Title: [Terpelaziun] Immigration Minister (May 17)
Post by: Breneir Tzaracomprada on May 09, 2025, 05:16:56 PM
Tuischach,

This enquiry is for the Immigration Minister. I have respectfully enquired to the Seneschal on the official plans for the Government during the coming term without response. I am therefore asking each minister directly for their plans of action during the coming term. To the Immigration Minister, what priorities or specific action items does the Ministry plan to address during this Cosa term?

Tuischach,

This supplemental question is for the Immigration Minister. The Seneschal, in a broad reply to all the terpelaziuns, directed this Opposition member to the recent Throne Speech, where I found the following concerning the Immigration Ministry:

Quote from: þerxh Sant-Enogat on May 11, 2025, 09:21:15 AMWhen it comes to the Government's immigration policy, we note the efforts to distinguish between spam applications and sincere aspirants to Talossan citizenship. At the same time, let us not forget why people from all origins, all level of education and all level of english language want to join us. We must ensure that the gates to our Kingdom remain open to all those who, in good faith, seek to contribute to the Talossan dream – and in all cases we will prefer presenting insufficiently prepared applications rather than seeing them being censored. Our citizens should be able to make their own minds on whether to support or not such application. As former Minister of Immigration, I know the amount of work which is needed behind the administration and the timely processing of immigration applications. The appointment of a Deputy Immigration Minister who himself is a recent immigrant is a positive initiative. May this bring the empathy that this vital portfolio requires.

For the Immigration Minister, besides your recent efforts to distinguish between spam applications and sincere aspirants to Talossan citizenship what other activities or programs will be the focus of the Ministry?

Estimat Túischac'h, can I confirm whether the member understands that he is quoting the Opposition Leader, not the King?

Tuischach,

Nope, wasn't aware at all and thanks the Seneschal for the help. I'll actually quote the Throne Speech and resubmit.

Tuischach, with thanks to the Immigration Minister for noticing my incorrect quoting I am resubmitting my terpelaziun with the needed correction.

Quote from: King Txec on May 11, 2025, 08:03:21 AMSince we are speaking of would-be citizens; in its previous term, my Government enacted various measures to cut down on "spam" immigration applications, and to encourage prospective citizens to make more of an effort to learn about Talossa before immigrating. It has come to our attention that, due to the increasing use of Large Language Models, our previous approach of relying on an immigration essay for this may be limited. My Government will continue to examine ways to eliminate "spam" immigration applications and to encourage all prospective citizens to learn about our nation, while removing any obstacles for those showing sincere interest in Talossanity to participate. My Government has also named a Deputy Immigration Minister, who happens to be a new citizen himself, with the specific job of welcoming prospective citizens to Wittenberg.

For the Immigration Minister @Miestră Schivă, UrN-GC besides your recent efforts to distinguish between spam applications and sincere aspirants to Talossan citizenship what other activities or programs will be the focus of the Ministry? Further, I also note the Deputy Minister does not appear to be partaking in the "welcoming of prospective citizens to Wittenberg" as mentioned in the Throne Speech, will the Deputy Minister be demonstrating activity on this matter soon? I acknowledge they could be happening privately.

I will ask the Deputy Minister @Iac Éovard Valadeir to speak to this directly

EDIT: And here it is:

"Between increased work hours, finals, and preparing for college, I'll admit that I've bitten off more than I could chew. However, rest assured I have no intentions of abandoning talossa or the responsibilities I have to it"
