Has anyone played this game in the last 23 years? Played a match last night with my cousin, whom I played with 23 years ago for the first time.

I remember I had three original cds and read the game guide every night before going to bed when I was 10 years old. Great times.

When "Conquerors" expansion was released, I was thrilled.
I always chose Aztecs. Big time Jaguar warrior fan.
Even had the thing that they used to intimidate their enemies, the famous Death whistle and the Jaguar whistle.
Altough all whistles are up for sale if you ever had the chance to visit Teotihuacan, a 60 minute drive from Mexico City.

I remember I was fascinated by all the civilizations and their History and how most of them are only remembered now because of the things they left behind, buildings, texts, weapons, recipes, kitchen tools... and I believe the Kingdom of Talossa is a proper civilization, a kind of Babel Tower if you please.

I'm really happy to be here.

Let's play Age of Empires, tho.

I was always a Byzantines fan, myself. Wide-open tech tree, cataphracts as the unique unit, and a good civ for a defensive player (in my youth I was known to build walls out of towers if stone reserves permitted...)

Of course, as I got older, I discovered the sheer might of 25 longbowman launching a volley on a single unit at once.

Alexandreu Prominè

Broooo the memories, ialways played with spanishs and later in the steam version always used the Mayans.

Baron Alexandreu Davinescu

I remember this well -- I was always terrible at RTS, and this was no exception, but it was such a fun game!

i have the definitive version of AoE2 from steam, but played it for the last time two years ago. i was more into paradox games (CK, HoI or stellaris) or age of wonders (almost any version, but no.1 was my prrrrecious).

I never played Age of Empires but did play another game in the genre called Alpha Centauri. I remember playing this game so much that it actually found purchase in my dreams. Always played as the United Nations of course.

Sir Txec dal Nordselvă, UrB

I've played a lot of games in this genre, but I don't think I ever played Age of Empires. I love playing world-building games!

The Mittani came to fear the Hittite Heavy-Catapult/Armored Elephant rush.

I loved Scythe Chariots.  The Age of Kings community is small, but intense.  Lots of YouTube...

Same here. I could spend days and nights on a single Civilization game.

I remember seeing the trailer for this, it was one of the extras on the disc for SimCity 3000, along with trailers for The Sims (the original game), Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, and a few others.
