So I was out with some friends the other day and our conversation wandered to the topic of conlangs and obviously since I was there, I had to bring up Talossa.
But trouble is I kinda had a hard time describing Talossa exactly to the uninitiated. I couldn't quite explain to them the...spirit (?) or essence of what this place is. I told them it's a micronation with its own government, culture, language and all that stuff, but I wonder how would y'all answer that question? I'm all ears.
It's a difficult question to reply to in writing, because I think my description is very much shaped by the response I get and the questions my friends ask. But for starters, I begin by describing us as a group of people having fun as a community that tries to imitate what a real country does, rather than describing the nation itself. If they see it as a hobby, first and foremost, I think it's easier to understand what we are doing.

That helps a lot! They did find it interesting that we basically simulate a real government here.
