Here's one.

Nota bene: This requires a lot more editing, but it's certainly been a delight to read this short story about our very own Talossa.

I really liked ChatGPT's acute remark here: "With Talossans, the line between politics and romance is... porous."

Quote from: þerxh Sant-Enogat on April 20, 2025, 11:24:43 AMTitle: "The Cézembre Conundrum"

Outline:
    1.    Introduction:
    •    The story begins with the annual Talossan cultural festival on the island of Cézembre, a province of the Kingdom of Talossa .
    •    Dignitaries, citizens, and guests gather to celebrate Talossan heritage, language, and traditions.
    2.    The Crime:
    •    During the festivities, a renowned linguist and member of the Comità per l'Útzil del Glheþ (CÚG), responsible for overseeing the Talossan language , is found dead under mysterious circumstances.
    •    The death appears accidental at first but soon reveals signs of foul play.
    3.    Investigation:
    •    The Cort Pü Inalt, Talossa's highest judicial body , appoints an investigator to uncover the truth.
    •    Suspects include political rivals, fellow linguists, and festival attendees.
    4.    Unraveling Secrets:
    •    Clues point to disputes over recent changes in the Talossan language and political tensions within the Ziu (Parliament) .
    •    The investigator uncovers hidden relationships, secret meetings, and motives rooted in both personal and national interests.
    5.    The Revelation:
    •    In classic Christie fashion, the investigator gathers all suspects and reveals the murderer, whose motive intertwines with Talossa's rich cultural and political tapestry.

Well, color me INTRIGUED.

Anyway, Statement from the Incoming Government to be expected at the First Clark or so.

I figured I'd make my proclamations and Letters Patent look nice!

I like that style very much. I only wish there was text version of it accompanying the letters, so that those of us with fatigued eyes can read it easier. With that font, I can read one or two lines before giving up.

Well, I should be able to pick it up. I've never worked with Django but have done some work with other frameworks in Python.

I can confirm mine and Bråneu's have been delivered. We have yet to receive them in Mexico, but they are in safe hands.

GV shared the sad news earlier this year:

Quote from: GV on January 13, 2024, 07:46:03 AMhttps://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/legacyremembers/florence-yarney-obituary?id=35192717

Florence was a giant of Talossan history, serving as king from 1987-1988 when she abdicated in favor of Ben Madison, who was king again until August 2005.

She actually died in 2022, but when I got a death-anniversary reminder for John Eiffler, I thought to see if anyone else had passed away.  The one I could find is Florence, and the photo in the above obituary matches that I remember from seeing her in Ben's Talossan videos at Ben's coronation in 1988.

From that video and from all accounts, she seemed exactly as the obituary says she was: possessed of a keen and flamboyant style of teaching and much-beloved by all who knew her.

RIP, Florence.  I wish all of us in Talossa (including I) could have known you.

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on October 22, 2024, 01:53:07 PMGenerally speaking, I think that people only have ever used Ian I when they were not actually aware of the conventions that are typical. I think we should probably stick with the traditional use, where you would just be King Txec.

I like more your response from here:

it's both, but the latter is more formal. He's the first King John! He would be the third King Robert, if that were his name, or the second King Florence.

I like that duality of in-/formality.

Here's a good reference on how to create your GPG key on Mac:
https://gpgtools.tenderapp.com/kb/how-to/first-steps-where-do-i-start-where-do-i-begin-setup-gpgtools-create-a-new-key-your-first-encrypted-email

Don't mind the email part, that's not important. What matters here is that you have one GPG key so that you can decrypt files.

Many thanks! - GV, Royal Archivist

We have daily backups (4 per day, in fact) of Witt and the Wiki. They are publicly available but encrypted. If you wish to have access to them please share you public GPG key and I'll add you.

(Pardon the intrusion.)

Quote from: Baron Alexandreu Davinescu on August 26, 2024, 02:48:07 PM[...] Armorial precedent should be observed.  The new king should choose the name of his house [...]

I, for one, would love to have the unveiling of the House as a surprise until the last minute. That'll give the press something to talk about!

While the committee still exists, there's been no activity in it as of recently.

As an update from my side, I could not attend the event I planned to on the 20th of February due to my wife forgetting I had something scheduled that day and leaving until very late, thus leaving me with no car. I love her still. Fortunately, a friend and neighbor offered to get me up to speed on that, so that's still a promising option.

In somewhat unrelated news, I have been refining the citizens directory and a related mailing solution, which would constitute the foundation for this.
