The excellent news is that Max introduced himself to the Kingdom by writing an entire email in the Talossan language. Very high quality Talossan, too.

For him to immigrate and instantly boost the stocks of Ladintschen would be most welcome. However, I would have to inform him that - although many Talossans have a strong religious faith - proselytization will have no reward here.

I would also like to inform him that original, 1979-era Talossan citizen @Xheralt Del'Encradeir also lives in West Allis, so maybe they should meet up.

Welcome @ServescDelDomnul Max

Writing an essay in high quality Talossan is a pretty good way to make an impression. How long did it take you to gain this ability?

Breneir, I used the Översteir to compose the email to the Seneschal because I care a lot about indigenous peoples and heritages (especially languages), so I figured writing in the native language of the land would be considerate. I'm also a very pious Orthodox Christian, traditionalist, nationalist, and absolute monarchist. I would like to join the C'hríost el Regeu party, but I think there's an age limit to political parties, lol. That's my main motive. I was also born within the realm and enquired about natural born citizenship. Doesn't seem like there is. :P

Hi, I don't think there is an age limit for parties in Talossa. You might also be interested to know that our former king, John, is an Orthodox Christian unless I am mistaken.

Well that's very good! And the Seneschal won't have to worry, I won't force orthodoxy on others, I'll just share it for those who wish to see it.

I'm quite impressed that you applied using Talossan. Our former king, now styled as Duke John, is a deacon in the Orthodox Church. I'm also fascinated that you were born in the Greater Talossan Area. We don't get many citizens or immigrants who can claim that!

Does John live in Milwaukee still, Your Majesty?

No, he lives in Colorado. There is another former king in the GTA, though - our founder. Robert I. He's held in mixed regard these days, though.

How come we can't forgive him? He should be respected for liberating our land from American tyranny! Whatever he did, I forgive him.

Well I think he is held in high regard in many respects, because he did found our country, invent many of our traditions, and create the language originally.

However, he also had a really hard time accepting that other people might want a say in how the country is governed and what it's like to be a citizen. He had a hard time giving up control in most regards. This extended to trying to exclude people with different opinions or attitudes, and trying to lean on our legal system and political system to get the results that he wanted. He would do stuff like research other citizens and then publicize bad things about them to try to discredit them.

Ultimately, when he came up against an organized political force that he couldn't successfully pressure or run out of the country (headed by the man who would become his successor, John), he decided to try to just convince everyone to quit and end the country, instead.

Personally, I would really love it if he would immigrate back. I don't think we're in any serious danger from him at this point. But I also understand that a lot of people don't feel the same way, and want to ensure that he accepts responsibility for his behavior, first. So I can see both sides.

I may not be up to date on theology, but surely you can only forgive those who trespass against you.

The question is not of forgiveness, anyway. It's a question - as with any new citizen - as to whether former King Robert would be capable of acting as a good citizen, obeying the law, etc. In 2019, he came in with all sorts of honeyed words and sweet phrasing, but went back to attacking and minimising his own behaviour under a small amount of querying. If his quotations in the recent article published by Milwaukee Magazine are accurate, he has not changed in the slightest.
