i have this question stuck on my mind since the day i discovered about Fiôvâ.

Our revolutionary heritage. Fiovă was founded as a province so that former citizens of the Talossan Republic could have self determination. Hence, our hyper-democratic constitution.

As far as Talossan Republicanism goes, we may have been on the losing side, we're still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Linguistically, I note the "Free Province" construction evokes the historical Irish Free State (1922-1937), a constitutional monarchy established as a compromise for a people who would have, in the main, have preferred to be a republic.
