Application Received - 31 March 2024
Application Eligible for Petition - 15 days after first post from applicant on Witt, i.e. 14 April
The Ministry of Immigration, using information provided in the application and after investigating to the best of its ability, is satisfied that this application is Bona Fide.
Applicant Name:
Sam Yackel
Gender:
Male
Year of Birth:
1985
Location:
Deforest, Wisconsin, USA
Prospective Province:
Benito
Have you been introduced to the Kingdom of Talossa by an existing citizen?
NO
Do you have any previous experience with, or membership in, any "micronations"?
NO
Is it okay if Talossan citizens contact you by e-mail?
YES
Is it okay if Talossan citizens contact you by telephone?
NO
About Myself:
I feel that the belonging to a Micro nation provides an opportunity to do so much without actually accomplishing anything at all.
Why I am Interested in Becoming a Talossan:
To become Talossan is a boy of a misnomer, I believe one is born Talossan and thr formal application is only a formality. To be part of something so small, with infinite possibilities is exciting and daunting.
Where did you hear about the Kingdom of Talossa?
Random internet surfing
Azul Sam
@Syackel ! Welcome to our Kingdom!
As you can see above, we have posted your application on the forum (without your contact information) for other citizens to see. They will ask you questions and you can ask them questions. This is so that you can get to know us and we can get to know you.
After 15 days from your first forum post, if you have proven to be an active and interested prospective citizen, one of the current citizens will petition the Royal Chancery to grant you full citizenship.
Note! It is very important that you are active in discussions on Wittenberg if you want to become a citizen. If you can't see discussions that interest you, feel free to start your own.
Please also see the New Citizens Guide (https://talossa.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/New-Citizens-Guide.pdf) and Qet Paßa (https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?topic=2911.0) for general information and an activities guide for Talossa.
We are happy to have you in Talossa!
Wishing you all the very best,
þerxh
Thank you for the intro, living in WI, I'm obviously extremely interested in thr idea of a Micro-nation right in my backyard. Please feel free to ask me anything and I'll do my best to be a productive member of society and answer all questions as thoroughly as possible.
Currently, I only speak English and Spanish.
Sam
Yes, you are among the happy few of us able to visit Milwaukee and the historical cradle of our Kingdom !
As Deforest is located in Dane county, you are therefore a prospective citizen of the famous Province of Benito (https://wiki.talossa.com/Benito)
Some of us live far away, but I am personally lucky to live near the Island of Cézembre (https://wiki.talossa.com/C%C3%A9zembre), another Province of the Realm
Welcome, fellow Wisconsinite! I am glad to see our ranks growing.
@Mic'haglh Autófil is from Oshkosh. I am currently working on recruiting new citizens in Milwaukee.

Hey I'm a Talossan and I don't speak much Talossan as well, I just know the greeting which is azul.
I speak two more languages besides English. German, which I use to survive in Germany and Polish which is my native.
More Wisconsinites! More Benitians! (For however much longer we may be known by that name...) I love to see it.
Welcome, Sam!

This may be the most Talossan sentence ever written on this version of Witt, lol
AZUL!
Azul to all!
I feel very fortunate, to be close to Milwaukee and visit the birthplace of Talossa. Can anyone point me in the direction of a thread that will explain hpw things actually work? Are there actually conventions? Is there ever anything in real time or always on a board discussion?

This (https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?topic=2605.0) is similar to a convention.

It's also the nearest piece of Talossan soil I live to but it's 1147 kilometres away from me (that's the shortest route Google offers!)

From my understanding, there
used to be more in-person meetups, mostly held amongst the core of "Old Growth" Talossans, but with others present as well.
That said there are, counting you, now at least four relatively active citizens or prospective citizens in the MKE/Madison/Fox Cities triangle, so...nothing is really stopping us.
Talossan meetup to imbibe the national currency when?As far as finding out how "things actually work"...I suppose it depends on what you're interested in learning about first!
Well, what are the most active sections? Are there distinct parties? I wanna see how the sausage is made.

I think most people here would agree that politics is definitely one of the more active segments of Talossan life, lol. That said...it's considered sort of a faux pas to discuss politics in too much detail with prospective citizens, in order to avoid potentially coloring their perceptions before they even become a citizen. I will say that you can find a summary on currently active parties here (https://wiki.talossa.com/Political_parties). I'll leave it to people who have been Talossan much longer than I have to maybe expand on where the limits of politics with prospectives are. (Your first lesson in Talossan English: recruiting citizens with the intent of getting them to join your party is called
broosking. Where "acceptable political discussion with prospectives" crosses the border into broosking is...a good question, so I'm choosing to play it safe.) If nothing else, I think anything on TalossaWiki probably counts as fair game, since anyone can read that regardless of their citizenship. (Seriously, the wiki is your friend.)
Apart from that, may not be a terrible idea to get a bit more acquainted with the province you'll end up in as a citizen. Like all the greatest Talossans, you'll be in Benito along with yours truly. Our provincial board is over here (https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?board=11.0). We're actually seeing a relatively high amount of provincial activity in Benito lately, in part because we're looking at changing our name and also simplifying the province's governmental structure. It's a good time to get in on the ground floor in The Province So Nice They Named It Twice!
Otherwise, maybe take a peek at some of the Special Interest Boards? They can be found on the main Witt page, down at the bottom. Heraldry, the Talossan Science Fiction & Whiskey Society, the University of Talossa...we've got a bit of everything! (I'm going to point out that I don't know which of these boards are visible to prospective citizens. Not everything is, unfortunately...)

Probably the most active sections are L'Óspileu/The Chat Room, Wittenberg, Cézembre and Benito waiting to be renamed to Belacostă which I hope it happens as I associate it with the fascist Italian dictator of the same name.

But since the prospective asked, I don't think there's any harm in volunteering information?
The two major political parties in Talossa today are the Talossan National Congress (https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?board=35.0) (government) and the Free Democrats (https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?board=34.0) (opposition). Those are links to their boards on this Forum, but they also have Talossawiki pages: TNC (https://wiki.talossa.com/Talossan_National_Congress), FreeDems (https://wiki.talossa.com/Free_Democrats_of_Talossa)
But also be aware that it's breathtakingly simple to set up your own political party! There have been anything up to 6 or 7 parties represented in the legislature at times.
AZUL!
Sam -- one thing I forgot to mention is that it could be helpful to figure out your Talossan name (https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?board=28.0). Everyone takes a translation of their own name into the Talossan language. It's pretty fun to learn some names' origins, they can get pretty surprising!

What if we make an award for the most Talossan sentences?
