As newly appointed Culture Minister, I would like to personally invite all language heads in Talossa to discuss our ever increasing need for BASIC language learning materials for those interested in learning our national tongue.

As we are pressed for time before the end of this Term and we are all busy with other responsibilities, I would like to set just 1 goal for  CultMin before the next election: COMPLETE the updated Vocabulary Primer on Memrise and offer it to all citizens so that we may use more Talossan in our day to day parlance on here.

I am able to do all the nitty-gritty parts of making the course, I would just like some volunteers for the audio portion of the course.

Hear, hear!  <sound of light clapping>  If I can be of any assistance here, I'd be glad to ... although there are those the quality of whose Talossan has passed mine by a long shot.  I always treated the language from the angle of a linguistics geek, rather than actually learning to speak it very well.  <hangs head in shame>

Maybe Lord Hooligan could be lured back to take part in an effort like this one ...

I'd love to see the whole Woolley-Hand bunch get back to activity.  Talossa needs everyone on board, including myself.

And to be clear re myself, I'm doing a lot of work on old Clark archives.  More about that soon(TM).

Well, it's not just you. The grammar that I'm writing (and that I'm still not done with and havent touched in months) is correct and I believe more comprehensive than previous grammars, but too technical for laypeople because I've been approaching this as a linguistics undergrad primarily. We desperately need people who can teach the language to Ladintschen-to-be.

That seems to be our main issue here. We all seem to have extensive knowledge of the technical parts of the language, but struggle with how we're going to teach it to people. I hope I can combine my vocabulary primer on Memrise with your Grammar outline, and we'll see if that helps!

At least speaking as a newbie...I think part of what makes people hesitant to learn Talossan is the orthography. On the one hand, the gratuitous X's help make Talossan unique, but they also steepen the learning curve, I think...

You'll be pleased to know that the spelling is much less complicated than it was in KR1's day!

Then at least progress is being made!

Though from what I understand, that's just one of many things that has been improved, lol

I think the most complicated aspect of the post-2007 orthography is the Stress Rule. It's never ambiguous about where the stress of a given word is (which is a huge step up from the KR1 system) but its a complex rule nonetheless.
