I certainly support the discussion of other liquors here in connection to our enjoyment of science fiction and fantasy.
I am actually about to bake a type of cake which uses rum.

I had one of my favorite drinks called a Dark 'n' Stormy (Goslings dark rum, ginger beer and a bit of lime) last night and started a new book by Brandon Sanderson called "The Way Of Kings" which is book one of The Stormlight Archive. Only one chapter in so far so it is difficult to judge...hoping for the best.

I'm not a big vodka fan so while I have tried it I can't say it is one of my favorites.
