossa keep voting.

There are two reasons for keeping archives:

1) for people to be able to write histories of Talossa later, or at least being able to do historical research (eg. the Cort has just called for emails that were written 6 years ago);

2) for obsessives to find out whether X person badmouthed them on a private forum 10 years ago, so they can bring it up in unrelated political arguments later (not that I know anyone who does that 8))

But honestly, there is no real point in keeping archives if someone doesn't write the histories to make them understandable to newcomers, otherwise they're just noise. One problem was that KR1 was trained in history-writing and thus knew how to write a narrative, although of course his narratives were politically tendentious at best. There has been no Talossan history written worthy of the name since A Nation Sundered. Honestly, the fact that the pre-Reunision Kingdom overreacted to Ben's lying histories by deciding to have no history at all is in itself a tragedy.

Quote from: Lüc on December 23, 2019, 07:10:10 AMSadly I'm not so confident that we will get to see "official", lawful operation of this forum happen anytime soon.

The target of 50 registrations was an arbitrary one and can be ignored if the Government decides to do so.

The candidate in question was Andy Park of the AMP, and you'd have to ask him why he withdrew his candidacy after I asked him for a 50-word statement.

Sir Alex, your graphics do not seem to be appearing on this Witt?

I have absolutely no objections to this. Well done.

I wonder if Cresti Sierviciul or anyone else has the final membership rolls for the CÚG to help us? I'm pretty sure I'm a CÚG member but I can't actually remember

Wittenberg / 40 ÅRS REGIPÄTS TALOSSAN - Celevraziuns
December 11, 2019, 02:52:54 PM
2 weeks from now is Independence Day #40, forty years since a teenage boy in Milwaukee declared his bedroom an independent state, and didn't get tired of the project.

The Cabinet have been tossing around various ideas for how to celebrate this, and here's what we've come up with for now:

  • Live broadcast (and recorded video) of this year's Speech from the Throne
  • Approaching Milwaukee-area news media for coverage
  • A Living Cosâ and/or Senäts via videoconferencing in May, to celebrate 35 years since the first democratic elections and Ziu

I now throw the question open to the nation. Let's at least try to make it more successful than East Germany's 40th anniversary year.

How about a good place to start is to convert l'Overstéir so it gives "Marcel's Provisional Standard" spelling as well as the Classic and Common ones?

Documents to be translated:
Wiki front page, language-related pages, government-related pages (not necessarily laws just yet) for a start. An other forthcoming ideas are welcome for consideration.

Lüc has suggested one.

QuoteIn addition, there's the Twitter account where opportunities to use the language can be advertised.

Good idea. Has @the Minister of STUFF, who's in charge of our social media accounts, got comment on this?

The existence of any levels of organization beyond la SIGN is relatively moot until such time as an official standard can be created for the Talossan language.

Well, we have one now (provisionally). It's the standard in @Marcel's PDF linked in his signature, until SIGN is officially set up and can set a different one.

Do you have any suggestions for documents to be translated? What of the project of glheþinaziun of this forum? And what is your plan of work for the other main part of your role, i.e. promoting the use of the language?

Sorry, I assumed that because I tagged you in this thread you would have seen it by now - my apologies.

Alèx S I believe

Well, he's sadly gone now, so I don't think it's realistic to expect someone else to pick it up and do it in the same way. That said, I totally support some kind of e-sport competition.

Let me be crystal clear about the procedure from here.

1) The Provisional Standard, which will be used for the glheþinaziun of NewWitt and for all other official purposes until replaced by a long-term standard, is whatever Marcel as Provisional Convenor of SIGN says it is until SIGN is operating, and that is the PDF in Marcel's signature until I'm informed otherwise by Marcel.
2)  The rest of you should be prioritizing getting SIGN up and running so you can establish the rules and procedure whereby we will create a long-term standard. As soon as the SIGN rules are established, Marcel's "linguistic dictatorship" ends. I am not opposed to discussion about linguistic norms; but I think the #1 priority, without which no real progress is possible, is to establish SIGN.
3) I'm not happy that @the Ladîntsch Naziunál has so far ignored my question about how he intends to do his job.

I am more than happy for all the debate and discussion in the world, but I am setting priorities for action here because I will not allow another 2 years of faffing around (and if I can't stop it, it will at least be clear it was not my fault that the language community collapsed).
