Quote from: Carlüs Éovart Vilaçafat on September 30, 2024, 10:11:19 AMI have done a lot of brainstorming on this and I have come up with the following top 3, more or less in order or preference:

  • Green Town: The setting of Something Wicked This Way Comes. The first Bradbury novel I ever read. Still one of my favorites and a formative one from my youth.
  • Lakewood: The Lakewood Theatre in Dallas, TX (I don't think it's there anymore) was a formative place in my young adulthood where I learned a love of performance and amateur musical theater.
  • Joyland: The titular setting of the Stephen King novel. Another one of my favorites, and a coming of age story that really hits home for me. I read it every year.

Any of those sound awesome. The Green Town Pursuivant or The Lakewood Pursuivant or The Joyland Pursuivant all have nice rings to them.

Celebration of Democracy Day

On this day, 43 years ago, Talosssa celebrated it's first ever democratic election.

Elections are a cornerstone of the kingdom, and we are even now preparing a referendum election to determine the future of Talossa once again. On this day, I urge all Talossans to enjoy something that is uniquely Talossan as we celebrate this momentous anniversary.

I for one will be stopping by Taco Bell for a small snack sometime today while holding some coffee in my favorite traveling mug!

On behalf of King John, and on behalf of a grateful nation, we celebrate this day and look forward to the future of Talossa.

Quote from: Sir Txec dal Nordselvă, UrB on September 26, 2024, 08:08:11 AMWhenever HM King John abdicates, and presuming my confirmation passes the referendum, I will become King immediately. The coronation ceremony is just the official celebration.

To my understanding, the accession takes place literally upon the requisite authority certifying the referendum result, presumably on Wittenberg.

HM has not abdicated as of yet, so this would not be the case. Upon certification of the referendum, I would become the Heir Presumptive, and not the king.

Out of interest, I went and found my essay from when I immigrated (12 years ago on Monday, actually). Here is what I wrote:

QuoteI am fascinated by the concept of a micro nation. I read a lot about Talossa before I requested to immigrate. I am tired of the large "macro" nations and their petty bickering and refusal to honor even the most basic human rights without requiring something in return. I believe Talossa and it's philosophy fits more into my world view. Plus, I am a big fan of all things royal so having a king as my ruler is an added benefit!

Who knew how prescient that last sentence would turn out to be!

It is my pleasure to open call for bills of the October 2024 Clark.

Eventually, the clark can be viewed in real time here:

www.talossa.ca/files/cosa_vote_result.php?cosa=60&clark=3 (for the votes)

and here:

www.talossa.ca/files/clark.php?cosa=60&clark=3 (for the bills )

It is NOT too late to submit bills, of course, as you have OFFICIALLY until the morning of the 30th of this month, provided your bills have been in the Hopper before end of business day the 15th, of course. I will make the Clark on October 1st's morning and bills submitted up to a few hours before that will probably also be taken.

PLEASE note that in order to support a bill, you need to:

1 ) Be a Senator, the Secretary of State or the King
or
2 ) Have been nominated as a Cosa Member for the upcoming Clark BEFORE the 15th,

To vote on the Clark, you will once again have 2 options:

1 ) You will be able to vote in the Clark thread (which will be created later on the 1st of October), as usual. I will enter your votes in the DB.

2 ) You will be able to vote directly in the database, using your usernumber and DB password (which you can retrieve at: www.talossa.ca/files/login.php using the PSC of the election) or by login via Facebook (which retrieve manual activation on my part).

Azul,

It is time, in my opinion as the Squirrel Viceroy of Arms, that we should recognize one of our own with an elevation in rank. @Carlüs Éovart Vilaçafat has served for quite some time as The Fulbright Fellow. I hope the Dean and others in the Coletx will agree with me that is is time to promote Carlus to the rank of Pursuivant. With that, Carlus, a Pursuivant is able to choose his title. Ordinarily it is based on a geographical location. So for example, I was The Kingsbridge Pursuivant (and I always signed my posts as -Kingsbridge). I chose my title based on a fictional location, but one that had great meaning to me. Please take some time and think about what title you would like and let's have a discussion!

I'd love to include your promotion in my upcoming Accession Honours so you have a little time on this. Congrats!

As an educator of 20+ years, nothing makes me more sad than seeing someone sell him or herself short. Trichard, I find you to be adept and fully capable. Please always remember that! You are so much more than you give yourself credit for.

As part of the potential upcoming Accession, I have been working on a draft of Accession Honours that I will first be presenting for advice to my incoming Privy Council and also with the incumbent government. I have a few ideas about things going forward but I don't wish to act unilaterally so will be seeking advice.

On another note, I do think it is perhaps time to elevate the The Fulbright Fellow to the rank of Pursuivant. I'll have a chat with the Dean and The Fulbright Fellow in another thread.

I have no strong opinions either way.
