Title: Coat of Arms Request for Antonio Montagnha
Post by: Antonio Montagnha, Ed. D. on May 02, 2022, 03:47:05 PM
What is your name? Antonio Montagnha

What is your request? If it so please the Squirrel King of Arms, I request the assistance of the College in designing and obtaining arms for myself and my lawful heirs.

What is your favourite colour? Blue

Please see below for my first draft of a proposed design. The personal meaning of the design: The green area represents the mountains of my native culture, the blue represents the clear sky of reason, the white or "silver" diagonal bar represents the philosophical quest for inner peace, and the sun in splendor represents the life-giving heat and light of knowledge.

Greetings,

Did you intend to attach a tentative emblazon? I don't see it if you did.

Curious... any critique or feedback?

I think it looks good! And is distinctive enough to set it apart from the other arms. But I'm just a lowly Fellow.  ;)
The Dean or his representative should be by to provide feedback and assign someone to your request.

Sorry, I think this got buried with other posts. I don't see anything inherently wrong with the design, so unless the Dean has issues, it should be good to go.

Looks good to me -- but out of curiosity, what's the origin of the escutcheon shape?  Nothing wrong with it, but I was just curious about the shape with a point at chief?

I just like it, thought it had a bit of contemporary flair without being modern, and was vaguely representative of the mountains of my origin.

Okay.  Another thing is that I can't see any actual blazon -- and since that's the actual achievement, not the emblazonment, I think we should review it.  Am I just missing it?

No you are not missing it. I was going to submit the below tentative blazon for the presented emblazon, but wasn't sure of the proper protocol since neither a fellow nor herald has been assigned to the request.

Tentative blazon:

Oh my goodness, you're right!  I'm sorry, I suppose I was thinking you were doing this one for yourself as an applicant to the College, but that's not true, is it?  Sorry again.

We need to assign you someone, so I'll act on behalf of the Dean -- Rouge Elephant Herald @Dr. Txec Róibeard dal Nordselvă, Esq., O.SPM, SMM , would you like to handle this applicant?  Seems like he's done the leg-work already, but he might have a question for you or need your advice.

Thank you. I do not see any issues with either the blazon or the emblazon, so unless there is an issue raised by the Dean, I'd say this achievement is good to go for the next Honors day, which appears to be the St. Aaron's Day Honours on June 22, unless the King plans to use Juneau Day Honours on May 28.
