Thank you!

Done! Thank you for being a guinea pig for the new system!
Fun fact: this was the design back in 2016, when we first issued cards. I don't remember who made the design, but boy is it different!

Actually that reminds me that Sir Cresti advised us to put that warning on the back -- better add that back in.

Done!
@Sir Txec dal Nordselvă, UrB , can you sticky this and unsticky the other one, please?
Sure. Done.
Can I just say that I am surprised and delighted that the new Government has not abolished the Civics Test like they said they were going to. Not that it matters, but I'm wondering why the change of heart?

Hm. I am a deputy leader of the party, and I am not aware of such a promise. Could you show me where that was said?
Anyway.
The first applications have come through, and once we hit a minimum number, we'll send them off to the printer's. It's cheaper per card to do ten at a time, so if you haven't yet done so, take the (easy) test (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfi2h6bGFI7l7JugZw86Vzh-9_hEujVx_4jBj2-AI7Tf_dJow/viewform?usp=sf_link) and apply for a card!
Please forward me the application as I passed the test some time back (sometime around the election season).
Thank you!
I guess that takes the count to three...
Done! A few other people are in the process -- I think we'll have seven applicants in the first batch? Would be good to get an even ten, to save money, but that's okay.
Hello I've attended the civics test and i passed also i finished filling out the form so is there anything else that I need to do my email id is naseerahamed0506@gmail.com
Test passed and submission sent ! Excited to receive my new ID and try it at the customs
Just FYI to all: we're almost at ten responses, which is going to be the size of the first batch. There might be another batch sent out this term, but that's uncertain -- if you were thinking about getting an ID card, now is the time!
When can we expect to receive our ID cards? Ever?

This is unnecessarily rude S:reu Seneschal. How exactly would you like me to make things move faster? Shall I learn how to hack the database? Force MPF to work less hours to assist me?

No, it is no more rude than you suggesting "ever?" as an appropriate inquiry for receipt of the ID cards. My point was to be weary of glass houses when complaining, Mr. Secretary.
If we need to drop the Skills Initiative to get the Census going then that might be the way forward or consider a different option for distribution entirely. But not doing it is unacceptable.

So your strategy is if you think someone is being rude, let's also be rude? Gotcha. I wasn't being intentionally rude, and I apologize for using the word ever. I'm just as annoyed at your government as the previous government over this issue but it was beneath me nevertheless.
As for the census, I would love to implement it. I literally have no way of manually beginning it, as I explained previously. It was my understanding from early in my time as Secretary of State that it was automatic as a census occurred without my input right after I took over. I believe now I was wrong and it must be triggered. I'm sorry that it has not happened. This is something I personally do not control.

The first batch were poorly-printed, and so I reordered them from a different vendor. I hope to get them out to everyone at the start of next month.

As I understand it, that issue of cards never actually got done, so we rolled you into the next issue.
The current issue closed out when it seemed like we weren't going to get any more applicants, about halfway through June. If you look earlier in the thread, you can see me doing last call in the last couple of days of May. I processed them and sent them to the printer, but the first issue didn't look good when I got them back about two weeks ago. I have selected a different vendor and sent them out again. We expect you should have your ID in your hands by the end of August.
Thank you, Baron. I am almost certain that I'll be moving before then, though I don't have a solid address yet. Can I ask that mine not be mailed out until I have that nailed down?
I probably applied for my initial card as soon as they were available. (You know me, I instantly jump on anything free.) Mic'haglh Autofil sent me a nice letter with my card. The letter was dated July 26, 2022. So it's not quite been a full year since this service was available. (I lost the card and have applied for my second one...yeah, I lost my ID card weeks after I got it, but still have Autofil's letter that accompanied it...)

So the batch that was never sent out was a few months ago but before the severely delayed transferral of the files from Autofil.
Baron, thanks for being on top of this.

Sorry I missed this -- yes, only current citizens are eligible.
The new cards are here, and they look great! I'm sending them off to recipients this week, so keep an eye on your mailbox next week!
Fingers crossed mine is in that batch!
It is, yes. It took me a while to get yours finalized to send to the printers, though, because every time I try to edit your photo into the SVG, it gave me an "ERROR: PICTURE TOO BEAUTIFUL."
Great!

Quote from: Lord Ardmore on January 11, 2024, 12:50:37 PMWow, these look fantastic. I just need to undertake the test, pass, and then remit my passport picture via the secured email to qualify for the id card. I will definitely be doing this later this week, and very impressive designs, and would they be able to be posted to my address here in Hong Kong too thanks you?
I believe you also must be a citizen of Talossa to qualify for one.

I want a card as well but I'll have to study for the test.
The link to the test is in the initial post. It is automated, and doesn't require my permission. If you get 75% or more, you may fill out the application for a card found at the end of the test. Cards will be processed according to a strict "when I get a chance" basis (or ideally sooner, if the Seneschal has someone else do it).
I'm still a "Prospective Citizen" but took the quiz and submitted the form.

Relax folks, your ID cards will come. Imagine a time when citizens would go for YEARS without an ID card. Some of you've been citizens for a very short time, and the Baron has had some serious family issues recently. Nothing happens overnight in Talossa as it is a purely volunteer-based nation.

ID cards might not happen overnight but some stuff does.
Yes, because the stuff that happens overnight is the kind of stuff that you can do with a few clicks on a mouse. ID cards are real, hard, Talossanity, that needs to be organised with printers etc.
The Civics Test I set up is here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfi2h6bGFI7l7JugZw86Vzh-9_hEujVx_4jBj2-AI7Tf_dJow/viewform?usp=sf_link). If you take the Civics Test, you will receive a link at the end directing you to the ID Card form.
Right now, I see six applications since the last time I issued cards. When I get a chance, I will get started on the process. I completely understand that people are eager, and it's great! But please be patient. I will keep everyone updated on the timeframe, but here's my current plan:
- Validate all tests. I have to check to make sure everyone got the required score and that they're all current citizens. This will take very little time, and I will do that tonight.
- Validate info. I have to make sure that I have all required information. Technically I could just reject applications that were not following directions, but I usually reach out in private to fix the application, instead. Last time, a third of all applications needed fixing.
- Process the cards. Most of this is automated, but the profile and signature images need to be done manually. This usually only takes me five to ten minutes apiece.
- Printing. This takes up to two weeks, although it might be less time since it's already been set once.
- Mailing. Fairly variable, but I'm in the continental United States, so you can do your own reckoning
I'll be getting started tonight -- my apologies to anyone who had to wait.
Side note:
If you want an ID card in the next batch, you are almost out of time to apply.
I had already passed the Civics Test once, but I can't find the link for applying for a card. What should I do?

Yes, you're good. I probably should have added you to the official list, but I have a note in my file to remind me about you from when we last talked.
The only problem application right now is Txec's, since I'm sure there's some law about me issuing multiple IDs so quickly, especially when his explicit purpose is "to commit crimes and stuff." Also these pictures he sent in are wildly inappropriate.

Which Txec are you talking about? It certainly isn't me!
I understand. 😉
Quick update: out of fourteen applicants, seven have been verified as actual citizens passing the test with at least the minimum 70%. Others either failed to ever take the test, failed to pass the test, or failed at being citizens (the worst failure of all).
I have also checked all the verified applications at this time, and even though some of these things are "signatures" in only the most technical sense, most people had everything in order. Those people who were missing things have been individually contacted. I will wait a maximum of three days before proceeding, unless those involved wish to pay my bribe. (And I'm a member of the landed nobility, so that's a steep price.)
Probably we'll go to the printer's by the week's end, since I feel guilty for not attending to this earlier.
EDIT: If you want to know if your application is all set, shoot me a PM. It's illegal to even disclose that you applied (since it's personal information held by the government) but I can confirm to you.
@Baron Alexandreu Davinescu, when would ID cars approx. arrive via overseas shipping, e.g. Germany, where I live?
I do not know how long it usually takes mail to travel from the continental United States to Germany. I always use the cheapest postage, though, so I would imagine it would take a couple of weeks maybe?
If I recall correctly, Miestra got hers in about two weeks from date of mailing, and that's a significantly longer trip than Germany.

Let's hope DHL doesn't ship it because when my card arrives while I'm at school, they'll just leave a note telling to pick it up at a designated postal office.

1) Why is that an issue? I've had that happen to me a bunch of times and it's not that big a deal.
2) If the package is flat enough to fit through a mailbox slot (as I expect it will be), chances are they will just put it in your mailbox. That's what happened to me when I ordered playing cards online.

How long on average does it take for a batch of cards to be printed though?

Well, I don't really have an average, but my understanding is that typically it takes a few days for the order to be processed into their queue, and then somewhere between two or three weeks before they're produced, and then a few days in the mail. After that, it will take me somewhere between a week or two to get them out in the mail. (I could hypothetically do it in a day, but I'm just being realistic here since I have a full-time job and three small children and I help lead a group of political activists, outside of Talossa.)
When I get a shipping notification, I will let you know. I understand the enthusiasm -- these cards are indeed really cool, and they look and feel very professional. They're a great thing to show your friends.

Hope I will get to make a piece of Talossa that would be

True story: I keep my Talossan ID card underneath my Ohio drivers license in my wallet. The other day I ran up to our local Dollar General to pick a few items. While there, I decided to get some beer. Dollar General makes you show some kind of legal ID to purchase alcohol or nicotine. (I think that's required by state law, but most places around here just ask you what your birthdate is.) Not really paying attention, I pulled out my Talossan ID by accident, and handed it to the clerk. They looked at it, handed it back to me, and finished ringing up my purchases. I didn't realize I'd given them the wrong card until I was putting it back in my wallet. For a split second I was worried about them reporting me for trying to pass off a fake ID, but I figured the clerk probably didn't care enough. (Besides, if I don't look old enough to buy beer and cigarettes, who does?) So mark this down as the first time in history a Talossan ID card was considered a legit form of personal identification.) (The clerk looked like a bored teenager who hated her job, so I'll probably not get away with that again.)

I think we can now say accepted as ID verification...with an asterisk denoting the Ohio Dollar General location.
I just wish I would already receive mine. With that I would have two forms of ID always on me: my student ID and my Talossan ID.

My academic year just ended; I haven't gotten the envelopes filled out or the postage purchased. Hopefully this week :)
I just passed my test and submitted my application. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture with a blank background but the picture that I chose has me with the background of La Mar Talossan. Also I can't write my own signature, or anyone else's for that matter, so I submitted another picture in that field just to get the application to go through. I have a stamp with my American name but I should really get one with the Talossan name as well. I know that I have to wait for the next batch to be shipped out because I just missed this one but that's fine I'm totally okay waiting as long as I need to to get something so special. Thank you.

You may have seen the thread where I detailed some recent family misfortunes, and so those have held me up. I only returned back home about two hours ago from Florida. I can say with gratitude that the new Government has offered to take over and fulfill outstanding requests, and I am happy to accept their generous offer.

Right... I also forgot about that as well...
I applied for a card in 2022...still haven't seen it.
I'm on it. Announcement soon.
Same here , I never got a chance to see the ID card. Wondering why?
I passed my citizen exam on March and applyed for the ID card. On those days they sent them in batches of 5, and at that time there were 4 applications with mine, so teorically with one more applicant should be enough for printing that batch. Unfortunately I´m still waitting for the ID card here in Europe. Maybe one day...
Would be nice for my Christmas present.
