Title: April 2020 Sénéchal Elections - Nominations Phase - Please Read
Post by: Glüc da Dhi S.H. on March 28, 2020, 05:44:10 PM
 Azul,

if you are a Cézembrean citizen you are entitled to participate and vote in the upcoming election for Sénéchal and should have just received an email about this. If you are a citizen of Cézembre and did not receive an email, please let me know!

The intent of this message is to inform you about the election, make sure the chancery has the correct email adress and call for candidates for the position to declare themselves.

Election dates.
The nomination phase of the election will start on 28 March 23:59 CET. (UTC +1) and end on 4 April 23:59 CEST (UTC+2).
Voting (if there is more than one candidate) will start on 4 April 23:59 CEST (UTC +2) and end 18 April 22:59.

How to vote.
The election will be conducted using an online automated secret ballot. After the polls open you will receive an email containing further instructions on how to vote. The election will be conducted using a preferential ballot, which means you will be asked to rank the candidates. The outcome will be determined using the IRV method. T

Standing for office.
All adult citizens (age 14 and over) of Cézembre are entitled to run in the election as a candidate. To register as a candidate, you can reply to the mail, send me a PM on wittenberg.talossa.com or publicly announce your candidacy on Witt. This can be done at any time before the end of April 4th. Candidates who have announced themselves publicly before the start of the nomination phase are considered registered unless otherwise mentioned.

Candidate representatives.
If you are running as a candidate in this election, you are allowed to appoint any citizen of Talossa to supervise the conduct of the elections. A candidate representative will have to request the Chancery for legal access to the Cézembrean electoral database. Candidate representatives are strictly bound by provincial (A8: The Sénéchal Elections Act) and national (El Lexhatx D 8.5 & 8.6) and are not allowed to communicate with anyone (including their candidate) about the email adresses of Cézembrean citizens or use these for campaign purposes. Neither are candidate representatives allowed to stand as a candidate in the elections.

The office of Sénéchal.
The duties of the Sénéchal include the conduct of votes in l'Etats, the conduct of elections and providing citizens with information about the province. Further information about the legal duties of the Sénéchal can be found in the Cézembrean administrative guide on the Cézembrean subforum on old Witt.

The Sénéchal elections act,
can be found here: talossa.proboards.com/thread/9093/etats-vote-a8

If you have any question or complaint about the elections
you can reply to the email, contact me on Witt or post in this thread.

Yours,
Glüc da Dhi, conducting officer for the April 2020 Sénéchal elections.

Well, no applications have been received. I have no idea what to do now. My suggestion is a week long nomination phase starts again as soon as anyone applies.

In the meantime either @King John or @Amada Merþedes will need to appoint a replacement senator to serve until the next GE or Cézembre will remain unrepresented in the Senate as well...

Gluc, sorry to butt in, but just FYI it looks like your problem is that there's only a handful of Cezembreans on this Witt.  As far as I can see, you have:
Seems like Ian A might be your best bet?

Litz, the current Finance Minister and Senior Justice-apparent, has not been seen in ages. She hasn't voted on the Clark and her party leader can't find her.

I'd love Ián Anglatzara to step up if he's got the time; but anyone on the list above would be good.

He last posted in February, so it's not a great option, but there's almost no possibilities.  Another option might be trying to coax Owen Edwards to register, although he's even less active.

I will throw my wig/hat into the ring (if absolutely needed) and stand for election as Sénéchal for this term if no one else declares their desire (and are eligible) to run.

My suggestion would be that the nomination phase is now opened again, and if nobody else responds within the next week you are considered elected as the only candidate in the election.

Any objections?

No additional nominations have been received. Nor has anyone raised an objection to the above proposal.

I therefore declare that @Dame Litz Cjantscheir, UrN has been elected as the next Sénéchal of Cézembre.

Many thanks to Dame Litz for her willingness to serve. I'm glad our province is in good hands!

I guess the next step now would be for Dame Litz to appoint a replacement for the vacant senate seat. This might be a difficult challenge considering current activity levels.

Over the past several months, and prior to the current health crisis, I have followed a philosophy of FFF (Facebook Free Fridays).  I would be able to serve in the capacity of Senator or any other position needed for Cézembre with the caveat that I would tend to only look in on things on Fridays (there should be a way to prompt me should an interim issue make waiting until the next Friday a problem).
