That's right, a bored Talossan designes Talossan police car livery.

I wonder if there is a Talossan word for gendamerie, since technically speaking the Zuavs are considered the military.

There isn't one. You probably could build one based on the French blueprint (gens d'armes "people of arms" --> gendarme --> gendarmerie), which would give you something like xhints d'armeux --> *xhindarmeu --> *xhindarmerïă.
