Whereas at least one Talossan is related  to a man who walked the 54 miles from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama on crutches (he only had one leg) with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on March 21, 1965.

5.2.4. September 28: Democracy Day

Quote from: Ian Plätschisch on July 19, 2023, 05:53:17 PMWhile I appreciate what this bill is trying to accomplish, I wonder if we could name the day after someone with a stronger connection to Talossa.

Have any Talossans actually marched with Dr. King?

Just a heads-up, your bill can now be submitted to the CRL thread.

I thought it was tomorrow, thanks for the heads up

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on June 08, 2023, 06:59:27 AM@Tric'hard Lenxheir , @Ian Plätschisch , should we give this a go this term?  There's still enough time, I think, for us to make any needed revisions to our respective constitutions and put this up for provincial referenda.

I would support it.

Kinda hard to say for English speakers, especially "cnec'hts". The C is fully pronounced.

Okay thank you!

El Glheþ Talossan / I need another translation
May 22, 2023, 08:14:52 PM
I looked it up on l'oversteir and found translations for the individual words but I am not sure how it would go together for proper grammar. I would like Talossan National Congress Knights translated please. I found Talossan translates to Talossan, National translates to Naziunal, Congress translates to Congreßeu and Knights translates to els cnec'hts. My best guess is Congreßeu Naziunal de Talossan els Cnec'hts

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on May 17, 2023, 10:49:22 PMWhereas, it is possible, under the current attendance rules, for an MC or Senator to miss half of each term's Clarks and remain a member in good standing, and

Whereas, it is easy to become an MC or Senator but it should not be easy to remain an MC or Senator if one does not show up, and

Whereas, membership in our national legislature should be a privilege that commands enough respect that those who do not show up face stricter consequences.

Therefore, be it enacted, that Organic Law Article IV, Section 5 which currently reads as:

QuoteEach person holding one or more seats is a representative known as a "Member of the Cosa" (MC). MCs may not be removed from office except by a two-thirds vote by the Cosa and approval by the King. An MC vacates his seats if he fails to vote on two consecutive Clarks, or if he resigns from office or dies. The seats of any MC who is removed or vacates shall be reassigned according to Section 4, above.

Is amended to read as:

QuoteEach person holding one or more seats is a representative known as a "Member of the Cosa" (MC). MCs may not be removed from office except by a two-thirds vote by the Cosa and approval by the King. An MC vacates his seats if he fails to vote on two consecutive Clarks, three Clarks non-consecutively, or if he resigns from office or dies. The seats of any MC who is removed or vacates shall be reassigned according to Section 4, above.

And be it further enacted that Organic Law Article III, Section 5 which currently reads as:

QuoteA Senator vacates their seat if, not being disqualified from voting by law, they do not vote on two consecutive Clarks; or if they resign from office, lose their citizenship or die.

Is amended to read as:

QuoteA Senator vacates their seat if, not being disqualified from voting by law, they do not vote on two consecutive Clarks, three Clarks non-consecutively or if they resign from office, lose their citizenship or die.

Quote from: Tric'hard Lenxheir on May 07, 2023, 07:16:34 PMFunny thing is the words you guys are using aren't even what is on L'Oversteir. On there "dead" is either "moart" or "mortescu" and "last" is "lastar" "dirnalaiset" or "lasteu" you did use "dirnalaiset" for last

You have to be careful when translating fixed expressions. Sometimes it works, but more often than not (like with "dead last") it doesn't, and you have to use something else. That's why we didn't translate the "dead" part literally.

Languages have always been difficult for me. Even after 13 years of grammar in american schools I still have trouble with English LOL
