Wittenberg / Random Vexillological Interest
July 13, 2026, 09:04:23 PM
I had first planned to post this in the Royal Academy of Vexillology thread but it has not had any posts since 2024.

The unfortunate and sudden passing of Sam Neill revived a really interesting and simple contribution he made to the Australian Flag Debate. While starring in the 1997 horror film (Event Horizon), which is a great movie, Neill asked for a futuristic representation (2047) of Australia's flag to show the Australian Aboriginal flag in the canton rather than the Union Jack.

Here is what it looked like and I think it is quite lovely:

@Mic'haglh Autófil, O.Be I believe you are the provost of the RAV, have you seen this flag before?

Green Party / Resignation as Green Party leader
July 08, 2026, 08:39:58 PM
Earlier today, I informed party members within the party's Discord that I am resigning as leader of the Green Party effective once a new leader is selected. In a separate motion, I have invited party members to determine interest in a new leader. I will not be standing in that contest, nor will I make any endorsements or effort to influence the race, and I will be leaving the party at the end of this Cosa.

It has been a genuine honor to serve as your leader and I am deeply grateful for your loyalty during admittedly difficult times. But it is now time for the party to chart a new path forward.

Once a new leader is elected I will request that the moderator settings be updated.

Mr. Speaker, as promised I am following up with an enquiry to the Culture Minister @Françal I. Lux
The follow-up concerns his reply from last month and is a part of an ongoing line of enquiry starting in May:

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on May 04, 2026, 10:58:48 PMMr. Speaker,

This enquiry is for the Culture/Finance Minister.

On April 14, Minister @Françal I. Lux informed the nation of his return to service. Minister, if you could please advise the Ziu on your plans for the Culture and Finance portfolios now that you are back.
Thank you for the question.

Mr. Speaker, my main priority for the next month is resuming my previous plans for the Culture Ministry. With the help of S:reu Malt and under the supervision of our Ladîntsch Naziunál, the Ministry of Culture will be sponsoring a translation project, first to update the Talossan version of the Organic Law, and, if all goes well, the gradual translation of the nation's statutes.

Minister, what updates are there to the translation project currently underway with MZ Malt and the Ladîntsch Naziunál?
Thank you for the question,

Mr. Speaker we have unfortunately encountered delays due to personal reasons, but I haven't lost hope and will continue to push for it to at least begin before the end of this month.

Minister, with hope that the aforementioned personal matters have improved for all persons involved, what progress might the Ministry be able to report on the Organic Law translation project?

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / A National Ale?
July 03, 2026, 10:02:08 PM
The conversation in Discord got me thinking. Some mentioned an interest in homebrewing and I am wondering if there has ever been consideration of creating a recipe for a "national beer?" It would certainly be an interesting cultural project where people could on their own reproduce it perhaps to celebrate important national holidays.

With the caveat that not all Talossans are drinkers it might be an interesting venture.

Green Party / Folks, you're getting desperate
July 02, 2026, 08:16:49 AM
Quote from: Miestră Schivă, UrN-GC on July 02, 2026, 04:28:57 AMThe Union of Free Reformists Cosă and Senäts delegations will deliver a firm and unanimous CONTRA to this impertinent middle finger to public opinion. This is the kind of behaviour that - should the sex pest unanimously condemned by the Ziu be re-elected - will lead to a swift expulsion by a rightfully-disgusted Cosa supermajority."

Folks, no need to link to the censure resolution. I've helpfully added it to my signature for easy access along with my public apology, which was made just before you decided to go ahead and Clark the censure resolution.

I will be running for the Cosa in the next GE so you will want to prepare your arguments as to why a resolution supporting the Me Too Movement and also linking to your censure resolution on my own allegations is wrong and deserving of expulsion. Especially since the latter was added after consultations in the Hopper.

El Funal/The Hopper / The Older Age Citizenship Act
June 24, 2026, 04:52:07 PM
NOTE: I know this received a cold welcome when there was a discussion in the Immigration threads. I do, however, think the idea (raising the age of citizenship) is worthy of a vote in the next Cosa.

Whereases to be determined

Therefore, be it resolved, that El Lexhatx Section E.1 which currently reads as:

QuoteProspective immigrants who have at least attained the age of fourteen (14) years shall be directed to the Minister of Immigration. The Minister of Immigration shall act on every such request received by that office, without discriminating on the basis of age, political preference, religion, or other personal information.

is amended to read as follows:

QuoteProspective immigrants who have at least attained the age of eighteen (18) years shall be directed to the Minister of Immigration. The Minister of Immigration shall act on every such request received by that office, without discriminating on the basis of age, political preference, religion, or other personal information.

No.

Abstaining is by its very nature non-participation.

The fact that it establishes that the voter was present does not change that.

No. If Abstention means participation for the purpose of two-strike, then it necessarily means participation in the referendum.

Not sorry, but your org law failed. And Miestra tried to hide it, like she took a few months to report CCX. After all, she sat on that since February.

This was an unfair accusation from V. I am researching the events for an Abbavilla Digest special.

Whereas, the Me Too Movement International (https://metoomvmt.org/) has since 2006 provided vital support, resources, and advocacy for survivors of sexual harassment and sexual violence, giving voice to millions who have suffered harm and working to hold perpetrators accountable across institutions and industries, and

Whereas, Talossa as a community has affirmed its commitment to the dignity and safety of all persons and to the cultivation of a culture free from harassment, abuse, and intimidation, and

Whereas, Talossa has the solemn responsibility to take the problem of sexual harassment and abuse seriously with three former leaders convicted of such heinous crimes as well as another who has been censured by the Ziu amid accusations of sexual harassment, and

Whereas, material support for organizations that serve survivors is among the most concrete and meaningful expressions of true commitment to survivor-centered values, moving beyond words and resolutions to tangible action in the world, and

Whereas, the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance and International Development (BHAID) exists precisely to channel Talossan resources toward causes that reflect our values as a community and our obligations as citizens of the world, and

Whereas, a contribution of ($50 USD) from the BHAID to the Me Too Movement would represent a modest but meaningful gesture of solidarity with survivors and a public affirmation of Talossa's commitment to a culture of accountability and care.

Therefore be it the Sense of the Ziu that the BHAID is hereby encouraged to make a donation of ($50 USD) to the Me Too Movement in support of its work on behalf of survivors of sexual harassment and sexual violence.

The Ziu further reaffirms that this donation is made in recognition of Talossa's own history and in the spirit of our community's ongoing obligation to not merely condemn allegations of harassment in our own ranks, but to support those working to address it in the wider world.

Mr. Speaker,

The Royal Zouaves fall under your purview, unless I am mistaken, and it has been a subject of failed reform efforts recently. What current plans, if any, are there for promotions or in any other areas for the Royal Zouaves?

Mr. Speaker,

I enquired in an unofficial capacity after noticing a two month delay between the announcement of plans to restart the TalossAssistant program by the Government. Seeing no progress, this question is restated for the Immigration Minister:

QuoteTwo months ago the Government announced plans to restart the TalossAssistant program. In that time it appointed a new citizen and party member to oversee deadlines but there has been no noticeable activity on the TalossAssistant program. There are several new Immigration applicants awaiting a potential Assistant. When will the Government officially launch the new TalossAssistant program?

It is my pleasure to announce the honoree for the 4th El Pretz Per Tomas Poetry Prize. But first please allow me to thank @owenedwards the originator of this prize.

Tric'hard Lenxheir is the winner of the 4th El Pretz Per Tomas Prize for his poem, I Dream.
This was an unusual prize year as all entrants posted publicly, there were just four entrants, and our winner recently left the Kingdom. S:reu Lenxheir was chosen before the latter event and it is the sincere wish of the Prize team that he will eventually return. The Prize Team and Fora Talossa will still plan for a special prize video presentation and transmitting the award money should we be able to make contact with Tric'hard.

OFFICIAL CITATION: Tric'hard Lenxheir (I Dream)
Quote"I Dream" is a vivid depiction of the fragility of consciousness, where the boundary between dream and waking life dissolves into a sequence of haunting impressions. Despite the author's description of this piece as "jarbled," the Prize Team identifies a thorough and disciplined minimalism, S:reu Lenxheir has managed to craft a rhythm of compression and release, each quatrain unfolding like a flicker of brief, intense, and unresolved thought.

The poem's language is deliberately spare, yet it carries significant emotional weight. Phrases such as "Shadows melt / Dream burns" and "Mind abused" juxtapose the fleeting with the visceral, creating a tension between abstraction and embodiment. This interplay allows the poem to move fluidly between inner mental states and external natural imagery, from "Broken trees" to "Roar of thunder," suggesting a world in which environment and emotion mirror one another.

Structurally, the poem resists narrative cohesion in favor of fragmentation. Its clipped lines and shifting images evoke the disjointed logic of dreams, while also reflecting states of anxiety, exhaustion, and existential unease. The recurrence of elemental forces such as darkness, storm, and wind serves as a unifying motif, reinforcing the sense of an individual caught within cycles beyond their control.

What distinguishes "I Dream" is its refusal of resolution. The closing lines, "Soon to sleep / Calm the hunger," do not offer comfort so much as surrender, implying that rest itself may be another form of escape rather than restoration. In this way, the poem lingers in ambiguity, inviting the reader to confront the uneasy continuity between dreaming, suffering, and waking life. For its disciplined brevity, evocative imagery, and compelling portrayal of inner turbulence, "I Dream" stands as a striking exploration of the mind's darker currents.

"I Dream"

I dream
The world turns
Shadows melt
Dream burns

Passion sated
Fear from hate
Passion lost
Fickle fate

Tangled limbs
Broken trees
Sun fades
Darkness sees

Quiet, fearful
Music flares
Dreams return
No one cares

Jumbled thoughts
Lost, confused
Body weak
Mind abused

Rain, lightning
Roar of thunder
Blowing wind
Life a blunder

Day is gone
Dream no longer
Soon to sleep
Calm the hunger

A final thanks to all poets who entered the contest for sharing their artistry with the Kingdom.

I am writing this release as party leader but want any party member to feel free to add to this message or to express needed nuance or context.

As a Talossan political leader, as a Talossan, as a world citizen it is now inconceivable that the Trump Administration can last through its full term. In just 15-16 months he has led one of the world's most powerful countries into an abrupt but clear dismantling of a global order that has prevented calamity and allowed for some semblance of cooperation among nations. In just the past month we have seen a war of choice that is leading to economic harm that was not the choice of millions around the world.

There is a need for nations to give thought and then take action to build a new framework for global cooperation without America at the center. A Trump-led US appears no longer willing or capable of providing necessary leadership so that need is urgent. Climate change, terrorism, a just and inclusive global economy, artificial intellgience...these issues will not wait for this leadership vacuum to be filled.

As an American-Talossan, I feel similarly to when the American housing crisis led to rippled throughout the world and led to the Great Recession. Our policy failures have outsized impacts and our body politic does not seem up to addressing these failures. So it is time for the world to inoculate itself from America.

Please note contributions from non-party members will be policed strictly.

Party members, I will broach this topic in our Discord as well but wanted to create this public space for thinking ahead of the next election.

What would be your suggestions for improving citizen experience in the Kingdom? I am calling these KIN or Kingdom Improvement Notes. Please make your suggestions and we can create consensus around those we submit to the electorate.

Here are some of mine:

IMMIGRATION:
-Renew the TalossAssistant program

CULTURE:
-Enact programs that develop Talossan culture beyond the language and politics.
-Restore BEER (inspiration from the recent Artemis program)

FINANCE:
-Include information from InfoTeca concerning spending in La C'hronica.

I want to thank the URL Secretary @Mic'haglh Autófil, O.Be for placing the following quote in his profile. It serves as a good response to his own speech closing the URL convention:

Quote"Democracy is not a tearing down; it is a building up. ... It does not destroy; it fulfills. It is the consummation of all theories of government, the spirit of which all the nations of the earth must yield. It is the great constructive course of the ages." - Calvin Coolidge

I agree that Democracy is building up not tearing down. I agree that it seeks to fulfill a nation not destroy its constituents. I hope that the URL will join the Greens in pursuing policies and behavior that build rather than tear down. Boycotts do not build, divisive speeches do not build and that appears to be what the URL has decided to offer the people of Talossa. I look forward to speaking to Talossans about the positive policies and message that builds on our Talossanity rather than seeking to bully, dominate, and tear down.

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on March 15, 2024, 09:51:59 PMGuest speech to the FreeDems convention:

Azul to you as proud co-citizens of our Kingdom. Let me be clear in saying I know you love our nation as much as I do. So, I first want to thank you for making space for someone with whom you have had rancorous disagreements and may still not trust to speak. And trust, the rebuilding of it, in a fashion that endures is the goal of this speech. I aim simply to tell you where I am coming from and hope that an increase in understanding will lead to a higher likelihood of trust even if there is no agreement. I must, however, preface my words by saying I speak as a private citizen not as Distain nor as a member of the Talossan National Congress.

I support the immediate end of the reign of King John. The legacy of his service to Talossa is already beyond doubt. But the status quo threatens the institutional maintenance of the monarchy. I am a fundamentally pragmatic person so if forced to choose between the continuance of a reticent and distant monarch and a republic with an active head of state then I will choose a republic. It is not only people who serve in institutions but it is also institutions existing in service to the people. The goal is an active head of state whose close relationship with the citizenry helps to nurture and strengthen the necessary bonds between Talossans.

In the recent past, I took a step back from this as I wanted to give our current monarch one final chance to increase activity and nurture the necessary bonds between a head of state and their people. I also lost trust in my partners engaged in that effort. But I have closely observed the King's activity levels since then and as a supporter of the institution it is necessary to ensure its continuance by placing someone on the throne with the interest and abilities to perform the duties. My close observation of the current Secretary of State, Sir Txec dal Nordselva, is what convinced me to propose his elevation to the throne. This is not a machiavellian maneuver. This is an attempt to place someone who is competent and capable of being a unifying and active symbolic representative for the nation.

During the next term of the Cosa, no matter who is in Government, I will personally support efforts to resolve this enduring issue. Either through a potential revisiting of the previous legislation, through the consideration of my own proposal, or in cooperation with a broad-based convention focusing on this issue. I acknowledge it will be difficult for some to trust these words based on what has happened in the recent past but I hope this public statement will allow cross-partisan progress. And that this basic exercise in multiparty problem-solving can be the foundation of good faith lowering of temperatures and trust-building.

Response in conference from Breneir Tzaracomprada to Miestra Schiva:

Quote from: Breneir Tzaracomprada on March 23, 2024, 09:28:52 AMThis is a great speech full of the usual miestraisms. Oh, and I've responded to your private message concerning discussions around monarchy reform. I've even re-proposed Ian's old Compromise on the Compromise for internal discussion. I do think we have the potential for action right now but my party mates need to weigh in.

Over the next few weeks we will see whether you are interested in making progress on this issue. In my speech I made clear that you have a partner on the issue moving forward. The consequences of your inability or unwillingness to engage that partner are yours and your party's to face.

To repeat a piece of your speech: "If there is a possibility that the Historic Compromise might be revived and get the requisite majority – then let's do it, right now."

Yeah...let's do that. :) If you can get over the trust issues.

My fellow Talossans, I wanted to bring attention to the following speech to the old Free Democrats conference just over two years ago (March 15, 2024). In that speech I became the first monarchist to call for the end of King John's reign as an important step in resolving a longstanding issue. This speech started developments that would finally bring on the needed transition on the throne from John to Txec. It is a point of personal pride as a Talossan.

We have another longstanding issue needing resolution now. We need to build a national culture that is not based on the politics of tearing people down, of demonization and monstering, and of the interests only of those who revel in politics itself. The Green Party will continue to perservere in its efforts to build a national culture that includes politics but is more than just politics. More than joint statements, boycotts, and charts. Because a culture that needs a jolt of feverish political campaigning every six months is not one that is healthy. If you agree then we welcome your support.

The speech above and the results that follow demonstrate the potential within all Talossans to solve real problems beyond the contrivances of the grievance obsessed. Let's demonstrate that potential now.

Whereas, Talossa is a nation founded on principles whose citizens are committed to equality under the rule of law, and

Whereas, swearing allegiance to a government appears to conflict with a citizen's Organic right to free expression; and

Whereas, committing to upholding the nation's constitution (Organic Law) is more in line with the ideals of a free and open people, and

Whereas, another version of this bill appears to be in limbo.

Therefore, be it resolved by the Ziu of the Kingdom of Talossa that Title E, Section 9 of El Lexhatx, which currently reads:
Quote9. The following text shall be known as The Oath of Talossan Citizenship:
From this day forward, I pledge my loyalty, allegiance, and fidelity to the Kingdom of Talossa and to His Majesty's government. I solemnly affirm that I will support and uphold the Organic Law of the Kingdom of Talossa, defend the realm against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, faithfully observe its laws, respect the rights and freedoms of all my fellow citizens, fulfill all my duties and obligations as a citizen of the Kingdom of Talossa, and humbly appreciate the benefits granted unto me by my King, most especially when those benefits take the form of Talossan currency.

shall be replaced in full with:

Green Party / Remembering Jurgen Habermas
March 14, 2026, 02:32:29 PM
On the passing of philosopher Jurgen Habermas the Green Party remembers the champion of democracy and human emancipation with the following quote:

Quote"If any trace of utopianism remains in me, it lies solely in the belief that democracy—and public debate in its optimal forms—has the capacity to cut the Gordian knot of problems that would otherwise be practically insoluble."
