Greetings fellow Scholars,
I move for a vote on the proposal to award Society members Post-Nominals in accordance with their current status within the organization as proposed on March 6th, 2020 as follows:
Associate - RS
Fellow - FRS
Senior Fellow - SFRS
Respectfully Submitted,
Gen. Txoteu É. Davinescu, MAMS
Senior Fellow
I vote Per
Per. Why not?
We now have two in favor, can we get a chime in from the President?
Davinescu, O.SPM
Yes - it seems like a good idea.... though we might end up having more title than name to our signature! ;)
I am not a member of the Royal Society, and although I do represent its patron, that doesn't seem like it should entitle me to a vote. But I did teach two actual full classes with full rosters of students, both of which were carried through to completion and from which students were able to matriculate: one on Hemingway and a seminar on wikimarkup. So hopefully this body will value my perspective.
Anyway, from what I can see, very few of the members of the Royal Society have been measuring up to the requirements of their positions. Fellows and Senior Fellows (including the President) are expected to deliver annual lectures to the Society that pertain to their scholarly interest. I can name perhaps one or two Fellows who have done this in any reasonable form. Fellows are also expected to produce a twice-yearly symposium, but I am not aware of one.
So perhaps I could suggest that postnominals only be offered to those Fellows who are in good standing, rather than those who wrote a short essay once, some years ago?
Greetings Scholars,
As this vote has long since passed the membership, unless there are any objections, from this day forward... the following Post-Nominals are available for use by members of the Royal Society:
Associate - RS
Fellow - FRS
Senior Fellow - SFRS
Respectfully,
Gen. Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM, SFRS, MA
Seneschal of Talossa

What entitles someone to use the various levels of post nominal?

I believe the levels are:
Associate Fellow - anyone
Fellow - at least high school diploma
Senior Fellow - at least 2-year college degree
Come to think of it, I'm eligible to advance my membership to Senior Fellow

I would say recognized membership in the Royal Society, honorably serving for 1+ years
