Azul all, the Electoral Commission has certified the rules governing the upcoming General Election. As such, registrations can now begin.
Customary preamble: with King Txec dissolving the Cosă it falls upon the Chancery to conduct elections to all 200 seats in the 62nd Cosă, to Senate seats representing Fiovă, Florenciă, Maricopa and a special election in Maritiimi-Maxhestic, and a referendum on 61RZ08. The Chancery will also facilitate elections to provincial legislatures, as is customary.
The rules governing the election period and all ballot items can be found here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/12S6jfxS4scyZ4HVOvrMe9iD-4glwTUYh7sLUwHR0fq0/edit?usp=sharing). A summary of rules relevant to deadlines and registration follows:
COSĂ PARTY REGISTRATIONIs open now and will remain open until November 13th. Registration can be done by posting in this thread, by PM to me, or by email to the Chancery with the following info:
- Full party name in the preferred national language
- Party leader(s)
- A 50-word statement of the general aims and views of the party
- A list of candidates to receive Cosă seats, or no list.
These must all be provided immediately upon registration but can be amended later up to the deadline (though do so by notifying me, not by editing a previous post because I will not magically notice!).
You may also provide:
- A link to a platform or manifesto
- An alternate party name in the other national language
-
NEW: a list of authorised agents who may manage your registration and send mailers on your behalf
- A preferred abbreviation or initialism
Registration is provisional until payment of a registration fee of 6¤40 ($10 USD). The fee must be paid to the Treasury before you are able to assign any and all seats your party may have won. Contact Burgermeister Sir
@xpb for information on payment (refer to: https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?msg=33589)

No additional information is necessary but you will need to be a citizen of the province whose seat you seek to represent.
(In an attempt to boost the number of Senate candidacies over the 1.33 average candidates per race during the last GE, I have posted reminders on all relevant provincial boards)

Sorry, two quick points of clarification about your list (but in any case the registration is valid):
- in position 6, do you mean Iac Valadeir or Jack Morrison (whom you have tagged)?
- in position 7, just checking whether you're aware that MPF has recently been added to the Progressive Alliance's Witt membergroup - did they get it wrong (maybe they meant to add Mximo) or did you?
Quote from: Sir Lüc on November 02, 2025, 02:30:49 AM- in position 6, do you mean Iac Valadeir or Jack Morrison (whom you have tagged)?
Jack Morrison, whom I have tagged. Iac Valadeir is a URL member but is currently intending to take a break from politics.

LOL, I have to assume that's a mistake.
@mpf is active on internal URL forums. I'm going to guess you're right and the PA can't tell the difference between our two prominent Québecois citizens.

Ah perfect, just checking to be sure.
@Iac , if you intend on getting a Talossan version of your name, you will have to provide me with a translated surname as well so I can update your Database entry.
(edit: and on that note I believe your surname would probably be Moritzescu)
Yes, I was just looking at a wiki article before I wrote MPF, lol -- I fixed it immediately. MPF is very firmly in the URL.

I each month hope to become more active, but life has other plans for me for now.

If you're interested, you can see each party's 50-word statement in the thread above. That just about summarizes up how each party wants to be seen. You can also look on the various party forums to see their platforms (policies) and announcements.
Another party registration for the Cosă has been validly submitted by DM and added to the recap post and the Database. A summary follows for the public record:

URL Statement on 61RZ08
Vote PËR. Right now, there is an ambiguity in the wording of the Organic Law which suggests that a new Seneschal can only be appointed at the beginning of each Cosa - which means if the office goes vacant during the term, we're in deep trouble. This amendment fixes it.
Both of the above have been entered. I have to note that, legally, the party holding seats in the previous Cosă is the one entering statements on referenda, so the above mentioned URL statement will likely have to be listed as ¡Avant!.
When will the next election after these ones be?
Quote from: Brecken Godfrey on November 07, 2025, 02:55:12 PMWhen will the next election after these ones be?
In the middle to late summer, most likely.
The parliament that will come out of this election will start on January 1st and (barring a rare early dissolution) it will last 6 or 7 months depending on whether or not a midterm recess is called. Therefore, it will likely expire at the end of either June or July, and the following election will be called for either July 15 - August 1 or August 15 - September 1.
Furthermore, if you're asking because you want to vote, you will likely get your citizenship granted to you on time to vote in this election anyway, provided you stick around:)
If you're asking because you want to stand for election, I'm afraid it might be too late, but there is a provision for seats in the lower house to be granted by a party to people from outside its list of candidates, so check back in mid-December when seats are allocated I guess?

That is of course accurate, but I didn't mention it because Brecken will most likely be ineligible for it, as he will probably become a citizen before the Election Deadline (December 1st).
Moving back to registrations, yet another party registration for the Cosă has been validly submitted, this time by email, and added to the recap post and the Database. A summary follows for the public record:

I will stand for the Senate seat for Maritiimi-Maxhestic's special election. Hopefully this won't end up hurting my party's ability to hold its seats.
My 50-word statement is:
Talossa is ready for some forward progress, with government assistance with infrastructure, real energy for outreach, protection for our assets, and a breath of fresh air with government transparency. Vote for the Progressive Alliance, as well as Davinescu for Senate in the majestic province of Maritiimi-Maxhestic.

All until this point has been recorded. Note that declarations of territorial representation have to happen after the election is over, and that 50-word statements for the Senate are not typically required and/or shown on the ballot. (However, it may be a nice idea to implement them into law in the future!)
Quote from: Sir Lüc on November 09, 2025, 04:43:23 AM50-word statements for the Senate are not typically required and/or shown on the ballot
I know! It's required under Maritiimi-Maxhestic law, though.
I am pondering if I should publicly post the mailers I receive for forwarding in addition to sending them out to opted-in citizens. Seems like the opted-out folks (not too many to be honest) are entirely locked out of what seems to be a pretty lively campaign. Also, new citizens might be missing references to prior mailers. Bit too late to implement fairly for this GE, but something to keep in mind.

We were considering reposting all our mailers on this board, but turning the formatting into BBCode felt too much like hard work

Luc, you are doing an exceptional job coordinating this election. I am also happy to hear not too many people are opted-out.
Only about 1 day 16 hours left (as of this being posted) before registrations close - everyone make sure to get in any last minute changes before the deadline, including any last minute new entrants for Cosă or Senate (midnight TST between the 13th and the 14th)
I would like to run for Senator of Maritiimi-Maxhestic.
My legally required pro forma 50-word statement is as follows:
"Did you know that most micronationalists refer to Talossa in the past tense (believing that we somehow dissolved sometime in the '00s), and that those who don't still think there's two Talossas? We should continue reaching out to other naziunetăs, and not merely to remind them of our continued existence."
Sir Marcel's registration has been added to the ballot. At this point I'm wondering if candidates would be amenable to me displaying on the ballot the provincial 50-words statements they provided, using the existing DB features? It would look like this: https://database.talossa.com/elections/november-2025-general-elections/preview/MM
@Marcel Eðo Pairescu Tafial, UrGP @Baron Alexandreu Davinescu
That'd be fine with me!
Yeah, I don't mind.
@Sir Lüc , I know we're down to the final few hours, but I am beyond delighted to request you please add the eminent
@Baroness Litz Cjantscheir, UrN-GC to the party list of the Progressive Alliance.
Yup that was well within the deadline. Will add it to the ballot shortly.
Registrations are now closed.
In what I expect will be the last post here prior to switching over to the "polling place + feedback thread" setup, I just wanted to quickly announce that most things should be in place for voting to open at any convenient time. Therefore, I think you can all expect the election to actually begin before TST noon this time, as planned (last time we had some delays and it only opened at about 2:30 PM TST).
The current number of eligible voters is 135 (but two oaths are pending and will be issued ballots if returned in time).
I lied - one more thing, so I don't have to make a new thread: the fora for COFFEE and PdR will be archived, as both have effectively deregistered.
