Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on April 11, 2024, 08:02:25 AM@Sir Lüc I am requesting this amendment be moved to the CRL for review.

I would friendly suggest you held off on this as lively debate on merits seems to still be going on; remember there's plenty of time for CRL review before the next Call for Bills opens.

Agreed, sorry I forgot to post that I was withdrawing my request for movement to the CRL. It looks like we are now focusing on the amendment proposed by Miestra so this one is now on hold.

No worries and noted!

Quote from: Sir Lüc on April 08, 2024, 04:26:35 AMThat works just fine then -- I'll handle the mass mailing for the referendum myself.

On a different note, I'm now thinking we should get the voting done with sooner rather than later, since it's not like the pool of feedback-givers is getting markedly broader at this stage of the process.

I would agree. Is there...some sort of motion we need to make to move to a vote?

No, just the presiding officer of the Assembly (you) holding such a vote, I think.

Quote from: Mic'haglh Autófil, SMC EiP on April 04, 2024, 11:33:12 PMOne thing I have thought of -- this bill as worded requires a referendum. Presumably, that would require polling Benitians whether or not they are on Witt, which means emails. At this point, would it make sense to wait and send this out as part of the General Election ballot? Can GE ballots contain questions specific to voters from one province, apart from Senatorial elections?

Perhaps @Sir Txec dal Nordselvă, UrB could weigh in on what the Chancery's capabilities are?

The Chancery doesn't conduct local referendum elections. However, it is allowable under the law to provide to the provincial Governor (or whatever term you use locally) with the email address of those citizens who opt in to receiving emails.

Can the Chancery also send out mass mailers without divulging email addresses, or is that only reserved to party leaders in general election campaigns?

Quote from: Sir Lüc on April 03, 2024, 08:44:46 AMI would like to cosponsor this, and to bring it to a vote as soon as practical.

I mean...you control an outright majority of seats, I'm pretty sure you can vote to approve it whenever you want lol

That's hardly a reason to literally put it immediately for a vote.

The bill has been rejected by the Ziu and has been returned to the Hopper.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, @mximo , has not returned an answer within the week -- he has a further week to do so, or the Seneschal may alternatively answer this Terpelaziun in his stead with the same time limit.

Benito / Re: Thoughts on reforms

Quote from: Sir Lüc on March 27, 2024, 11:54:00 AM(Iason is technically a *current*, not a *former* national Senator)

Quick note that I made the major oversight of not checking what the letter of the law is; it says "all people who have served as Senator of Benito in the past", and this is definitely the case for Iason regardless of the fact he's also the current Senator.

Yeah, I'm inclined to say snooze and lose, at least at this point in the process. When the Chancellery passes an amendment and it gets to a provincial referendum, we'll see if we can get the Chancery to send a mailer out.

Benito / Senate of Benito for the 59th Cosă
March 27, 2024, 02:12:11 PM
By my judgement, the roll of the Senate of Benito is S:reux da Schir, @Iason Taiwos, @Flip Molinar, @Istefan Perþonest, Tric'hard Carschaleir and @Mic'haglh Autófil, SMC EiP .

Pursuant to Article 8 of the Constitution of Benito, as the first order of business of the Senate of Benito, I move that Senator Autófil do take the chair as Speaker.

Furthermore, in the interest of not double-jobbing between the Assembly and the provincial Senate, I would like to give advance notice of my intention to move that, without objection, once a Speaker has been selected I am excused from the service to this Senate for the remainder of the term.
