seems, i missed a serious fun here. and i still do not understand, what is the problem about. is king-for-life of any importance to the stability and life of talossa? honestly, no. is king-for-life of any importance to fundaments of talossa? again, no. king-for-life is just one possibility of many, and talossans have democratically chosen some other issue. or, did not they, did i get smth wrong?

i can imagine people living in a representative democracy to be attracted to this king-thing, allusively a symbol of stability and duration, but it is just a façade, which may hold no content but rotten one. any permanent political position without the possibility to enforce to account for actions is dangerous.

we have now in czechia the pseudo-king serving as a president, who thinks that he is special and so so important, that he ignores not only the call of reason but also laws of the country (and our constitution was written by naïve guys who never assumed this may happen one day. does it ring a bell to you, fellow talossans?). luckily, we'll get rid of him in two years in the new elections, cos he is no real king. and that's a good thing.

renewable kingship is for me enough peculiarly talossan too, plus, it satisfies my sense for fair play.

if interested, i have in my personal archive some stuff from republic times.

i have all three of my small side projects & contributions archived (el verbånd talossán dal ficziun siensiâ & whisky; cxhn. inâ és cxhn. minâ - comicseu de talossa d'iens vidançeu suôrschár; el gac'hláivasqåb ¡büvetz-noi és cîntetz-noi!) + plus some stuff from my ministerial times (i was like two times cultmin in republic) - some immigration posters, one historical proclamation and suchs. i was also the peculiarist (NPW) who advocated non-derivativist looks at republic of talossa (movamáintsch për l'estat da talossa).

I fail to understand why the 'Republicans' had to rejoin the Kingdom.

The only reason that comes to mind - to destroy the social fabric of the nation and claim it for themselves; and go down in history as the Liberatadors ;)

yes, yes, talossan deep-state conspiracy it is! i knew it!  ;D ;D

fellow ylluminati/republican sis&bros STOP let us lyberate taloosa from the yoke of social fabric of the nation STOP implement instead an antisocial web of cosmopolitanism STOP do not forget to attend the next black mass STOP roasted children will be served with mashed potatoes and tomato salad STOP ::)

it is not healthy. we should stop assuming.

I suppose that those who were not satisfied with (whatever titled) 7 year term executive leader after 3 months or 3 years would not have to wait and could act to remove, impeach, etc.  But is that not already the case now?

there is a different angle to look at it. see, there is a slight difference in when selected for the job for life and for a defined period, people behave differently. shorter terms may lead to populism, but generally inspire activity cos of re-evaluation. lifetime terms should guarantee stability but easily lead to negligence.

generally, it seems to me, that you are over-interpreting miesta's statements. it is not the king-ship itself, it is really the current king who is a problem. you need like the changes which are happening, but at least we could respect the will of the people; talossa is not an authoritative regime anymore. i know how it feels when they take away your toys, but as grown-ups, we have to manage our feelings. i had my deep reservations when the republic was deciding if to re-unite with the kingdom, as i said, i am by no mean a monarchist, but i listened and understood the reasons behind it and then agreed on it.

i am by no means conservative, and definitely not that type of spooked conservative who jumps up-and-down when the date on the calendar moves on. what even would be a problem if talossa turns republic? like someone is going to lose hir aristocratic sandbox, no more fancy and empty titles, no dandy CoA-s? or republic would be so unattractive to those new prospective citizens who today stay in lines before the gates of talossa and then when let in, they swirl in social and cultural activity?
This is pretty dismissive of aspects of the Monarchy that some people like a lot. Creating "vivid cultural life" is really hard, and I wouldn't scoff at anything that helps.

Quotetalossa rather needs vivid cultural life than vain symbols. or we're going to turn into a dusty museum. don't get me wrong, i love museums, but just as deposits of well-organised artifacts, not a place to live.
People have been saying this for years, but I don't see how getting rid of the Monarchy, or putting its powers under some other body, would help at all. The problem you are diagnosing is not the fault of the Monarchy; rather, of general apathy.

i am not saying we should abolish monarchy to save talossa from its slow cultural decay, i am just asking, what for a change would it cause if it happens and if it is automatically for bad.

i am aware that monarchistic aspects of talossa are attractive to people especially those coming from an environment that lacks this kind of glitter or who have some feeling directly for monarchism. and i know quite some are already here.

i do not have it, i played kings and emperors when i was younger and i resigned to that kind of fun around age 18. when i joined back in my 25th the wagon of microethnicism, i was more interested in model society and suchs. now, when i turned 50, i am more into friends and kinda playful environment where things happen.

i am by no means an ideal talossan, i know. if, i would like to be a royal jester, a pricky prankster, wilie coyote of red-and-green, but i understand people here like it more seriously ;)

i also admit that i cause my fair share of damage to talossa by not participating actively as often as it would be necessary to fuel up the process of vivid culture. la cupâ à mhe. where are those times i could sit at penguinean disco board for hours a day... today, as we say here, too many hunted hares cause the wolf to die of hunger. but as they were saying in saloons of the wild west, do not shoot the pianist, he's trying his best.

jokes aside, i am not sure what is going on here. so, some fans of good ol'times do worry, that talossa may change and that change is sure for worse?

i am by no means conservative, and definitely not that type of spooked conservative who jumps up-and-down when the date on the calendar moves on. what even would be a problem if talossa turns republic? like someone is going to lose hir aristocratic sandbox, no more fancy and empty titles, no dandy CoA-s? or republic would be so unattractive to those new prospective citizens who today stay in lines before the gates of talossa and then when let in, they swirl in social and cultural activity?

more, do not we believe in our democracy? why do we pretend to have a constitutional parliamentary monarchy? we are holding a referendum, boy, this is not a governmental or parliamentary coup d'etat.

talossa needs a practical political system, which hardly goes with king gone AWOL. anyway, aren't we already too old for micronational cosplay? talossa rather needs vivid cultural life than vain symbols. or we're going to turn into a dusty museum. don't get me wrong, i love museums, but just as deposits of well-organised artifacts, not a place to live.

let me go with this: what's in a name? that which we call talossa by any other name would smell as sweet.

¡sa viva talossa!

just to show that i am alive and do care, but am also overwhelmed by the outside world (rhymes with "country for future" and "best in covid", not to mention a semester at full throttle).

i have no major comments to the proposals above except for:

ad 3) i would really consider if it would be an ID or passport, as miestra could be right and we cannot issue passports, if understood properly.

ad 5) unsurprisingly, as a former republican, i do not hold that tight on a king stuff, although as a peculiarist, i am not fundamentally against kingdom and suchs, but i have my reservations to the hereditary aspects. i would rather go for an elective king/queen as a head of state. i am from central europe, we used to elect kings and emperors, at least in the holy roman empire (and since approx XVIcc, estates also had to approve a new king in the kingdom of bohemian crown lands).

i am gaming a bit myself :) but i am into strategic things rather than RPG, adventures or suchs. recently i acquired the PC version of the old board game "game of thrones". we played a lot this one ages ago with my friends. the PC allows to play it even over mountains and seas.

does anyone know e.g. anno 1404?

You make an excellent point. We must of course exercise caution when taking data from the horse's mouth. I certainly wouldn't want to give the impression that I admire the containment strategy of the PRC. But, as a one-party state, they are 'playing on easy mode', for lack of a more sensitive term. It must be somewhat easier to contain an outbreak when you can simply ban people from going where they please under threat of force. I wish that some of my Australian countrymen were less inclined to fawn over the PRC's draconian measures as though they were worthy of emulation.

if we continue to dissect the chinese authoritative regime, you are right, that they have more tools in their arsenal to contain the epidemy, but they failed in the critical initial stage, when the epidemy started. the combinations of suspicion towards their subjects (there is no infection, only dissidents are trying to mess up our brave new world) and of trying not to loose the face (cos we cannot admit we started it) produced very similar political failure as this of clueless demo regimes later.

honestly, it was a quite a sad coincidence of circumstances - absence of proper legal background for food business in china (almost no regulations at; being an analytical biochemist, i know it from my friends who work in food analysis and regulations), by faaaar different level of urbanisation and market culture in china, their rigid authoritative/totalitarian regime, overall unregulated traveling (not that i cry for its regulation, but it gives us this kinda payback), increasing political populism in demo countries and generally increasing distrust for official institutions (including medical science). it is a toxin cocktail, which accumulated over time and became a founding ground for covid-19.

and in the light of this, i really admire people fighting it directly (nurses, docs, whole rescue system), cos despite what is or might be wrong, they go on. my bro and sister-in-law are nurses who are directly involved, so to them too!

sorry, if i am annoying, the steam must be vented ;)

Conversely, the People's Republic of China, a contemporary gulag archipelago, has contained its own outbreaks remarkably well.

:o there is this one thing which puzzles me, how would we know any relevant data from PRC? e.g. recent WHO research tells, that at least in wuhan, official numbers (infected, deceased) are at least one order lower than they, high probably, were. i lived in bolshevik country, i lived in the time of chernobyl (i was 16), so i would not believe any PRC official in regard to anything regime-sensitive even he tells me he has nose in-between his eyes ;)

yes, czechia, UK, USA, ..., quite some political representatives in demo countries mostly pretty fucked up facing covid, but they are not secretive and publish even quite unfavourising data. well, we may debate what's good in it, but i prefer honesty and openness, even it does not bring the right fruit right at time, to totalitarian dirigism and cryptogamousness(TM).

i appreciate and admire your attitude to what you've said 8) it is damn difficult to admit one's wrong and it is a mastery hard to achieve.
