Have to run that past Cabinet but my initial reaction is that successful playtesters have already qualified

Now that playtesting of the Civics Test seems to be successful, we need to move on to getting ID cards into Talossan hands.

The Deputy Minister in charge of Talossaware, s:reu Autofíl, is currently preparing a proposal for Cabinet based on:
a) final final finalization of the ID card design;
b) making a Budget request for printing and postage.

The four sitting CpI judges are Senior Judge Cjantscheir, Judge V. Marcianüs, Judge I. Perþonest, and Judge O. Edwards. I think someone's forgetting the last one on that list, or getting confused and thinking T. dal Nordselva is still on the bench.

The overall feedback we're getting is that - with a few tweaks - the difficulty is correct. Any other feedback from playtesters?

A point of constitutional order. Only full members of Cabinet are "members of the incoming Government" and as such bear collective responsibility for our policy. Dr Montagnha is of course free to give his personal opinion, but he's not a "member of the Government", meaning his opinion (if any) will not reflect the Government's collective opinion.

The question of immigration statistics and their usefulness is correctly aimed at the Minister of Immigration, Senator Plätschisch. Myself, I agree with Ian.

Well, considering how you just voted for Breneir's bill

"Brenéir's bill" whose first draft was written by me, based on a proposal that was first raised at the last FreeDems convention ;D No offence to the Senator, but this was a cross-party initiative.

The idea of giving seats as of right to new and therefore unrepresented citizens is precisely so newbies could get involved without what I still see as the corrupting effect of existing parties handing out the political equivalent of candy from a windowless van.

Wittenberg / CIVICS TEST: Playtesters required!!!
April 14, 2022, 09:21:19 PM
Okay-dokey, skips! The Talossan Civics Test is now set up on the quizglobal.com platform. And we need playtesters before we make it an official part of the "getting an ID card" scheme.

Here's how it works:
1) volunteers send me an email address by PM (or via Facebook if you know me there);
2) I "enrol" you on the quizglobal.com website;
3) you go to quizglobal.com, log in, and you should be taken right to the test.

Clear as mud? Go for it. I think if we get 10 users of the test and no-one finds any problems, we're good to go?

On one level, you know precisely what I think of offering new citizens seats post-election; what I have always thought of it; the several legal reforms I've brought in to make it unnecessary and difficult.

On another level, Tric'hard is a valuable citizen and I did my best to offer him a place on the FreeDems list, but he declined. Surprised to see him change his mind, that's all.

The whole idea of giving free seats to new citizens is that they're unrepresented in the Cosa. But Tric'hard voted, so he is represented. I would heartily support him taking seats from whichever party he voted for.

Tric'hard, you honestly want to join the anti-government party? When the FreeDems asked you before the election whether you wanted to join the party list and win seats "the honest way", and you told us no?  :(

If it's going to be like that, I'm equally authorised to ask the Free Democrats to give you a seat or two.

Getting things done
Having more fun

To expand on the good Senator's comments above: I made it 100% clear during the election campaign that I was coming out of retirement due to a crisis in the party and no-one else being prepared to do the job. Things have now changed. I am relieved that they have changed - not least in the aftermath of an election campaign in which our Opposition's main weapon seemed to be extreme rudeness and personal attacks against me.

The election campaign was horrible for my mental health. It's not fun to be reminded how much people actively despise me, personally. It was everything I could do to limp across the finish line, and I was actually dreading another 6-8 months of being the target for sheer nastiness. Part of me even kind of hoped we'd lose, so I would have an excuse to just disappear from Talossa and forget about everything.

I am immeasurably grateful that my Party has seen fit to send someone else into the "line of fire", as it were, and that our coalition partners have agreed. I hope that the lightening of my burden will allow me to see out the rest of this term as a Minister and an MC, in good conscience, and fulfil my obligations and those of my party.

¡Sa vivadra Talossa democrätic! ¡Ya Allà, aucün capitulaziun, aucün regeu!

Would this do the job? A new El Lex H.6.3.3.

QuoteIf a bill is amended significantly after the CRL has given its recommendation, the CRL may offer a new recommendation on the bill, which may include a request for the Secretary of State to exercise their powers under H.6.7.4 below.

That H.6.7.4:

QuoteThe Secretary of State is empowered to refuse to put a certain bill on a Clark if said bill is so substantially different from its form as a legislative proposal when "passed to committee" that it constitutes a significantly different proposal.

Of course, the proposer of a bill has the right in any case to just tell the CRL "I don't agree with your recommendations" and Clark a bill which the CRL has expressed problems with. I think we should retain that or the CRL becomes too powerful/liable to corruption. What do others think?

Can someone with the King's ear get him to countersign quickly?
