I have put in an order for a single coin, but also made a separate monetary contribution.

Will the @Burgermeister of Internal Revenue confirm to me publicly or privately that both things were received succcesfully?

Should it be of value to the realm, I conduct a backup of my network attached storage at least quarterly and rotate external hard drives back and forth off site to secure storage in a Wells Fargo safe deposit box.  I would be happy to include an archive of Talossan data whether it be in raw or compiled forms within that process.  There are certainly other options including alternative online storage, but consider this an offer of specific physical storage to augment other archives.

Sounds like another good reason to have a legally registered agent of a Talossan corporation.

Paging the @Seneschal, @Regent, and @Burgermeister to see if they would be interested.

So, to be clear, we did not make any changes to 2020-10 and merely reintroduced it, despite the Constable's veto?

I vote NO on 2020-10 and 2020-11 for aforementioned reasons.

We will also want to agree to a basic set of parliamentary procedure in advance. Not because the live sitting will be stuffy and full of dry procedure, but just so that we have a common and basic understanding of (a) who speaks when for how long and (b) how to stay on track.

We should change the official name of "Avocat-Xheneral" to "Legal Beagle". The imagery of the metaphor is perfect.

Zoom is fine. It will just be difficult if non-members want to observe us. I like the idea that people could join and observe, which is easy with Discord.

6th Clark would mean... April 2021? The sooner we set a date, the more likely all of us can attend.

We do have a Discord server. Does anyone use it?

I am fond of strategy games but can enjoy any game with the right company ;)

Among Us is a low barrier to entry with a good variance of player numbers (as few as 5, as much as 10). We should try to get a good Among Us round going. Paging the @Seneschal.

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

I like that a lot, and while I was considering another possibility after reading through the old thread I'm not entirely sure that would pass muster.

Is there a site where I can play around with tincture and blazon options anymore?

There are many sites that allows you to design your CoAs, but in almost all of them you have to choose from their set formats. So, there's not much of a chance to tinker...

What he said^

I am pretty decent with emblazonments (fancy word to say, "make a picture"), so if you share in words what you might like then I can turn it into something visual.

On the other hand, when making blazons for folks, I like to get broad strokes of themes first before specific imagery. What would you like your coat of arms to represent? What are major themes in your life? Again, not symbols but themes. I am looking for topics, such as:

  • Loyalty
  • Love
  • Intelligence
  • Wakes up early
  • Never backs down from a challenge
  • Warrior spirit
  • etc.

Thank you kindly for your trust in me when making this appointment. I intend to carry out my role dutifully, honorably, and graciously.

May Talossan heraldry live forever on!

Is there anyone out there which I/we are unaware of and who (a) is trustworthy, (b) lives in the United States, (c) is capable and willing of serving as the legally registered agent of a Talossa corporation, and (d) is confident with bureaucratic and sometimes Kafkaesque stuff?

I am one. The problem is that I live nowhere near Talossa proper (aka Milwaukee).

2. A periodically elected King (with quite long terms)

That would be perfectly acceptable to me as a "historic compromise" - something like 7 years.

Even as a staunch republican I could support this also. Perhaps if the referendum results are pretty unclear we could meet in this middleground?

If this is happening than I might as well be included, even if only to constantly say "no"

You beat me to the draw here, lol. Please see the edited first post. Even if you say "no" to every possible OrgLaw change, you may have interest in the legal reforms.

El Viestül/The Lobby / Committee of Legal Reforms

Capriciously verbose thread titles notwithstanding...

The program of the incumbent Government includes, in part:

Quote
Setting up two Ziu committees with equal Govt/Opposition representation to produce reports, including proposed legislation if appropriate, on:

Reform of the Cosă/Ziu.
These might include: the Cosă's size, electoral system and ways of assigning seats; the possibility of a unicameral Ziu; moving responsibility for the Clark from the Chancery to the Mençéi and the Tuíschac'h.

Law reform.
This might include: removing Wisconsin law from el Lexhatx in favour of an indigenous equivalent; moving to an inquisitorial rather than adversarial Cort system; moving to a civil law rather than a common law system.

Accordingly, I am opening the roll and asking if there are any "volunteers". Specifically, do the @Seneschal and @Leader of the Opposition have anyone which they would like to include or see included in this endeavor?

Thank you kindly.
#74
Doesn't have to be more complicated, but even there you implied a unicameral Ziu. That's a big change for Talossa.
#75
MMP requires constituencies. That's the whole point of "mixed-member" in "mixed-member proportional".

If we had a closed-list proportional system but only 15 seats, like is being suggested, then we run into the problem that was already pointed out: small parties get shut out. By creating constituencies we ensure the possibility that smaller parties still get a fair crack at gaining seats.

But again:

QuoteIs Talossa ready for that? And wouldn't that conflict too much with provincial Senators?

I would never want to see Talossa become a nation of two parties. We're already almost there. We should do every effort to make the Cosa accessible, so that "everyday citizens" can enjoy a meaningful role in the lawmaking process.

If you take that as the highest priority/principle, as I do, then a 15-member Cosa with closed-list PR is a really bad idea.

So, again:

QuoteI am basically articulating that the status quo should remain, or we go all in for a unicameral Ziu with 15-20 seats using MMP. Everything else feels like a broken half-measure compromise that creates more problems than solves.
