As I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago, I installed Google Analytics on talossa.com a few weeks ago as a first step to running Google Ads to promote immigration. When you buy a Google Ad, you choose certain words and phrases, and your website appears higher in the results whenever someone searches for those terms.

Google Analytics gives you the top 10 search terms that result in the most impressions of and visits to your website (an impression is when the user sees your website in the search results but doesn't necessarily visit it). Eight of these include "Talossa," and I don't think we need to pay for ads for "Talossa" because we are already the top result whenever someone searches for that. The other two are "micronational citizenship" and "grant of arms." I think it would be worthwhile to advertise on these two terms, because the people searching for them would be interested in Talossa but don't necessarily know that it exists.

I invite the public to comment on my observations. I am planning to include $50 for an ad campaign in the upcoming budget.

Those sound like good search terms to advertise.  What is the estimated reach of $50 spent on that sort of ad campaign?

Based on what I'm seeing, probably about 40 clicks

How many ads does that actually send out? If it's $0.50 an add, 40 clicks from 100 ads isn't bad at all, even if most of those 40 generate no more than a brief skimming of the website. If it's $0.01 an ad, that's a bit more disappointing, though I realize that any advertising on our part is a bit of a long shot to begin with, so to an extent we may just need to take what we can get.

It's my understanding that you pay $1-$2 per click. It should be on the lower end for us because we won't be advertising on commonly-used searches.

Oh alright, that's actually steeper than I expected. If we're on the low end of average, that's nothing to complain about. :P

Does advertising in the Journal-Sentinel make more sense, in light of this?  It's localized and they have Facebook integration included, if I remember correctly.
