From my very quick count if Sir XPB had voted for himself (or if S;reu Tamoran hadn't), he'd have won, but now it's probably the other way round. (This post is not the actual preliminary result obviously, too tired to post those today)

A typical honorable action is to vote for one's opponent, which is what I did.

My votes for the August 2020 General Elections

League of Centre Conservatives (LCC) for Cosâ

Për on The There's No Such Thing As A Free Senäts Seat Amendment (54RZ16)

Për on the The Amada Mertgedes Martyrdom Memorial Act (54RZ22)

Contra on the The Uniform Seneschál Election Act (54RZ23)

Për on the Judiciary Amendment of 2020 (54RZ25)

Për on The Non-Hereditary Monarchy Amendment (54RZ28)

Ian Tamoran for Senäts (Cézembre) who has been a citizen for nearly a decade.  Although the election system allows for up to five candidates to be named, it is my opinion that only one should be selected.

For the Province my vote does not default to the LCC but instead will be for the Valançar / Balance party in l'Etats de Cézembre, a party I will lead at the local level (V/B will be an entity to exist at the local not national level, much in the way of the past party CRO/VCC Cézembre Reunification Organization, or Viensità Ciumisâ Cézembre) I shall endeavor via l'Etats to institute a standard for provincial election such that the Chancery would no longer be burdened with that task.

my vote by public statement - X. Pol Briga of Cézembre

2. Will the ranked choice be all public votes on an individual basis?
I personally have always voted in public along with many others, while some choose a secret ballot.  My opinion is that ranked choice needs full transparency and may have problems in a combined public and secret ballot system.

With respect, this is the kind of procedural quibbling I often get from the King when he wants to derail something.

Can I ask, YES NO or MAYBE, will you vote for the Ranked Choice Referendum Bill as currently proposed in the Hopper?

The referendum is not about acceptance of the procedure of ranked choice voting, it is about an imbalance of choices.

It is my opinion that there should be a simple vote between options 1 - the King of Talossa shall continue to have the political powers granted by the current Organic Law.
and 3 - the King of Talossa shall be replaced by an elected Head of State

the 2nd option is effectively the same as #3.

I will vote Non

Perhaps it is time to assemble Cézembre Reunification Organization, or Viensità Ciumisâ Cézembre https://wiki.talossa.com/CRO and to support both those who support a republic and those who support a monarchy.

I appreciate the commentary, and will be happy to engage in any debate with the honorable Ián Plätschisch regarding representation of Cézembre.

Well, good, but your opponent is Ián Tamorán.

Pardon my error.  I look forward to discussions with the correct Ián

QuoteI merely noted that there was no sitting Senator for the province, found that there was an impasse in getting that resolved, and volunteered to serve

The issue is not with your commendable willingness to serve; but with the fact that the King didn't fill the Cézembre Senäts seat as soon as it became lamentably vacant, but only when the Non-Hereditary Monarchy bill was up for its final reading. There is an ongoing issue with the King being helpful to Talossa only when it's helpful to defending his powers.

What is your opinion on the Ranked Choice Referendum Bill in the Hopper, which allows Talossans to have a say on whether they approve of the current Royal powers? This is important to dispel any erroneous notions that your role in the Senäts is to defend Royal interests, not Cézembrian interests.

1. I was browsing around and reading the forums and noticed the situation without having any prompt nor contact with the King.  Perhaps it is being implied that I am under some kind of Royal directive which is not the case.

I appreciate the commentary, and will be happy to engage in any debate with the honorable Ián Plätschisch regarding representation of Cézembre.  As some may recall, I was active in the Reunision efforts to eliminate the division between Talossans.  I do support the Monarchy, but I am of an open mind for both reform and tradition.  As to any inference that I have somehow attempted to subvert the office -- I merely noted that there was no sitting Senator for the province, found that there was an impasse in getting that resolved, and volunteered to serve.  The King indeed did make that proclamation, and I served for one Clark.  I have served as Senator for the province in the past, and I am sure that any of our citizens who express interest are doing so in the best interest of Cézembre and the Kingdom.

My message in the old Witt of Apr 20, 2012 at 11:05pm
As it appears that votes of confidence in the current Clark have sufficient tally in favor, thus eliminating the opportunity to throw ourselves out of office:

The Viensità Ciumisâ Cézembre VCC-CRO The Cézembre Reunification Organization -- as of Reunision Day which is still temporally present in the Mountain Time Zone, announces to our Monarch, John by the Grace of God, King of Talossa and of all its Realms and Regions, King of Cézembre, Sovereign Lord and Protector of Pengöpäts and the New Falklands, Defender of the Faith, Leader of the Armed Forces, Viceroy of Hoxha and Vicar of Atatürk and to all ministerial positions that:

1. Our party name has now changed to the REUNISION PARTY
2. Our party will exist only until the time of the next general election
3. Our party offers, to the best of our abilty, to all those who have recently made statements of Returniture/Reunision Oathings that have interest, a seat representing the Reunision Party in what is hoped to be the final Clark of the current formation of the Ziu. Since we only have 13 seats to allocate, as well as needing the assent of Ián Tamorán and Eoin Ursüm in order to reallocate certain seats at their own volition, there may come a point where requests would be made beyond the ability of our party to fulfill. It is hoped that other parties will consider offering seats those beyond our capacity to accommodate.

Long live the King, and we look forward to the future of our great realm.

I indicated my interest in the Cézembre forum to stand for election as Senator.  I have not seen any indication of objection in that forum to having the Chancery conduct the election, and was advised to also post my interest in this thread.

Cézembre / Re: Cézembre Senate (+Etats) election
July 12, 2020, 10:34:57 PM
Given the fact that a royal appointment was needed for a Senator to be active in the last Clark of the previous session in part due to confusion in the province, it would seem appropriate for the Chancery to conduct this election.  I was honored to serve Cézembre for that one session and shall place my name up for regular election for consideration of the citizenry.

As the most recent Senator of Cezembre (by appointment for the final Clark of the previous session) I will inquire if it is the desire of the citizens of that fair province to have the Chancery conduct the election as suggested.

So in the early part of this thread the dates are shifting June to July (ballots out by 7/25 and July to August (ballots due 8/1) correct?
#612
I served for the June 2020 Clark, and now I think there is some question on how to proceed - see http://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?topic=338.msg2062#msg2062

I am willing to stand for election, rather than merely appointment, and would welcome any competition for the position.

Out of sheer curiosity, can I ask whether the provincial authorities in Maritiimi-Maxhesti, Benito, Vuode and Cézembre will be conducting their own Senäts elections, or getting the Chancery to do so (with reference to OrgLaw V:7)? The Free Democrats need to know to whom to address our candidate registrations

Given the difficulty in having an election in Cézembre due to the absence of the Seneshal, I was recently appointed Senator and served for June legislation.  Should this condition persist, then perhaps I would again need to seek reappointment rather than election - it remains to be seen.

Record my preliminary votes as recently appointed Senator of Cezembre

PËR RZ27 / UC Inactivity Definition Bill

NON RZ28 / The Non-Hereditary Monarchy Amendment

I will consider the discussion and potentially amend my vote as stated in the voting rules

I have sent a message to the King on the topic as well.
