I'll just leave this here.
I'm not exactly sure what your meaning is here, but if it is to say that I am engaging in such behavior, I am actually doing the exact opposite rejecting the entire premise

Hmm, there must be another meaning to that idiom that I didn't realize.

I was not saying you missed the point, I was saying that you should not let claims like that upset you in any way. The people that make them are so obviously wrong that they don't deserve any of your brain space.

Sorry for the confusion.

Quote from: Bråneu Excelsio on February 13, 2023, 12:10:49 PMBut one of the things that always gets to me is when trans men students tell me they don't want to adopt masculine attitudes because they don't want to be assholes
As a man, I find this kind of offensive. As though the essence of masculinity resides in being an asshole. I have more thoughts, but I don't wish to derail the thread.

Quote from: Glüc da Dhi S.H. on February 12, 2023, 04:18:50 PMA lot has happened since then. Looking back this election was the calm before the storm. Bizarrely the MRPT would never participate in an election again.
I still have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I was probably the one most responsible for its breakup, which resulted in a lot of my Talossan friends at the time going into inactivity. On the other hand, I do think the MRPT was mostly out of ideas and that the manifesto was out of touch with Talossa's problems at the time. I also just really wanted to start my own party (which, looking back, didn't turn out great after two parties which both only lasted two terms).

Sure, I can do Wednesday.
#291
I could do Tuesday around 8 Eastern

Would next Saturday evening work for you?

To make matters even more confusing, even though the current Organic Law was written in 2017, it was not ratified until 2019, and technically did not come into effect until February 2020.

Have you ever heard of John Hasnas?

I do not agree with his theory that the Rule of Law turns people into slaves of the State.
It's more so that the Rule of Law, as most people conceptualize it, is impossible to establish. Statutes will always be ambiguous and are subject to be interpreted according to multiple contradictory legal theories. Judgements are always influenced by a Judge's beliefs, regardless of whether the Judge is attempting impartiality.

I hasten to clarify that there can certainly be degrees to which the Rule of Law is established or not, and that having openly political judges probably doesn't help.

Quote from: Carlüs Éovart Vilaçafat on February 07, 2023, 08:27:55 AMSeparate from the Baron's request above, is there any reason that a citizen should be discriminated against by the government? Perhaps more high minded MZs than myself can come up with a reason.

Assuming there is not, if one of the purposes of this bill is to simplify the language, then why not bring it to it's logical conclusion:

Quote10. All citizens have equal social dignity, are equal before the law and may not be discriminated against or given preference for any reason with regards to any activity within the Kingdom and its territories. All rights and responsibilities deriving from and recognized by the law shall apply to all citizens equally.

The way this reads, citizens would not be able to form associations, become employed, or perform any other action that involves dealing with some people but not others.

All of life is discrimination. Anti-discrimination laws just create "protected classes" to prohibit discrimination on certain bases lawmakers don't approve of.

Wittenberg / 57PD10: Tuischac'h Correction
February 06, 2023, 05:52:35 PM
WHEREAS It appears the method of electing the Tuischac'h was recently inadvertently deleted, and

WHEREAS Guess who is still Seneschal

THEREFORE H.21 of el Lexhatx is added, which reads:

The Cosa shall elect the Túischac'h as follows. (54RZ21) repealing both (50PD01) (52RZ3)
21.1. At any time between the Election Deadline and the following Dissolution of the Cosa, any Member of the Cosa shall be empowered to publish and open for signatures a petition nominating an eligible person for the office of Túischac'h. (54RZ21) repealing both (50PD01) (52RZ3)
21.2. Once a petition is published, any eligible Member of the Cosa shall be empowered to second the nomination by countersigning the petition in public. (54RZ21) repealing both (50PD01) (52RZ3)
21.3. Members may not second multiple nominations concurrently; if a Member wishes to support a different petition, he/she shall first publicly retract the earlier countersignature. (54RZ21) repealing both (50PD01) (52RZ3)
21.4. Following any number of petitions, presented as above and supporting the same candidate, being signed or counter-signed by members currently representing an absolute majority of seats in the Cosa, the candidate named in the petition(s) shall be declared by the Secretary of State to be the Túischac'h. (54RZ21) repealing both (50PD01) (52RZ3)
21.5. Petitions may not be carried over from one vacancy in the office of Seneschal to Túischac'h. Once a Túischac'h is elected as above, all petitions shall be made moot. (54RZ21) repealing both (50PD01) (52RZ3)

I think one of the old MRPT manifestos called for complete separation of powers once Talossa had 1,000 citizens. I'm sure we'll be getting there any day now...
