Your application is received, grats.

It has been a while since we assigned anything to the Well-Met Fellow.  @C.d.I. Nouacastra-Läxhirescu, MSC , would you like to take this one?

-Dean of the College

Seems like a no!  Perhaps @Mic'haglh Autófil, MC EiP would like to take this on, instead -- S:reu Long Fellow, how about it?

Following consultation with the requestor, I submit the following blazon:

Quarterly vert and gules, I. palewise a muted horn argent, over all a cross ermine.

Not sure if it would be easier to say "palewise a muted horn argent in the canton", I know traditionally quarters are referred to using Roman numerals, but open to suggestions.

Estimat Squirrel Viceroy of Arms,
Are there other duties to be fulfilled on my side to have my request for Arms presented for St Aaron's day ?

Once the Dean accepts the blazon and emblazonment, it will be presented to the king. I made an observation as to the proper blazon, and so far have had no reply from The Long Fellow, @Mic'haglh Autófil, MC EiP.

Have patience, this will get done, but a good grant of arms is always worth waiting for!

Viceroy and Long Fellow and petitioner,

The muted horn appears to be argent and sanguine -- I'm wondering whether or not the mute should also be argent, or whether it should be blazoned differently, or whether this is fine.  I'm fairly sure that Fox-Davies has something on the subject, but haven't had a chance to look it up yet.

So, the horn is a pretty old charge, and it usually takes the form of a traditional hunting horn.  That's clearly not the intention here.  I don't know much about instruments, but if there's an easy way to more specifically describe the instrument (a trumpet?), it'd be good to use that.  Not a huge deal if it's just a generic modern horn.

Fox-Davies suggests that when the accoutrement of an item has a different tincture, and it's not a well-established convention, that should be mentioned -- as when a bugle-horn is "veruled" with ribbons of a different tincture.  So I'd suggest that the mute's tincture needs to be described.

Quarterly vert and gules, in dexter palewise a muted horn argent and sanguine, over all a cross ermine.

or

Quarterly vert and gules, in dexter palewise a muted horn proper, over all a cross ermine.

Would the sanguine mute of the horn violate the rule of a color on a color?

I don't think so, tentatively, since the charge overall obeys the rule of tincture -- like, I think you could have sable, a rose sanguine slipped or.  But you raise a good point.  Maybe the mute could be sable?  What color are mutes?

Usually silvery. Except for practice mutes, which are plastic doodads.

So that would neatly solve the issue - the Viceroy's blazon is perfect.  The emblazonment would just need to be adjusted to make the mute argent.

Quarterly vert and gules, in dexter palewise a muted horn argent, over all a cross ermine.

Ok for a mute argent ! Shall we add 'mouth down' to specify orientation ?

Once the emblazonment is updated, we'll be good to take it to the king for (hopefully) the St. Aaron's Day Honours.

I'm ok with changing the color of the mute -- in my experience, mutes usually look like this (https://trumpetheroes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_7048-1024x683.jpeg), which is why I used the red. (And to answer the Noir Raven Herald's assumption, correct -- a more bugle-like shape was requested as it has the happy coincidence of resembling S:reu Sant-Enogat's first initial of Þ.

However, would a horn in dexter not simply be to the viewer's left, with the vertical positioning indeterminate? Would something like in chief dexter be more appropriate?

Emblazonment updated as requested, but still waiting for a clarification on the blazon.

With our apologies, in looking over the RTCoA board, I realized we never asked the King to grant these arms. I've petitioned His Majesty to grant them at the next day of honours on 26 December.

All the Best for today.

However, should the nation's colour be used by an individual armiger?
