Wittenberg / [FINANCE] Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Fund
February 25, 2022, 10:40:16 PM

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MINISTER OF FINANCE OF THE KINGDOM OF TALOSSA

Fellow Talossans,

It is well and good to declare support for Ukraine in these trying times. However, being the unrecognized nation we are, we are rather limited in what concrete actions we can take to back up our words. Contributing financially is by far the most practical for those of us who are able.

I encourage donations to the Ukraine Crisis Fund of the International Red Cross, available here: https://www.icrc.org/en/donate/ukraine

Signed,
Ian Plätschisch

Could this perhaps be resolved by "grandfathering" Senators? Think of it this way: Neither Benito's nor Florencia's Senator is removed from office until their original term was up. Yes, this would mean that -- assuming the merger happens during the 57th Cosa -- for a partial Cosa term, Garibaldi would have two Senators. The "balance of power" in the Senate is not (immediately) changed. However, when elections for the 58th Cosa come up, Garibaldi would simply not elect a Senator. The Benitian senator term would end, and then the Florencian senator would be the sole senator from the new province, and Garibaldi would take the place of Florencia in the Senate election cycle.
This would have the unfortunate consequence of leaving formerly Benitian voters represented by a Senator they didn't elect. Maybe the short time period makes that concern not very important though.

The LCC never supported "eliminating the Monarchy." I know you think that subjecting the Monarch to a vote of approval every so often makes it not a Monarchy, but pretending like that's the only way to define it, or even the most common way, is confusing at best (and untruthful at worst).

So Ian still has it?
Yep, sorry about that. There have been plans to ship it but we could never get it coordinated

Ián Plätschisch has a snazzy green shirt/red tie combo. Or is it the other way around?
My official portrait from back when I was Seneschal in early 2019:

Sorry I can't make it smaller.

Starting this month (February 2022), in an effort, that I hope will restart Talossan's voluntarily contributing money to the Kingdom, I will be sending $10 USD ($120 USD per year) to the Burgermeister of Inland Revenue on a monthly basis. I have been a Talossan citizen for nearly 15 years and it feels like the time is right for this.
At that level of contribution, you can be the patron of my sandwich of the month club.

BTW, can someone explain why the TNC leader is trying to get Free Democrat members to "jump ship" and join his party list?

No, Miestra. No one will play that game. Explain your record of the past six months.
To be fair, you also have a bit of explaining to do. I'm very happy to see you back, don't get me wrong, but let's not forget how this term started. You founded a party that promised to support the Monarchy reform bill, then joined the Government promising to contribute to it, then immediately quit the Government and did very little in Talossa except vote against the bill you promised to support.

If you are serious about contesting this election, one would think you would need to give some sort of account of all that.

I tried something like this on the old forum and it worked reasonably well.

Maritiimi-Maxhestic / We need an M3
February 12, 2022, 05:42:45 PM
Is anyone currently the M3? If so, we will need them to certify to the Assembly that they are ready to conduct the Senate election. If not, we either need to find one or tell the Chancery that it needs to conduct the election for us.

I intend to stand for reelection.

I just remembered that you can get a count of everyone who is granted citizenship by looking in the database. If you want to see who applied, just look at the list of applications. I generally tend to avoid issuing bureaucratic reports when doing so would more hassle than it's worth. This seems to be a really important issue for you, but I don't understand what you think it would accomplish. Everything is right there already.

The cabinet is currently discussing ad campaigns. According to my research, we would pay somewhere in the ballpark of $1-$2 per click, which seems pretty pricey in my personal opinion.
