Title: [Royal] Royal Regalia
Post by: King Txec on July 28, 2025, 03:51:38 PM
I'm happy to announce that I am in possession of the Royal Regalia, including the Sash of the Republic, the Crown (although it doesn't fit my head!) and the Flag of Talossa.

I will take a picture of myself wearing the regalia and upload it.

A very hasty picture. I will work on a better image later.

Looking good. Brings back memories. (From the time I was doing Weight Watchers but, as is usual to me, totally overdid it to the point where my friends got worried)

Pardon my altering the subject slightly, but -- what is the (no pun intended) chain of custody on our other regalia? I know the Seneschal has a chain of office, for example.

(The royal regalia looks good and I'm glad we have it with the King again!)

I sent @Breneir Tzaracomprada the Chain of Office in 2023, I believe that means he still has it unless it's been passed along again

I will check as I certainly haven't mailed it to anyone since you mailed it to Canada. I suspect it could be sitting in my bedroom closet.

Perhaps an update to the sash is in order to evoke the symbols of each province (and perhaps territories) rather than just that of Fiovă and other.previous entities.

If it were the sash of the Kingdom, perhaps.

Historical revisionism is unseemly.

I could see adding some kind of pin with the flags but who knows how we would even do that. Perhaps some form of pin clasp to hold the sash together would work. It came with a hair pin as the only "holder" of the sash.

If worn by a King or Queen that would be appropriate.

Personally, I think it's nice to keep the sash as it is. I am very fond of the fact that it's part of the royal regalia.

I do think it would be nice to think about adding to the regalia in some way, though.

Incidentally, my wife is a very talented sewist, if it would be helpful to have someone adjust the sash to close it up at the right angle for your measurements.

The whole symbolism of the sash as part of the Royal Regalia is to honor modern Talossa's substantial inheritance from the Republic. It should be left as-is.

Talossa's provinces are . . . well. The provinces, by and large, have been nominal. There have been brief periods of actual local activity in some of them (Fiova for a while after Reunison comes to mind), but as a group, most of the time, they're just a potential hook that isn't being used. And while they don't get created/destroyed/re-symbol-ized at a blistering pace, they do change often enough that I expect that if incorporated into a bit of national regalia, said item of regalia would spend most of its time out-of-date.

Fair enough - in light of this and other discussion it is perhaps high time for each province to discuss what they may wish to add to the regalia.  Hmm, perhaps the Holy Hand grenade of Cézembre...
