Ballots haven't been sent out yet; I expect to send them out in very short order.

All 131 ballots should have been sent out -- happy voting!

The rules did not account for unexpected (although pleasant) visitors at the SoS's abode 🥲

Azul, I thought I would summarise and comment on the Atatürk/Florencia provincial vote issue outside of the polling thread, as I have now investigated the issue more in depth.

Two voters (Antaglha and Mximo) reported issues with casting their provincial vote:

- In Antaglha's case, the issue was that the PRESENT box was impossible to deselect in the specific combination of settings (strictly write-in vote with a text field) that is used by Atatürk and Florencia's provincial ballot spaces. This was indeed a bug; it was immediately corrected and her vote was amended to reflect her original choice. I have no reason to believe any other vote was lost or miscast because of the original bug.

- In Mximo's case, the claim was that the database would ignore the write-in vote and mark it down as PRESENT. While I thought it could be a plausible bug, I later found no issues with the code, except that the PRESENT box was checked by default, which if not manually unchecked would lead to the vote being ignored. So this was no bug, but it definitely was poor UX implementation, which I apologise for; this was fixed yesterday at around 2 PM TST, and the PRESENT box is now UNchecked by default for this type of race.

However, I am still worried that the initial UX implementation led some people to fill in their provincial vote without unchecking the PRESENT box. Therefore, I will be contacting four voters of Atatürk and Florencia who cast provincial ballots via the database between the Antaglha bugfix and approx. 2 PM TST yesterday, when the UX change was made, in order to confirm their vote.

A quick note to report that we have surpassed 1/3 turnout with two weeks to go, and that two of four voters contacted about correcting their Atatürk/Florencia provincial ballots have reached out to do so.

Seven whole days of voting have elapsed - first round of email reminders will go out tomorrow afternoon CET, so in around 20 hours. I think that also means all three parties who sent out literature should be eligible for a second round of literature. (Though again, I'm going to be fairly busy so anything I receive will also be sent out tomorrow afternoon CET at the earliest)

Reminders sent! Turnout is 42% with 9 days to go.

After almost a full day past reminders we just crossed the 50% turnout mark; just 4 more ballots needed to match the midterm referendum's absolute voter count, and 7 to match the percentage turnout.

One small note is that I forgot about daytime saving being a thing, so the deadline displayed on the database was actually inaccurate by an hour, as it uses server time which is UTC. This has been fixed, but I still plan on adding TST (TDT) and local user timezone displays as well before we get too close to the deadline and the actual number of hours left starts mattering more.

Both the Green Party and Avant have submitted a second piece of campaign literature this evening, and I have just finished forwarding them out.

Exactly seven days to the deadline as I post this!

This has now been done.

Final reminders to 54 non-voters have just been sent out! Turnout is 58.78% with 3 days 11 hours to go.

@Xheralt Del'Encradeir has regained his citizenship before the deadline and is therefore eligible to vote. I have issued him with a ballot accordingly.

I am afraid I have to report that, as detailed here (https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?msg=33066), the assignment of Xherált Del'Encradeir to M-M rather than Vuode was wrongful, since it didn't take into account Lex.E.7.2, which grandfathered him into Vuode. I have contacted him by email to allow him to cure his ballot.

If I receive no reply by the election deadline, which unfortunately is fast approaching, I will discuss the situation with the Electoral Commission and determine whether he should be allowed to cast a late ballot for the Vuodean Senate race.

Hey, quick question: the balloting thread sets the end of the election at 5 pm Talossan Standard Time. But the database (https://database.talossa.com/elections/2025-general-elections) sets it at 5 pm Talossan Daylight Time, an hour earlier?

The database is correct; I simply utterly forgot about daylight savings. The deadline is in two hours and a half.

I've found that regardless of when in the year we're talking about, Talossan Standard Time seems to really be "Talossan Local Time".
