Messages - Þon Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM

Azul,
As my beloved Ministry position was stripped from me during a time of difficultly in my own life, I feel that there is a disconnect from my Party which cannot... in good conscience... be ignored. I truly loved the Defence Ministry, as it was the one place in Talossa that I felt I could make a difference. Clearly, my Party leadership disagrees... removing me without speaking a single word to me directly. In light of this, I hereby resign from the Free Democrats, effective immediately.

Further, I sadly wish to inform the Kingdom and the Crown that... at the end of my term as Senator representing the good people of Maricopa... I currently plan on stepping down from all government roles, including Commandant of the Royal Talossan Marine Corps... a position I have held honorably for nearly a decade, and moving to inactive status.

While I have no intention of renouncing my citizenship at this time, I have over the last year, become incredibly disillusioned with the Kingdom and the political in-fighting that has become a great deal of the entirety of my interactions with Talossa... from my own term as PM becoming so toxic and depressing I had to seek professional help to cope with the mental anguish just being involved was doing to me.

I fully understand, after a single term as Seneschal, what @KingJohn said in his own piece earlier. For me, Talossa has lost its magic and fun. I no longer feel that it is a home, for neither my fun nor energy. I can't say that it wasn't a good experience, because I have enjoyed my time in Talossa and fully intend to represent Maricopa well in the Senate this term. However, I feel it best to begin sundowning my time in the Kingdom. It's been an incredible 7+ years but when it's not fun anymore and you see your own colleagues & Party turn their backs on you, it's time to call it a day. When you no longer feel wanted, why stay when others trust you and respect you elsewhere.

Respectfully,
Gen. Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM
Senator for Maricopa

Wittenberg / Apologies & Return to Witt
August 19, 2022, 03:52:11 PM
Azul,
I wanted to hop in and quickly make an apology for my absence as of late. I had several things hit me in my personal life all at once and had to address them. I have not forgotten about the requests and tasks before my Office as MinDef and will be addressing those over the coming two weeks. The last couple of weeks have been busy, mainly good things including 'officially' popping the question (kind of a duh after all these years, but she said yes!) and the planning a simple ceremony in Portugal this fall is now in full swing! I ask that you give me a few days to get reentered and then we will push ahead.

Thanks,
Gen. Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM

Rouge Elephant Herald,

I love the one presented for the Zouavs! The one above is specifically for the MoD as a whole.

Your ministry was already granted an achievement, many years ago.  It features a caltrop on the bicoloreu.  It can be seen on the wiki at present on the page for your ministry.

I am aware of that achievement. My thoughts were more along the lines of something like this:

To the Squirrel King of Arms,

On behalf of the Ministry, I humbly come before the College to being the process of creating both the long desired formal trappings of the Ministry as a whole and specifically the Ministry's most prominent division... Els Zuávs da l'Altahál Rexhitál (The Zouaves of the Royal Bodyguard). I formally request the College's assistance, as Minister of Defence, in creating designs of Organizational Coats of Arms for both the Ministry and the Royal Guard.

Additionally, as my colleague from Culture previously requested for their Ministry, I would like the College's assistance on Ministry related "Talossan versions of Letters Patent, State Awards, and other physical forms of the trappings of Monarchy and chivalry" in so creating, designing, and presenting to the Ziu for formal adoption those things that serve to recognize serving members of the Ministry (both Military & Civilian) commitment and dedication to the Kingdom... so that these might be presented to the Ziu to be adopted for formal usage within the Kingdom. This will include military & civil service awards, Letters Patent of Enlistment & Commission, and heraldic assistance with insignia for service awards & ranks.

I understand this will be a no doubt daunting effort on behalf of both the Ministry and the College, but I will work diligently with your support to making these goals a reality.

Respectfully,

General Þon Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM

Not at all Dr. Nordselva. I do apologize for my tone... I was emotionally comprised due to discussions this morning with a colleague that was considering self-harm.

I also apologize for responding before you could address it.

Respectfully,

I sincerely wish that the Baron was as concerned about the King's absence for months as he was for my absence of two weeks. I have been dealing with a mental health crisis as of late... sorry for that being an "dissatisfying" issue for the Baron. I would be more than happy to relinquish the Mantle of Minster of Defence, if that is what the Baron wishes. That would free me to focus on my Senate duties for this term before stepping away from Talossa completely. Part of my mental health issues arise from dealing with the near daily hostility in Talossa and I was, after a break from the relentless spitefulness, actually feeling like myself again. I desire nothing more than to remove as much negativity from my life.

I agreed to take the job, as I agreed to be Prime Minister. I intended do MY job... even when the King blatantly refused to do his by showing up and being involved in HIS job, not passing the buck to you! I've lost a Grandparent to COVID, lost my job, survived COVID myself, four COVID scares at my girls' school... all the while dealing with people attempting to blow holes in my first Administration and then try to find my place again... even the motivation to even stay.

Why? Why would anyone want to willingly stay and put up with the nasty, ridiculous backstabbing and personal attacks placed on members of the government and even citizens mainly by one party. I didn't post because for my health, I actively avoided almost all things Talossa not DIRECTLY related to my job. It isn't fun anymore, its not a joy to come here anymore. It's a punishment to have to come and see a party actively for nothing more than spite, attack the government and individuals. I'm an American by birth and a Coast Guardsmen of nearly 15 years... someone that understands service and military likely better than anyone in Talossa. I've also watched my home country tear itself apart thanks to the actions of a single political ideology. I came to Talossa to escape... and that ideology followed me here in the form of the TNC.

I'm happy to do my job, something I have been working on for the better part of decade. Building a well-structured Talossan MinDef. But let me do my goddamn job. Don't pointlessly blast the government with time wasting requests from the government just to make yourselves feel important! That kind of bullshit interference starts out annoying and pointless wastes of time and, in America, ended in women losing the right to control their own bodies! Political interference for the sheer purpose of governmental obstruction is ridiculous and unlike in my home country where I can't just up and leave, will cost Talossa citizens and likely already has.

The Honours System will be posted in the Defence Section for review on August 1st along with the Ranks. I will have the spelling corrections completed and ready for the Ziu in a month from today, if not before. The Request for Arms is almost finished and will be submitted this week. And lastly, the Captain will have a rank structure and org table for approval by August 1.

You want me to stay, I'll stay... but I'm 40 goddamn years old with a Masters Degree. I don't have anymore time in my life to argue with children! If I want to argue with kids, I have a 8 & 9 year old at home.

Good evening,
In response to your query, the following update:

1) Work with the College of Arms for an Achievement to be granted to the Zouaves incorporating a crown, crossed bedposts, and the official name in Talossan,

This will be completed by next week for submission to the College to begin the process of granting an Achievement for the Zouaves.

2) Work with the current active members of the Zouaves to develop a working, formal structure that will allow efficient, internal management of the Guard,

I plan on getting together with the Captain next week to go over development

3) Work with the Ziu to get legislation through to both correct the spelling in all formal documents as well as enshrine both the Zouaves and the rest of the Talossan military's formal ranks into law,

Currently being drafted. Looking at initial draft to the Ziu for review next month.

4) Develop a formal system of awards and honors for the Defence Ministry, encompassing military and civil awards for service in the Ministry and to the Crown,

Actively under development

5) Move forward with the selection and approval of ranks/insignia of the Zouaves

To be discussed with the Captain next week.

Thank you again for your question. As to curating & promotions, these will also be discussed with the Captain next week.

Azul,

My apologizes for the delay as my industry has been insanely busy in recent weeks with all the storms in my part of Maricopa. Now, to the Ministry's plans for the coming term:

1) Work with the College of Arms for an Achievement to be granted to the Zouaves incorporating a crown, crossed bedposts, and the official name in Talossan,

2) Work with the current active members of the Zouaves to develop a working, formal structure that will allow efficient, internal management of the Guard,

3) Work with the Ziu to get legislation through to both correct the spelling in all formal documents as well as enshrine both the Zouaves and the rest of the Talossan military's formal ranks into law,

4) Develop a formal system of awards and honors for the Defence Ministry, encompassing military and civil awards for service in the Ministry and to the Crown,

5) Move forward with the selection and approval of ranks/insignia of the Zouaves ( https://talossamainstreet.weebly.com/ranks.html ) or something of the like.

These are the current plans/goals and are subject to change. The Ministry welcomes input from all citizens as we continue to work towards a better and safer Talossa.

In Service,
Gen. Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM

"Requirements for Associate Membership:

1. Be a citizen of Talossa.
2. Write an essay of not less than three paragraphs but not more than ten paragraphs outlining an active, scholarly interest you have and how you can advance that scholarly interest as an associate member of the Royal Society.

Requirements for Fellow of the Royal Society:

1. A Royal Fellow will have met all of the requirements for associate membership.
2. A Royal Fellow will possess at a minimum the equivalency of a High School Diploma
3. A Royal Fellow must declare upon application a scholarly interest and to maintain membership at this level will present at least one lecture annually on that topic.

Requirements for Senior Fellow of the Royal Society:

1. A Senior Fellow will have met all of the requirements for Fellow of the Royal Society.
2. A Senior Fellow will possess at a minimum the equivalency of a two-year Degree from a college, university, or technical school.
3. A Senior Fellow will present at minimum one lecture per year and participate in the annual Royal Society Symposium either as a lecturer or presenter."

The Society used to be the University and it was pretty different, some years ago.  When it was referred to as the University, people would offer lecture series and full courses devoted to things that interested them.  The old message board shows a bit of how it used to be: https://talossa.proboards.com/board/30/royal-society-advancement-knowledge  I actually taught two classes when that was a thing: one on wiki-markup and another on the writer Ernest Hemingway.

I suppose that, technically speaking, there are no existing fellows or senior fellows.  The only one who has ever offered a lecture is @Ian Plätschisch , I think, and that was a few years ago.  And there's never been a symposium, ever.  I'm not sure who's in charge, but nothing's been done with the place basically since they eliminated the University and replaced it with the Society.  It'd be great if a scholar took charge and started keeping track of things.  If it were me, I'd put @Ian Plätschisch , @Magniloqueu Épiqeu Ac'hlerglünä da Lhiun  , and @Ián Tamorán S.H.  as sitting senior fellows, since they're people who I know have presented us actual new work in a scholarly way, and reboot the whole thing otherwise with everyone else who'd been involved demoted to associates until they did something.

Excuse me Baron, I've been a Senior Fellow for several years

WHEREAS 56RZ10, The Small OrgLaw Amendment (Dignity of the Túischac'h) Act copy-pasted (with a few amendments) the current El Lexhatx H.17 into the OrganicLaw as IV.12;

AND WHEREAS this bill was also meant to subsequently delete H.17 from El Lexhatx as superfluous;

AND WHEREAS through a catastrophic failure by both the bill's author and the CRL, it instead deleted H.21, a completely unrelated section concerning Living Cosas;

1. El Lexhatx H.17 is hereby deleted in its entirety.
2. El Lexhatx H.21 is hereby restored in its entirety as the following text:

Quote21. The Cosa may hold living Cosas during subsequent Clarks by a vote of the Cosa naming the specific month in which the event is to take place. The exact date and location of the Living Cosâ shall be set by the Seneschál after consultation with all relevant parties. All members must receive two weeks notice of the date of the Living Cosâ. The Seneschál may, if events warrant, issue a PD authorizing a Living Cosâ in the following calendar month. Such a PD may be vetoed (in addition to normal means) by a formal protest to the Secretary of State by Members of the Cosâ comprising one-third or greater the number of elected seats in the Cosâ.

21.1 Members who cannot attend will not be denied the right to vote on that month's Clark. They may send their votes to the Secretary of State by any means feasible, so that they can be announced at the Living Cosâ. A member may, in writing, delegate his authority to vote (temporarily transfer his seats) to another person who can attend the Living Cosâ, but no individual may hold more than thirty seats, counting both proxy and permanently assigned seats, for purposes of the Living Cosâ. The Ziu may provide by law, without needing to go through committee, for quorum requirements, and for attendance via telephone, videoconference, or other remote means.

21.2 Votes presented to the Secretary of State after the Living Cosâ will not be counted in the final tally. The final tally of votes on all bills is taken at the end of the Living Cosâ.

21.3 New bills, or amendments, may not be presented at the Living Cosâ. No bill not published in the Clark may be debated. Clarks will be published on schedule as usual.

21.4 Senators shall be permitted to participate in Living Cosâ debates on the same terms as MCs, but may not delegate or exercise proxy votes.
