Title: Talossan Historical Society
Post by: Françal I. Lux on December 30, 2025, 07:27:51 PM
Is there any interest in some sort of historical /anthropological society where like-minded nerds can discuss, explore and debate the grand history of our species?

I can't participate but would love to share any taped discussions on Fora Talossa. We do have a few Talossan history videos and it would be great to add the group's discussions to that series.

We need a new history of Talossa. One written without the outrageous political bias of all the previous ones.

Previous ones? Sorry, I'm a relatively new citizen, so I haven't heard about these, but they sure sound interesting

That's actually what gave me the idea. We seem to be lacking a comprehensive account of certain parts of the kingdom's history, particularly what happened from Ben's final years to Reunision and John's coronation. I've had to scour the archives and even then it's still a little murky.

It'll be a daunting task to assemble and compile, but it's doable.

Yeah, especially when discussing Talossan history. I want to be active on multiple media fronts especially when discussing something so important.

Hopefully we can get some genuine interest here so we can move forward with the idea.

I know AD has expressed frustration that the Republic's discussion group has gone offline, but the 2004-2020 Kingdom Wittenberg is still online and just requires people to actually read through it and compile the greatest hits.

There are two major sources for our early history, both written by King Robert I:

- the 1992 History of the Kingdom of Talossa (https://wiki.talossa.com/images/e/eb/Big_History.pdf), which is a very indepth discussion of the Kingdom's first decade or so.
- Ár Päts (https://wiki.talossa.com/%C3%80r_P%C3%A4ts), a much briefer historical document which was periodically updated until 2008. That said, as Talossan politics became increasingly bitter, King Robert regularly revised it to abuse and smear his political opponents. There is a great example, which I wrote about once, where I compared the same chapter about former Seneschál Tamorán dal Navă before and after he fell out with King Robert.

That was one of the issues of Qator Itrins, if I remember my Talossan reading correctly.

That article was based on Trotsky's famous polemic The Stalin School of Falsification (https://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/1937/ssf/)
