Ián Tamorán S.H.

Here is one I do NOT suggest for the list here - but I think would be of interest to you all. I, personally, if it really were the last day on earth, would like to hear it again.

Bach wrote his "Art of Fugue", but died before he finished the final fugue in it. Hundreds (literally!) of suggestions have been made for its completion. The one which I like the best is that by Tudor Saveanu, and there is a copy on my YouTube account - but I had no replies back from (now the late)  Mr. Saveanu when I asked for permission to republish his work - so this is an *unlicensed* copy - but (IMHO) of great interest.
Contrapunctus XIV

There is another copy of this - not made by me - of Tudor Saveanu's analysis of the structure of this fugue, together with his (proposed) completion of it. That copy is at http://'"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOARf99Trpo"]

Am I too late to post this? (I apologize for always submitting songs, but then failing to participate in the voting later on. Man, I just like music. I can't decide on which piece of music is better than another. Depends on my mood and the circumstances. I mainly would like to share with everybody things I've enjoyed, and hope others might like it too. I really don't get this ranking thing. Musical tastes are too subjective to arrive at any conclusion as to what's best.)

I have a problem... there has not been a single suggestion that I have NOT liked! What a brilliant selection.

Sir Lüc

I really wanted to sneak in a Pictures from an Exhibition movement, seeing as it's probably my favourite suite, but was unsure about which one. So instead of Mussorgsky, yall get a very predictable Tchaikovsky pick.

No you were still on time.

I suppose the voting is also a vehicle for people to listen to the stuff others nominated, in a format that is supposed to be fun (although I understand it appeals to some more than others).

Either way, no need to apologise. Obviously I prefer as many people to vote as possible, but I also separately like to see as many people nominate as possible. Doing one doesn't obligate you to do the other.

While we are voting on classical music in the voting thread, in this thread we now move on to the second category:

Eurovision nominated songs

Nominations are now open.

We are looking for 25 nominations.

Each person may nominate two songs now with a deadline of 48 hours. (Please include a youtube link)
If we're not full after 48 hours everyone gets another nomination 24 hours after their last nomination.

The boundaries of this category are pretty clear. Basically any song that participated in Eurovision, whether its the final or just the semifinal. Songs nominated for the 2020 edition (which was cancelled due to covid) may also be nominated.

Nominated so far:

Sir Ian Plätschisch

Since I don't really follow Eurovision, my only method of nominating songs is to click through playlists of nominated songs and pick ones I like. Luckily I found some good ones.

A couple months ago, we in the States attempted the "American Song Contest." This song won (from Oklahoma):

I'm partial to food fights and violins, so there can be only one.

1. Mørland & Debrah Scarlett - A Monster Like Me (Norway, 2015)

Sir Lüc

My first two nominations are my pick for this year's winner,

1. Konstrakta - In Corpore Sano (Serbia, 2022)

And likely my second-most favourite among the recent Italian nominations (actual favourite to come later once I settle a minor detail over what version to submit),

2. Francesco Gabbani - Occidentali's Karma (Italy, 2017)

Sir Lüc

I was unsure about which version of my next nomination it would be acceptable to submit. The Eurovision submission was the same as the original, Italian-language song, except for the translated title, some cut measures and random English translations here and there. I kinda dislike that, but eh, whatever.

3. Raphael Gualazzi - Madness of Love (Italy, 2011)

(Of course, this would not be possible anymore. Italy has since stopped throwing a tantrum at Eurovision, and the Sanremo winner now automatically advances as the Italian nomination - so it must be fully Italian language as a prerequisite.)

Interesting that nobody has nominated an actual winner so far...

Looking through some of the older songs, Eurovision used to be a rather dull affair. That is, until this iconic, though controversial, performance, which sounded nothing like any of the previous winners, won and completely changed the nature of the whole contest. (There are definitely some parallels there with another, later, winner). Anyway, a Eurovision TMT would not be complete without it.

Winners are eligible? I figured since it was "nominated" it didn't include winners.
