Thoughts on crossbows?

I initially started this club to promote traditional archery in Talossa and I intentionally excluded crossbows. For whatever reason, I've always thought that using a crossbow was "cheating" because it requires far less training and practice to be proficient with such a weapon.

However, crossbows have existed for a long time. They first appeared in China around the 7th century BC and emerged in Greece around the 5th century BC. One can assume that the crossbow wouldn't exist without the invention of the hand bow.

Here's my question for all Toxophilites: Should we include crossbows in our organization or should we focus solely on archery?

I too regard crossbows as cheating but not sure exactly "cheating" on what lol. Mastering the hard skill of archery? It's a different thing. In a fight situation where you can shoot arrows to beat the opponent? Yeah, I believe the wind factor y is considerably less important with a crossbow.

I also consider a slingshot the same as a crossbow as in they're good for shooting things and they're not bows ... but even at that the slingshot needs the individual to have more skills.

One thing I can say is that for example, in my city if you see someone with a bow and arrows you can bet that person is training for the olympics or so. If you see someone with a crossbow you know that person is on its way to kill someone in style.

I think that the club should allow for the use of crossbows by individuals with physical disabilities or limitations that prevents them from using a hand bow.

This rule change would make the club more accessible for more people.

This seems like a reasonable accommodation to me. I vote Per.
