I thought you NPW types were balls-out Republicans? I am disappoint  :(

If the door closes, open a window.

Or it needn't have a King.  Perhaps an eternal Regent?  Or a Holy Crown?  Or an office like the Sh'botay or Panarch from science fiction?  Talossans are a creative bunch, and those looking for pomp and ceremony could find something far more effective, I'm sure.

Yeah.  Talossa can definitely be whatever Talossa wants to be, but whatever Talossa decides to be I'm sure my Peculiarist friend will agree with me that political clout should not be held by one person holding a lifetime position.

Oh definitely not.  I would, in fact, be interested in working as a Peculiarist caucus to create a roadmap to a Peculiar Talossan Monarchy.  If you're interested.

Thank you.  Could you please expand on what precisely you mean by "respect for history?"

Thank you.

What are the qualities you find most important for a Talossan jurist?  Can you speak to how you cultivate these qualities in yourself?

What do you foresee as the role of the Talossan Bar Membership in developing this consistency you mentioned in your previous answer?  The CPI bench can obviously do this through ruling and opinion.  How might the "lawyer class" contribute to this process?

Can you speak to the fact that Talossan law will most likely remain in the hands of "enthusiastic amateurs?"  Is this a strength or deficit?

Many Thanks, Senator del Val.

Estimat Nominee Davinescu, could you possibly begin by summing up your judicial philosophy in regards to Talossan Law?  How might your approach interact with the philosophies of your potential colleagues on the UC Bench?

I would, please.

My money is on... well, me.

I am all for this.  But think it might be more strongly supported with major renovation on the National Parliamentary level.  A Cosa with 200 seats can still be pretty readily farmed.

I cannot help but think that a Dearth of opportunity on the national stage would help deflect activity "downward" into the provinces.  Or maybe a time/activity cap for being a legislator.  I'm more than willing to spittball here.

The hearing is live! If you are a Senator, please speak to me via the hearing thread on Witt (i.e., NOT private messages). Alex, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to me. On behalf of the Senate, we appreciate your willingness to undergo this hearing and appreciate your time.

Will non-Senators have the opportunity to pose questions as well?  Using a similar system as last time?

I did.  I'm actually really happy with how the Dobbshead turned out.  Less so the Chao.  I've been using icons for eye training (ie, trying to get what I see onto the canvas).  I don't really have any training, so it's a process.

So since I've been closed up (and even a little before), I took up the hobby of painting.  Most of your know that I work in the theatre industry, and I was, essentially, looking for a creative outlet that I could do on my own.  So, I would like to offer the following Talossan art (based on the theory that, if it's art... and a Talossan has done it, it is Talossan art) for the enjoyment of my compatriots.

I fear if the NHMA passes we will essentially have a Monarchy in name only.

To which I say "Bully!"  However, I think you're overestimating the power of this Amendment.  Anything which allows ascension to a lifetime of being the embodiment of the state is still plenty monarchist.

The problem isn't Reunision... unless one considers Reunison as having ruined the "fun" of the "Dragonfly in Amber" Camp and the "Eternal Winner" Camp.  The EWC, embodied primarily by the monarchist political party known as the Rump, withered on the vine when it stopped winning elections.  The "DiA" began leaving when things weren't "fun" in the same way anymore.  Where Talossan conservatism has largely failed is that it stopped offering a viable alternative and, instead, just more of the same and try to crush out innovation.  I mean, for heaven's sake... the largest Opposition party in the Cosa agrees with the govt. most of the time aside from feeling that it simply isn't radical enough.

It's time for Talossa's conservative wing to stop blaming Republicans or Reunison for their problems and offer a governing alternative that could pour piss out of a boot if the instructions are written on the heel.
