This will be the thread where I post all the finals. The rules for each final will be the same.

Keep in mind voting on regular rounds and nominations are still ongoing in the other thread.

The deadline for each final will be december 1st 05:00 am TST

Many thanks to everyone who nominated songs. Of course, people who did not are still very welcome to participate.

The final round for each group has 10 songs. Since people might not want to rank 10 songs for six different groups, you have three options to vote:
-Give your top 10 songs 12,10,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 points
-Give your top 5 songs 5,4,3,2,1 points
-Give your top 3 songs 3,2,1 points

SEND YOUR VOTES TO ME IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE. DO NOT POST THEM HERE.

The top-ranked song that has not already been nominated to a previous edition of the TMT20 will be automatically nominated to the 2026 regular edition.

Tiebreakers:
- Number of voters giving 12 points
- Number of voters giving 10 points
...
- Number of voters giving 2 points
- PPV in Round 1
- Random chance

Maybe people interested in political reform might find this interesting.

From what I understand the algorithm used is called weighted inclusive gregory method. The main features of this are

-votes are transfered fractionally rather than randomly transfering whole votes. Some countries transfer whole votes, but without large numbers of votes to back this up this quickly becomes unfair and arbitrary and therefore unusable in a Talossan context.

- The quota needed to be elected is as low as possible (votes/("seats"+1)), because otherwise it would be very hard for any candidate to reach the threshold which results in a lot of eliminations, which might introduce more randomness.

Additionally, if there is a tie for elimination, we will first look at the preference of all votes between the tied categories. If that does not produce a result, we will have multiple scenarios which will be decided by random chance if these do produce different end results.

The votes are somewhat artificially constructed, with people who nominated categories having one vote for other peoples categories + one vote which is constructed from their own categories followed by others categories. This results in 2*6+1 = 13 votes, which is still fewer than the number of candidates (17), which will fill 5 spots.

Note: at this point I don't know myself what the results will be, so we will find out together

Race starts saturday so only limited time to submit your team!

And we are back for the final leg of 2025. Esqipă Velocostă have managed to win both legs so far. Are they going for the first ever season triple or is some other team gonna put a stop to this? We start in Italy again, but of course as this is the third leg we end in Madrid. That is still very far away of course as first the teams will need to cycle 3,151 km including lots of climbing and potentially (as is often the case in Spain) dealing with high temperatures as well. Vingegaard came second in tour making him the big favourite (and also by far the most expensive pick), but will he live up to expectations?

Team registrations are now open. Here team leaders can find instructions on how to register their team.

Deadline

The deadline for entries to be submitted is 13:00 CEST (Cézembre Summer Time) / 06:00 (AM) TDT (Talossan Daylight Time) on Saturday August 20th, 2025.

How to register

Step 1: Create a Velogames account

If you already have a Velogames account you can proceed with step 2.
You can create a Velogames account by going to velogames.com -> log in -> click here to register

Step 2: Register your team

While logged in to Velogames, go to the following page: https://www.velogames.com/spain/2025/entryform.php

Here you can submit your team. After submitting your team you can still make changes to your team up until the deadline! On your team page, which you can find by clicking visit team, you can also change your team name and jersey.

Step 3: Join the Talossan Cycling Association Tour

After you set up your team you can go to your team page (visit team) and under team management there should be a button called join league. There you can join the Talossan Cycling Association Tour by entering the following league code: 639289433

(You can access league scores and/or view who's signed up here: https://www.velogames.com/spain/2025/leaguescores.php?league=639289433)

Team information
Each team needs to consist of 9 riders, with a combined total cost of up to 100 credits. These need to include 2 all rounders, 2 climbers, 1 sprinter, 3 unclassified riders, and 1 wildcard (which can be any category).

Generally, the credits assigned to the riders are pretty close to the consensus expection of how these riders will perform. This means it is possible to do well without much research, though of course if you do want to research your team there are many resources online, such as ProCyclingStats, various preview sites, bookmakers, and the youtube channel Ow Do Cycling. It is possible to use less than 100 credits, but this is usually not advisable.

A full list of participating riders, categories and credits can be found here. These should be mostly definitive, but should any of your picks drop out before the deadline without you noticing, Velogames will autoreplace them.

The rules for the competition can be found here. Note that we are only focused on the classic competition: 1 team that stays the same throughout the race.

The scoring system can be found here. Points are assigned daily for stage results, intermediate sprints, categorised summits, participating in breakaways, daily classification standings, and team assist points; and furthermore, a sizable chunk of points will be assigned based on the final classifications.

EDIT: We have proceeded to voting. See the appropriate post in this thread. Nominations are also ongoing in the nominations thread

Edit: deadline for nominating categories is close. See how to vote here: https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?topic=4326.msg36565#msg36565

tldr: NOMINATE 1, 2, or 3 categories that you would like to see in this year's special edition.

Introduction

As TMT master @Sir Ian Plätschisch has pointed out, it's been three years since we've had a special TMT edition. Special editions are usually held when there's two general elections in a year, so there is a big gap between regular editions.

In a special edition, unlike in regular TMT editions we don't make an overall top 20, but we select the most popular song in six specific categories, allowing us to take a deeper dive into different genres, instruments, lyrical themes, countries of origin, time periods, etc and bring some diversity into TMT as the best song in each category that hasn't been nominated for TMT before will automatically be nominated for the next regular editions. In the past many special edition winners have reached the final of the regular edition.

Categories

So basically the format will be the same as the 2023 special edition. The first order of business will be to select 5 of the 6 categories. This will be done using a modified version of STV. The sixth category, as is tradition, will be songs released since the previous TMT special edition.

There are a couple of rules with regards to categories.

* The following categories were already used in the two previous editions:
- Christmas music
- Classical music to have dinner to in the last day of Earth
- Comedy music
- Electronic Music
- Eurovision nominated songs
- Songs released on or after October 30th, 2019
- Movie Theme Songs
- Country Songs (excluding Johnny Cash)
- Songs with female lead vocals
- Songs to play while overthrowing the government
- German language songs
- Songs released in 2018/2019

These categories are off-limits (of course there can be some overlap, but preferably not too similar as there are still many to explore that we haven't done before).

* Categories can't be too common in regular TMT20. For example: "English language songs" or "Classic rock" might have been good categories, but if you look at the songs that actually made the Talossan Music Top 20, many of those would fall in both these categories, which defeats the point of the special edition. For reference: https://wiki.talossa.com/Talossan_Music_Top_20

* Categories can't be too niche. For example: "Music from Liechtenstein" may or may not be very interesting, but nobody is gonna be able to nominate songs for this category. We're gonna have to select categories where several participants are gonna be able to come up with at least 25 different songs.

* There can't be too much overlap. For example if someone nominates "Italian language songs" as a category and somebody else nominates "Songs from Italy", these will for a large part be the same songs, so if that happens one of these categories cannot be selected.

NOMINATE 1, 2, or 3 categories that you would like to see in this year's special edition. Deadline: August 30th, so in exactly 14 days from now.

Already selected categories (1/6)
- Songs released on or after February 2nd, 2023 (The day nominations opened for the recent songs category in the previous TMTSpecial)

Categories nominated so far:
- Covers of original songs
- Songs with less than 5000 listenings on Spotify
- Songs in invented language
- Songs that include unusual time signatures
- Songs with twin guitars
- Songs about historical events
- Commercial jingles
- Ska/reggae songs
- Metal songs
- Songs in French
- Songs that mention the weather
- Songs with no lyrics
- Songs sung by puppets
- Hymns/spiritual songs
- Indie rock
- Jazz/big band
- Eurodance/Eurodisco

One of the nice things about pro cycling footage are the helishots of various landmarks. Today's stage started near Cézembre which resulted in this gorgeous shot.

From Eurosport broadcast of 2025 tour de france.
Obviously not great quality because I recorded the tv on my phone. Go watch the actual tdf for better quality.

L'Óspileu/The Chat Room / Quick TCAT thoughts
July 03, 2025, 04:08:31 PM
Ok, without going into too much depths, some initial thoughts on some potential TCAT picks

Allrounders:

Pogacar (32) - He's probably gonna win and score loads of points while doing that. Obviously he's also really expensive, so the questions is will he be worth it?

Vingegaard (24) - Pretty solid alternative to Pogacar. Form seems good

Evenepoel (18) - Likely podium and a stagewin. Not a bad pick, but I'm not convinced

Almeida (16) - Will be working for Pogacar. Still a reasonably safe pick but there are better options

Roglic (14) - History tells us to never pick Roglic, but he's soo cheap this time. If you like to take a risk go for it, but prepare to be disappointed.

Lipowitz (12) - Will be working for Roglic, maybe, but has been in really good form, so worth a shot

Jorgenson (12) - Will be working for Vingegaard. I prefer Lipowitz

Johannessen (10) - Interesting pick. Might do nothing, but could also win a stage and end high in GC.

Adam Yates (10) - Don't think so

Arensman (8) - I keep picking him, but he keeps disappointing lately

Van Eetvelt (6) - Usually better to spend big on allrounders, but if you need a budget pick, Van Eetvelt is probably your best option

The season continues. After a spectacular win in the first leg by Esqipă Velocostă Time, we now move to France for the second leg. The route contains many typical highlights, such as the legendary Col de Tourmalet and the traditional finish on the Champs Elysees, but also a finish on Mont Ventoux and most importantly stage 7, which almost starts in Cézembre! (Perhaps @þerxh Sant-Enogat could provide some live commentary?)

Team registrations are now open. Here team leaders can find instructions on how to register their team.

Yes, it is in fact time for another Talossa chess tournament! Open to everyone from beginners to complete amateurs.

What
A Talossan online chess tournament. Four or five rounds (depending on the number of players), followed by a 3-game final for the first and second placed players.
Previous edition

Where
Wherever you want, but unless you and your opponent agree on an alternative venue the default will be lichess.org. Creating an account is free, simple, and doesn't require you to submit all sorts of personal information.*

When
Second half of 2025. Registration deadline is July 1st. Each rounds will take roughly a month. Within each month, each players is responsible for scheduling their game with their opponent, picking whatever date+time is most suitable.

How
Register by posting in this thread or letting me know by other means before July first!

The tournament will be created using https://swissonlinetournament.com/, which I will use to generate the matchups. The format will a swiss tournament, which (oversimplified) means players are matched with players that won the same amount of games so far.** The default time format will be 10+5, but players may agree to use a different time control. Detailed instructions for setting up your game in lichess will follow.

Sounds nice, but I'm terrible at chess
Based on the previous edition, so are the rest of us. The swiss format makes it more likely that you will play against opponents of similar strength towards the end of the tournament. It's just for fun, don't worry!

Cool, but will I have enough time for that
It's four or five 30 minute games, spread out over 6 months. There should be plenty of time to plan your games.

Yes, but I'm going on a month-long holiday to a remote island without internet
This doesn't need to be a problem, we can maybe shift the deadlines for rounds. But you should let me know in advance so we can find a solution.

*The organisation is in no way affiliated with lichess and is not sponsored or in any way or form paid for the organisation or for saying this.

**The organisation however reserves the right to exclude certain pairings in order to keep the tournament enjoyable for everyone.

Atatürk / Gear up, Atatürk
May 08, 2025, 05:13:52 AM
In 24 hours, teams representing all Talossan provinces will compete for eternal glory in the Talossan Cycling Association Tour.

Teams from all provinces you say? Well not quite, because no team from Atatürk has registered so far. Actually no team from Atatürk has registered ever...

I guess the citizens of Atatürk don't think their province is worth representing.

Or do they?

Yes, it is that time of year again. The winter is behind us. Time to get on the road again for season 4 (!!!!) of the Talossan Cycling Association Tour. As usual we have 3 legs ahead of us. All Talossans are invited to submit their teams to participate in 9871 kilometers of cycling across 6 countries (including a stage that starts less than 5000 meters away from the Talossan border) over the course of 9 weeks.

We start with the first leg, which will take us from Albania to Italy.

Team registrations are now open. Here team leaders can find instructions on how to register their team.

Deadline
The deadline for entries to be submitted is 13:15 CEST (Cézembre Summer Time) / 06:15 (AM) TDT (Talossan Daylight Time) on Friday May 9th, 2025. (So best get your team in next thursday at the latest)

(You can access league scores and/or view who's signed up here: https://www.velogames.com/italy/2025/leaguescores.php?league=639289433)

These should be reasonably final, but should any of your picks drop out before the deadline without you noticing, Velogames will autoreplace them.

Cézembre / Another victory for Cézembre incoming?
April 17, 2025, 11:34:07 AM
Tonight we'll find out if the Zambonis take home the first ever Talossan Naziunal Hachi aßociú trophy. Despite severe jetlag it increasingly looks like they might! Allez Cézembre!

(We don't talk about the other Cézembre team)

@þerxh Sant-Enogat has boasted that as a member of the Ziu, he voted on every clark. Sure, that might be important to some and sure, his opponent may have forgotten about this once,
BUT WHAT HE DOESNT TELL YOU

is that on the 6th of February, 2025, he FAILED to vote on groups 5 and 6 of round 1 of the Talossan Music Top 20, resulting in the heartbreaking elimination of Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors!!!

And then, only two weeks later, he again FAILED to vote on groups 3 and 4. Groups that included such classics as Once in a Lifetime and Wuthering Heights. Truly unforgiveable. And of course during the campaign þerxh has been completely SILENT about this!!!

Can you really trust someone like that with your vote???

I'm Glüc da Dhi and I approve this message.

I may have missed something

According to the proposal

QuoteA newly elected Ziu shall convene on the first day of the month after its general
election, to coincide with the publication of the first Clark. Its term shall be equal to
six Clarks, subject to the provisions elsewhere in this Organic Law. During its last
month, the King shall issue a Writ of Dissolution ending its term. Whenever the Cosă
may be dissolved, all its members shall resign.

The next clark would be May, so then the next writ of dissolution will be in October. (Anything else would be inorganic)

Also according to the proposal
QuoteThe King shall issue a Writ of Dissolution to dissolve the Cosă in the month of August
in odd-numbered Gregorian years, and in the months of April and December in even-
numbered Gregorian years. A Writ, once issued, takes effect only at the end of the
month in which it was issued, and may not be rescinded before it has taken effect.

It's 2025, so the next writ of dissolution will be in August. (Anything else would be inorganic)

I'm running for re-election, mostly because I think my votes in the senate tend to be reasonably correct. Admittedly that argument might not be that convincing to voters who aren't me.

Just to recap the previous two terms.

Last election I said:

"If elected I will read every bill and vote on every clark. I will be independent and not blindly follow the instructions of any party or caucus. Most likely I won't do much else. I suppose this would be a marginal improvement over our current senate representation, but is it good enough? "

I did read every bill, but unfortunately I failed to deliver on my second promise as I did not vote on the third clark of the 60th Cosa. I had read the bills, but somehow I forgot to actually vote. My votes wouldn't have made a difference, but honestly that is no excuse. I'm sorry

I did stick to my pledge of being independent. I think I jugded every bill on it's merit without taking partisan politics into consideration.

Perhaps to make up for my blunder of not voting I did do more than promised on other areas. I wrote a piece of legislation which passed. As a result of which the election will end 2,5 hours earlier (midnight CET instead of 2:30 am CEST), allowing Cézembreans living in Europe a better chance of being awake for election night. Something I hope will tangibly improve the enjoyment of our elections by Cézembreans.

Additionally during the 60th cosa I was elected Mençei and as such served on the CRL. I won't claim to have been a particularly active Mençei but as a CRL member I did provide comments on many pieces of legislation and I think on a number of occasions I may have pointed out issues regarding legislation that were overlooked by others.

If re-elected I promise to accept the role of Mençei again if again there are no other candidates/volunteers for the position. I also promise to keep reading bills and commenting on them whenever I think there is a problem. I will keep judging bills on their merit and not follow the instructions of any political party or caucus. (Although I'm always open to hearing the concerns and opinions of Cézembreans when deciding how to vote.)

I am also considering to sponsor a sense of the Ziu to request the government to get Talossa off twitter. Other than that I don't expect to submit much (if any) legislation.

And finally I promise to really vote on every clark this time (whether you choose to believe that after my previous failure is up to you).

I don't really intend to campaign much. Of course if there are any pointed questions from concerned citizens or opposing candidates I will gladly answer them. I'm also more than willing to explain my vote on any bill I voted on during the previous term.

It's up to you to decide whether all this is good enough to be re-elected. It depends on what other candidates show up I suppose.

So eeh yeah you could vote for me again, or not. Whatever you think is best really

Fellow senators,

it falls upon me to appoint one of you to serve on the electoral commission to assist with approving the rules and verifying the results of the upcoming general elections (March 15th - April 1st).

I have to appoint someone who is not an officer of a political party and whose seat is not up for re-election (or who is retiring, but I think it's preferable to appoint someone whose seat isn't up at all).

@mximo @Þon Txoteu É. Davinescu, O.SPM @GV @Sir Ian Plätschisch @Iason Taiwos any takers?

Here are some of the TCAT picks I am considering. Lüc has agreed to add his own list (when he has time) for comparison. Obviously contains potential spoilers for my team so don't look if you don't want to know.

Then again also some potential useful pointers for riders to consider.

Welcome back to the Talossan Cycling Association Tour! It's already time for the second leg of the season beginning Saturday, June 29th in Florence, Italy and ending three weeks later. Traditionally the second leg would end at the legendary Champs Elysees in Paris. However, because of the Olympics we shall be finishing in Nice instead.

Team registrations are now open. Here team leaders can find instructions on how to register their team.

Deadline
The deadline for entries to be submitted is 12:30 CEST (Cézembre Summer Time) / 05:30 (AM) TST (Talossan Standard Time) on Saturday June 29th, 2024.

How to register

Step 1: Create a Velogames account

If you already have a Velogames account you can proceed with step 2.
You can create a Velogames account by going to velogames.com -> log in -> click here to register

Step 2: Register your team

While logged in to Velogames, go to the following page: https://www.velogames.com/velogame/2024/entryform.php

Team information

*Sidenote: it appears velogames is also doing a separate stagehunting sixes this year, where you get to submit a team of 6 for every stage. This is NOT part of TCAT and we won't be posting the results here. However, Lüc and me will probably be playing anyway and of course you're welcome to join us if you somehow are really invested in this and like us have too much free time: https://www.velogames.com/sixes-stagehunter/2024/ (League code will be the same as for the main event.)

Wittenberg / King/Queen by seniority?
April 12, 2024, 03:16:48 PM
Here's a possible solution to the whole monarchy mess.

Have whoever became citizen (of Kingdom or Republic) first be the King/Queen.

First time we do this: offer the position to the most senior citizen (in this case Gjermund). If they say no or don't respond within a week or are no longer a citizen, move on to the next one, until someone accepts.

Next time the King/Queen retires or is removed, go with the next one on the list. Only if we get to the bottom of the list and nobody accepts we start at the top again.

If it takes many weeks before somebody accepts we can still have a regency in the meantime.

Advantages:

- The monarch isnt selected by the hype of the day.
- We don't need a big partisan war every time the King is absent because the procedure is just set
- There's no point in campaigning to be King and there's no point in becoming a citizen for that reason cause you won't last that long.
- We always get a King who's experienced, knows Talossan culture and has a track record of sticking around
- Monarchists might like that there is a set order of succession
- Republicans might like that it's non-hereditary, you need to have at least achieved something to become King and it might be easier to remove the monarch for inactivity if there is a replacement procedure

Cézembre / I did a thing, please have a look
March 02, 2024, 02:09:46 PM
I know I said I wouldn't do anything as Senator, but I have decided to do a thing anyway, which is to propose an OrgLaw amendment which sets the deadline for election night at a time which is much more reasonable for Cézembre (midnight instead of 2:30 am)

Cézembreans are very much encouraged to have a look and provide feedback. I am interested to know if there is support for this change within our province.

https://wittenberg.talossa.com/index.php?topic=3108.msg25629#new
#30
9 to 5 Amendment

Whereas Cézembre is an integral part of the Kingdom of Talossa and citizens of Cézembre are full citizens with equal rights to those of the other provinces, and

Whereas election night is considered one of the main social events for Talossans, with activity and participation often spiking and the reveal of the election results often being combined with other cultural activities, and

Whereas the election deadline is set at 19:30 Talossan Standard Time, and

Whereas 19:30 TST is 02:30 am in Cézembre, and

Whereas many Cézembreans and citizens of other provinces living in Europe work 9 to 5, what a way to make a living, and

Whereas this schedule does not allow Cézembreans to stay up past 2:30 am on weekdays, and

Whereas bringing the deadline forward 2,5 hours would allow more citizens to experience this magical feast of democracy, and

Whereas this would set the election at 17:00 TST, which is the end of business hours and not at all unreasonable for those living in the GTA or elsewhere in the western hemisphere, and

Whereas El Lexhatx refers to some non-existent tradition of keeping the polls open until midnight, now

Therefore Article V, Section 2 of the Organic Law, which currently reads

QuoteAll elections to the Cosa are to be conducted during a period beginning from the fifteenth day of the calendar month following the dissolution of the prior Cosa until 11:59 p.m. on the fourteenth day of the subsequent month. All ballots must be cast by 7:30 p.m. on the first day of the subsequent month. The first day of this period is called "Balloting Day", the first day of the subsequent month is called the "Election Deadline", and the final day of the period is called the "Certification Deadline."

is amended to read as follows:

QuoteAll elections to the Cosa are to be conducted during a period beginning from the fifteenth day of the calendar month following the dissolution of the prior Cosa until 11:59 p.m. on the fourteenth day of the subsequent month. All ballots must be cast by 5 p.m. on the first day of the subsequent month. The first day of this period is called "Balloting Day", the first day of the subsequent month is called the "Election Deadline", and the final day of the period is called the "Certification Deadline."

Furthermore
, provided the amendment to the OrgLaw contained in this bill is a approved and ratified, Lex B.10., which currently reads

QuoteNotwithstanding the purely traditional practice of "keeping the polls open" till midnight of the last day of an election (or of a month, for Clark purposes), the Secretary of State is hereby instructed to keep a sort-of conventional "business day" where the deadline for any official business (ballots, Clarks, etc.) is set at 7:30 p.m. of the day in question.

shall be amended to read

QuoteThe Secretary of State is hereby instructed to keep a sort-of conventional "business day" where the deadline for Clarks is set at 7:30 p.m. of the day in question.
