This past term has seen Talossa take some important steps into the micronational community. It's a world we've shut ourselves off from for a long time under the more conservative, elitist governments of years and decades past, and we are sadly paying the price for this isolationism now. There are even quite a few micronationalists who are under the impression that we dissolved years ago! Thankfully, of course, we haven't, but it's a good illustration of the changes we face as we try to reverse course in foreign affairs.

Talossa is a nation of skilled, creative, passionate people, but one thing we frankly don't have much experience with is foreign relations. Unfortunately, experience can only be gained by doing. This Government has put our foot in to test the water, and found the temperatures can range from very hot to very cold, and can change very quickly. Relations with individual micronations should remain an option under future governments, though I think a somewhat selective policy will serve us better there. However, while our fellow nations may come and go rather quickly, or vary in their interest, the micronational community at large has managed to create several institutions that are more permanent and are likely useful in promoting our interests.

For my part, the institution I believe we should prioritize working with is the Micronational Olympic Federation. Funnily enough, even at the macronational level, international sports competitions are implicitly intended as displays of national culture, generating interest from tourism and soft power for diplomacy. The MOF is no different! We should utilize the opportunities it generates to better showcase Talossa to the micronational world. An Autófil Government would oversee the creation of the Talossan Micronational Olympic Committee, possibly as a joint project of the Culture and Foreign Affairs Ministries, to recruit Talossans of all sorts of talents to represent the country in the three main events the MOF puts on.
