Azul,

As it was recommended to me by Sir X. Pol Briga @xpb to suggest a book to begin on August 1st, I have given it some thought and settled on a book that is not difficult but also is a classic.

Starting on August 1, 2025, the Talossan Book Club will be reading:

The Call of the Wild, by Jack London.

We will have check-ins on August 15, 2025 and September 1, 2025. I will post some guiding questions in this thread prior to each check-in discussion.

If you are planning on participating in this inaugural event, please let me know below. I would like to have a list to help keep readers motivated.

TXEC R, by the Grace of God, King of Talossa and of all its Realms and Regions, King of Cézembre, Sovereign Lord and Protector of Pengöpäts and the New Falklands, Defender of the Faith, Leader of the Armed Forces, Viceroy of Hoxha and Vicar of Atatürk

Iason Taiwos

I plan to participate. Somewhere I have a faux leather bound box set of Jack London's complete works. I haven't read Call of the Wild in decades. If I can find my boxset, I'm in.

Welcome Admiral Taiwos and Judge Plätschisch! I read the book many years ago in High School (35+ years ago), but I plan on reading the Kindle version.

Who else will join us?

I will take part.  Perhaps after this first go-round then during the next book selection. I will ask someone that I would like to consider becoming a Talossa citizen to participate in a similar exercise to build initial rapport.

I will get a dead tree version from the library.

I completely dropped the ball on this in my recent rush to prepare for the new school year. With your consent, I would like to begin our reading of "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London on August 15, 2025. We will have our first check in on September 1, 2025.

Thanks for participating @Iason Taiwos @xpb @Sir Ian Plätschisch. Everyone is invited to participate as well!

I guess I'll join in too. I've never read Call of the Wild

Iason Taiwos

Found my copy and have already begun reading.

This is the set I have. I think my dad got it for me at Sam's Club sometime in the early eighties. I recall reading most of it as a kid and thinking that Jack London was the greatest writer ever, lol. I've held onto this set since then, but have never gone back and re-read any of it until now. So thanks for suggesting Call of the Wild. (I'll try not to get too far ahead.)

Sir Ian Plätschisch

Finished the audiobook over the weekend. Very good selection, looking forward to the discussion.

I love it. This is one of my all time favorite books and I'm excited to read it again as well!

It's truly one of the best books ever written!
