It is my pleasure to open call for bills of the July 2022 Clark.

Eventually, the clark can be viewed in real time here:

www.talossa.ca/files/cosa_vote_result.php?cosa=57&clark=2 (for the votes)

and here:

www.talossa.ca/files/clark.php?cosa=57&clark=2 (for the bills )

It is NOT too late to submit bills, of course, as you have OFFICIALLY until the morning of the 30th of this month, provided your bills have been in the Hopper before end of business day the 15th, of course. I will make the Clark on July 1st's morning and bills submitted up to a few hours before that will probably also be taken.

PLEASE note that in order to support a bill, you need to:

1 ) Be a Senator, the Secretary of State or the King
or
2 ) Have been nominated as a Cosa Member for the upcoming Clark BEFORE the 15th,

To vote on the Clark, you will once again have 2 options:

1 ) You will be able to vote in the Clark thread (which will be created later on the 1st of July), as usual. I will enter your votes in the DB.

2 ) You will be able to vote directly in the database, using your usernumber and DB password (which you can retrieve at: www.talossa.ca/files/login.php using the PSC of the election) or by login via Facebook (which retrieve manual activation on my part).

RZ2 failed 99-101 in the Cosa and 1-7 in the Senäts
RZ3 failed 102-98 in the Cosa and 6-2 in the Senäts (2/3 required in the Cosa).

The VoC passed 120-67.

MCs Antonio Montagnha and Vitxalmour Axhairsegol did not vote.

Azul,

Can you be specific as to what you desire to be created?

Thanks,

It is all well and good for anyone to propose changes that a supermajority can agree to in the way the Kingdom functions.  It is another matter to propose changes that would in the opinion of some to be an improvement, while that in the opinion of others is a radical change from one form of government to another entirely.

And yet, in the face of a stable opposition where one party polled at a level greater than any other single party (at 39% of the whole), a coalition of other parties seeks to achieve changes that the current law of the land does not support based upon that opposition.  Ad hominem attacks seek to deflect away from this core concept.

... I've read this post over and over again and I can't actually work out what it means.

Can the author - a TNC MC - say what he thinks would be a good monarchy reform? "None" is an acceptable answer, and indeed the one I'm expecting.

I believe there are some good technical elements to reform of how a convocation would be conducted, however, that would need to happen only at a time of the demise, abdication, or removal from the throne of the monarch, not as a scheduled event.

When the King has "reigned for at least seven years since the previous Convocation" remains a fundamental change from monarchy to a republican form of government, as the word King in that case is changed in meaning to be equivalent with President or Chief Executive or similar.
Can this be taken to be an official TNC position? If so, the boycott can end.

I won't take anything they say as official unless it comes from their leadership.

Just a heads up that I'm down and out right now. COVID is really kicking my butt right now. If I don't respond to something right away, you'll know why.

I have a sinking feeling it might be former citizen Sevastáin Pinátsch.

Sevastáin Pinátsch is still a citizen, though he last voted in the 55th Cosa and may lose his citizenship in a future cycle.

As a point of order here, while it is true that Terpelaziuns as defined in El Lexhatx H.2 only apply to members of the Government, El Lexhatx C.2.1 suggests that the Secretary of State can be called to account by the Túischac'h and Mençéi as representatives of the Ziu. And of course anyone is entitled to ask any questions of anyone, "informally" outwith the Ziu.

That's correct, thus why I answered, even though neither the Túischac'h and Mençéi asked me a question.

You did not answer my question

With all due respect, I did answer the question, but I forgot to mention the current version (which is at the bottom of every page of Witt). 2.0.19. Also, out of respect, a terpelaziun is intended to be directed at an MC or a government minister (El. Lex H2). I answered as a courtesy, not expecting the sharply worded reply from the honorable Senator.

Dr. dal Nordselva I did thank you for your answer and still do appreciate your courtesy. Although I must apologize for a typo! I left the "you did not answer my question" on accidentally. I thought I had erased that when I hit submit. That is why the statement does not have a period. I can't apologize for my reply concerning conflation of your roles as that is a matter of principle on which, as my party mates know, I feel quite strongly.

No worries Senator. I'm not asking for an apology, but I was stunned at the last sentence. As the inimitable Kermit the Frog sang in "The Muppet Movie" in my seventh year way back in 1979 (and a staple of my childhood!). "Moving right along."

Administration of Wittenberg is part of the responsibility of the Chancery, so I think I'll have to defer to the SoS on this issue.

Thank you Minister. Secretary of State/Party Leader @Dr. Txec Róibeard dal Nordselvă, Esq., O.SPM, SMM would you be willing to advise the Ziu on this matter?

There are currently no plans to upgrade at this time. It appears to be both time intensive and, frankly, a bit scary to do, as I don't want to break things, and I'm not confident in my own technical abilities in regards to SMF upgrades. My most immediate concern is replacing or taking Chancery control of the national database. However, if and when I do plan on upgrading, I'd be happy to let you know.

As a point of personal privilege, I would ask the honorable Senator to not conflate my title of Secretary of State with my current role as leader of the Free Democrats. Those two titles are not tied together, nor should they be, as I endeavor in all matters to be impartial in my leadership of the Chancery.

Edit: I did a quick look and even if I could upgrade, I can't do it. I don't have FTP access to the server that hosts our forum. That is outside of my role.

I answered several times? I think it's not acceptable, and I want him to check in more, and I'm encouraged that he is becoming more active lately.

You don't think its acceptable, but there is no consequence? Is this a case of "it's just King John being King John?" The truth be told, I wouldn't even complain if he just logged in a few times a month. Life is busy...but he's our KING and not an ordinary citizen.

Edit: I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something more from the guy who can veto any bill he pleases. No mere Seneschal or MC or SoS can do that. Just the king.

Still no answer to my question, but lots of other comments about things I didn't ask about.

QuoteIs 42 days acceptable? I'm sure that question will not be answered, and that's ok also. For me, 42 days is 41 days too long.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on June 01, 2022, 11:18:46 AMI mean, I guess it's not weird -- it's understandable that the FDT would want to change the subject at this point from their legislative blockade.  But come on... after this last term, the FDT doesn't really have a leg to stand on, here.

You can call my post what you want, but it's not a change in subject. I've been considering posting this long before we even talked about a boycott.

By the way, and you know this, it is not FDT. It is FreeDems. Thanks.

I'm not talking about the Seneschal. I'm talking about the King. I prodded the Seneschal frequently, and he at least responded to me. I'm frustrated because it has been 42 days since the last post by the King. I'm frustrated because no one is actually answering my question. Is 42 days acceptable?

Listen, I like King John. I've met him and had dinner with him and Hooligan. He convinced me to try rocky mountain oysters and we enjoyed some adult beverages. He's a nice guy. I'm not impugning him I just want to engage with him more. Is that too much to ask for? I'd like to be able to send the King an email and know he'll respond. I don't expect daily check-ins. I'm not his employer.

You can call me a hypocrite (you didn't but it was certainly implied), or pretend my motives are political (they aren't). Do what you want. Call me ineffectual or whatever. I want that pomp that I thought I was getting (and we used to have much more of). I'm sure some people have not been kind, I'm not one of them. I'm always respectful and thoughtful. I am also frustrated and I get to be.

Yep. 42 days.
