Title: HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING could I be housed at the embassy if I commited a crime?
Post by: NRB on March 18, 2022, 01:45:50 PM
let's say HYPOTHETICALLY somebody pulled a United States Senator out of his wheelchair and violently beat him to death in front of his friends Lauren and Marjorie

Could the person who committed this act seek safety in the Talossan embassy in the United States?

I am not a legal expert on matters like this, and I thought it was an interesting question to ponder. This is all hypothetical of course and should not be taken literally, just as an intellectual exercise.

Thanks!

This should be called the Charles Sumner Intellectual Exercise.

Could they seek safety? Yes.
Would it be "legal"? Yes.

"Legal" won't help you, though, when the physical might of the U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI, and the Milwaukee police ignore Talossa's sovereignty and apprehend you against your will and over any objections that the Talossa Foreign Minister may lodge.

Might makes right ;)

A guy who identifies as anarchist and yet votes for Talossa's conservative-monarchist party might believe in anything!

i don't give a crap about electoral politics, voting is just begging for more crumbs from the table of the elite. I voted the way I did because I was paid in exchange for my vote. I don't know if selling my vote is legal or not, and I don't really care to be honest.

If you want to affect real change then I am right there with you comrade, but it has to come from the masses, not from the powerful elite at the top. The only way the people have gained any power or freedom for themselves has been by fighting for it. People bled and died for things we take for granted - union men and women and nonbinary folks shed lifeblood for weekends and overtime, and it's important to remember that.

If you think the way I voted was foolish, I will agree with you. No politician will save us. It is up to us to seize power for ourselves, using any means necessary.

edit: i forgot to include my nonbinary comrades

It's a good thing no one takes you seriously because that's not allowed

Just for the record, we need the TNC to deny this

Even if they denied it, would we believe them, knowing their evidenced record of deceit and hypocrisy?

ATTENTION TNC: here's how you get out of this

Admit you paid me, and then add, "Also it's not true that we always lie."

you'll be hoisting this Açafat del Val dude by his own pee turd

I was going to say admit it and then say, "Also, we are deceitful and always lie," but that would be a paradox or something

Noted. :) But if I followed your advice it would run counter to my dedication to increasing activity and might discourage the lodging of another cort case.
